jimmy jimmy 298 Posted June 6, 2016 Will probably get shot down in flames for this, but I think this year's EL is the most entertaining for years, as apart from Leicester, every team is in with a shout of winning this year, and Leicester are only short of a number 1, due to their race night. There seem to be more away wins than normal, there feels like fewer guest riders are being used, and racing is very competitive.
arnieg 3,643 Posted June 6, 2016 It still very much depends on what the line ups look like in two months time. For example an on form Kenny Bjerre instead of Tungate would make Swindon a lot more competitive. Ultimately though Poole have a greater capacity (thanks to their extensive asset list and their ability to offer the right deal) to make improvements. stevebrum 6,821 Posted June 6, 2016 Personally unless changes happen then Leicester , Coventry and Kings Lynn will be cast adrift . But plenty can happen at this early mid stage of the season.
waiheke1 4,295 Posted June 6, 2016 If batch hits from then Kl have a top four as good as anyone. TheIt real issue is reserve and there is no easy solution there. Coventry could upgrade woryna and have a very competitive side, but chances are they won't make the needed change, and it's apparent what a bad move it was not to start garritty at reserve. Poole still very strong favorites Imo, ahead of aces. Without changes, don't see any other side as potential champs. Wolves will make play offs bit not strong enough to win it. Fourth play up spot very much up for grabs.

lucifer sam 3,953 Posted June 6, 2016 Wolverhampton, Poole, Belle Vue and Lakeside in the play-offs; Swindon fifth; the rest nowhere. All the best Rob
Gavan 5,050 Posted June 6, 2016 Title is Pooles to lose as it was right from the off. When you can have the likes of Kurtz, or Pedersen at reserve then you shouldnt really be worrying to much about the other sides
hyderd 1,216 Posted June 6, 2016 if Lakeside do make the P/Off's then I don't think any of the other 3 teams will like facing them in the semi's. Title is Pooles to lose as it was right from the off. When you can have the likes of Kurtz, or Pedersen at reserve then you shouldnt really be worrying to much about the other sides Injuries play a big part in any sport, all it takes is for 1 of your top riders to get injured before the semis, then someone else to have bike problems at the wrong time, then you may not even make the finals
sparkafag 746 Posted June 6, 2016 It is highly unlikely you will ever see a Speedway Utopia where are all sides are equal and every side is in with a chance of winning the league..and this season definitely isn’t that, but it is a season that is ticking loads of boxes re what fans feel would enhance the sport in this country. It doesn’t really have that many top stars and thus isn’t being dictated by them, there hasn’t been that many guests, Brits are developing and filling most team spots, most meetings are close and competitive as is the league. I actually think it is by chance rather than design but the reserve rules have balanced the league, the reserve swaps have actually weakened stronger sides like Poole on quite a few occasions already this season, and will likely continue to do so, while allowing weaker sides the chance of a super reserve without denting them in bigger heats…. despite all that, it does still lack star power IMO. It will still be between Poole and Belle Vue, which is still close to call due to the stunning form this season of Stevie Worral, who must be forcing the issue re a Team GB place if he has a strong British Final.
gimli27 54 Posted June 6, 2016 Mockingjay hit the nail on the head its a double edged sword a good rider goes to reserve but then a rider ends up in the main body to face heat leaders
auntie doris 2,342 Posted June 6, 2016 You can never discount a rosco side but at present if holder rides well away poole will win it with wolves belle vue and either lakes or roobins in play offs
Crazy robin 2,963 Posted June 6, 2016 Hope Lakeside make the play offs as they can hammer any team at their home track & are a lot more competitive away this season.
SCB 0 Posted June 6, 2016 Speak for yourself. It's rubbish. For try second year running it'll be a BV vs Poole final. People always enjoy the years their teams do well, no suprise to see a BV fan enjoying this season and good for you but don't fool yourself that because there's a feel good factor at BV that the rest of the EL is enjoying it! Perton Wolf 396 Posted June 6, 2016 Wolves are perhaps not as strong on paper as the likes of Poole and BV but have been impressive away from home this season and that could count for a lot when the playoffs come around......
