Having no reserve in injury prone sport just does not make sense.

Having no reserve in injury prone sport just does not make sense.

Whats amazing is every fan agreed on this one. Has there ever been another case in sport where fans all over the World agree one something but the people running the sport do nothing about it?

Hampel's injury was a bad one and genuine. Reserves were stopped after the Pole's alledgedly faked an injury when one rider wasn't riding very well. Could have been Walasek. In came rider number 5 and he did far better.

How many passes on the outside tonight? When are riders going to realise, DONT GO WIDE.

DONT GO WIDE, all i can say to that is, watching my second all time favorite rider, Gollob, where i've had the privilege to watch all over Poland. The likes of Bydgoszcz, at times i've seen him on another post code he was that wide!

Hopefully Hampel's injury will bring reserves back into SWC. Just let them have max 3 (or 4) rides and it will not be used for any 'dirty' tactics.

 

Hopefully Hampel's injury will finally persuade the authorities that air fences need to be tethered down!!!! Can't believe nobody has picked up on this .......

They don't need to be persuaded. It is already included in the "FIM STANDARDS FOR TRACK RACING CIRCUITS (STRC) 2015" .

079.4.6 Additional Protective Devices

Additional Protective Devices (APD) requires an official homologation pursuant to the standards, procedures and specifications for the CCP/FIM

Test for APD.The Homologation is valid only for the tested model/product. New models/products must undergo and obtain a new homologation in accordance with the relevant tests.

If an APD is used permanently or temporarily, it must be erected against a secondary fence on the bends and first part of the two straights only.

The secondary fence must be approved by the FIM. There should be no free space between the APD and the secondary fence.

 

FIM Standards For Track Racing Circuits (STRC) 15 update 18 April 2015 Standards

The height of the APD shall not be less than 1.2 m. The APD must be solidly connected to the top and, as solidly as possible, t

o the bottom of the secondary fence or to the ground in order to avoid a possible rising during impact.

 

So the question is why this isn't more strictly enforced? Both in regards to those who use the airfences and in regards to

those who manufacture airfences. Those who I have handled did not have any kind of "connector"/"fastening device"

on the underside, only on the backside.

Isnt that the point of reserves, to replace riders not riding well on the night, limit them to a certain number of rides, but not when they can be used

Is it only new (2015 onwards) airfences that have to have connectors at the bottom?

Let's hope that rich Poland will make sure their fences don't lift anymore, too late for Hampel though

So What??

 

A team of 5 riders, all of similar high ability, should make little difference. It was once thought of as a Team Manager duties to make changes.. With a 5th rider, there could be restraints on the number of rides they are allowed, but not to have cover is unbelievable for what ever reason. Just imagine, in those races of only three riders, one was excluded for tape infringement , we would have had, only 2 riders left to race.. How pathetic would that have been ????

 

The JOKER makes the sport a laughing stock. Seeing riders slow down to let other pass, as seen many times before, is contradictory to the whole essence of the sport.

 

Is just me ? or has this sport lost all its common sense ???

As should have been in the first heat rerun - the Swede should have been out too, for causing the stoppage.

 

No, it's not just you, the sport does seem to have lost its common sense.

What's more amazing is that every fan agreed on it back in 2006 as well, but then after the 2007 final they decided to get rid of the reserves again.

 

That was all part of the slow destruction of the best tournament that speedway had seen for many years.

 

When BSI first took over the SWC they created a great tournament and for me it was the high point of the speedway season for a good few years, but it has slowly been turned into a complete waste of time.

 

The change to 4 man teams and 20 heat matches was bad....the seeding of the hosts to the final was even worse...

 

A once great week of speedway was quickly turned into a week of relatively predictable results and TV boredom.

Great post 100 % agree with all of that ...just like to add that another crap thing was not to hold it in the same country and have these boring and unfair rounds at the same places and the same teams. of course this all comes down to money. Are we really going to have the final in Denmark and Poland all the time ? .

 

Standard Speedway, turn a great idea and turn into a joke . People moan about the joker and I admit I hate it in this format but the tac sub is just as bad . Your got 4 riders just let them take all there rides and see what team is the best .

Why can't the three remaining riders take one of Hampels rides, thus no need for a reserve or suspicion of underhand tactics.

Thou that is a good idea it would only matter of time before teams would cheat by saying a rider is injured so stronger riders could takes his rides ....it was the main reason why we don't have reserves after the fast one the poles pulled with Walasek that time .
