Considering the rain we had in the afternoon, the track was in really good condition and the young lads put on a good show.

I enjoyed Saturday night, perhaps only about 5 potential talents there, but they rode well on a track that is challenging to more experienced riders. The track had only one line, but I am used to that by now, the only rider that got away with going into the 'kitty litter' was Josh Bates, and a big congratulations to him, it didn't look like anyone would challenge him on Saturday. Congratulations to Liam and Luke who both rode well, Luke has really come on this year well done.

 

Not a brilliant crowd, weather will not have helped, but neither was it an event that would attract any other than the devout. It was really nice to see lots of friends that travelled to this event in The B&G afterwards.

Really enjoyed this meeting, probably the most enjoyable of the season, Kieran rode well for his experience, Luke rode brilliantly and was 1 position away from making the semi-final and Liam rode well towards the end of the meeting but was unlucky in the semi falling on the first bend, a special mention has to go to Jack Parkinson-Blackburn who rode incredibly well for his first time at the track at a mere age of 15 years old, he could be a real talent!

Saturday night showed that Berwick fans would support National League racing, should that be the option. And maybe, looking at the bigger picture, could be used as a template for how to get the sport back on a solid footing. Sell the sport, it was a great site to see a large group of sponsors on the centre green to watch the racing. Look to bring through young, local riders. Local businesses and fans can identify with local riders more readily. All the young fans were let in for free, I know this is something Berwick has done all this season (and I thought Dick Barrie does a great job with the mascots).

Reduce costs, sell the sport, get as many corporate sponsors in as possible. Might just be the saviour.

They have also managed to Promote via the normal media in quite an extensive way, if they have paid for that, then they evidently see the benefits of it, it's more likely though that they have a good Promotion team and understand PR.

Meeting seemed to go well, track rode well, considering the weather that day, good facilities, lot of sponsors there, hopefully (should the club have a future) it will encourage the BSPA to hold similar events at Berwick in the future.
