waiheke1 4,295 Posted September 11, 2015 Hi Does anyone have the results for the two British semi finals in 1988? Don't need the heat details, just the riders scores for each meeting. Many thanks!

Guest Posted September 11, 2015 Yes, if I remember it correctly there were at least 3 qualifying rounds held at National League tracks. They were usually regionally based and attracted riders of NL heat leader standard and BL reserves. The top 3 or 4 (can't be sure) from each qualifier then joined a number of seeded riders to make up the final 32.
waiheke1 4,295 Posted September 11, 2015 Thanks Arnie g Think it was 5 qualifiers with top 3 to one quarter final Too 8 joined 24 seeds for the two semis

Gavan 5,067 Posted September 25, 2015 I remember being at Lakeside or Arena as it was when an announcement came over the tannoy for Mark Loram to report to the pits. It basically was to be told he was now called into the meeting to replace someone. We used to sponsor Mark back then and he gave my auntie the race jacket at Sheffield and then when he won his first British Final in 1997 he gave her the jacket from that day as well. This just shows the decline in top British Riders and those 2 semi finals look better than any final now!
