RYE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE: BY CRAIG SAUL

THE BIG PREVIEW: BMR ROCKETS VS LEICESTER
The BMR Rockets will be going all-out to bounce back from Monday’s reverse at Wolverhampton when they roar into action against Leicester in Bank Holiday Monday’s SGB Premiership clash at Rye House (2pm start).
The Black Country defeat took a little bit of the shine off the Rockets’ thrilling victory over Poole in The Big One just two nights earlier, but Team Manager Peter Schroeck is confident that his side can get right back on track in their bid for the championship play-offs. “Monmore was just one match in our league programme, but all the boys will be extra fired up for Bank Holiday Monday. We don’t go anywhere to lose, so although Wolverhampton are proving strong around their patch the result there was still disappointing. It says a lot that even though he had had to contend with bike problems on the night, Bomber (Chris Harris) was still upset about Heat 15 (when he finished third in a Rockets’ 4-2) because he really wanted to win that one.
“We’ll be back to full strength on Monday, with Branny (Rob Branford) back from his bruised shoulder, and Edward absolutely determined to prove a point.
“We’ve also had a new delivery of shale this week, and made some minor changes to the track, which will give the boys more grip and help increase the number of racing lines.”
Monday’s visitors, meanwhile, will arrive in town having balanced out a home defeat against Poole with a hard-fought match point from their own away trip to Wolverhampton (44-45), as well as one at early front-runners Belle Vue (42-48).
They will also arrive with 2016 Lakeside Rider of the Year Kim Nlsson, reigning British Champion Danny King and current – and double – World Longtrack Champion Erik Riss in their ranks. That spearhead will be joined by Lasse Bjerre – who has replaced Josh Auty in the Leicester team this week – plus double British U-21 titlist Josh Bates and former Kent King Danny Ayres. 2013 World Longtrack Bronze winner Richard Hall will guest for the SEC-committed Kacper Gomolski.
Schroeck is very much aware of the threat the Lions pose. “We’ve seen already that on their day, any team can beat every other team – it’s a very balanced league. Leicester may not have a really big hitter in their side, but they are quite solid all the way through, with a lot of guys who can do some damage.
“They are a case of “consistency beats resistance”.
“We are not going to under-estimate them, but we will go in with the same objective as before: to hit them from the very beginning.
“The boys will want to redeem themselves after Wolverhampton, and also ensure that we keep our unbeaten record going at Rye House, because it is the foundation of our drive towards the play-offs. One match hasn’t changed that aim.”
BMR Rockets:
Rob Branford, Chris Harris, Edward Kennett (captain), Scott Nicholls, Ellis Perks, Stuart Robson, Ricky Wells
Leicester:
Danny Ayres, Josh Bates, Lasse Bjerre, Richard Hall (guest), Danny King (captain), Kim Nilsson, Erik Riss
Admission: Adults £18, Seniors (over 60s) £16, Full Time Students (17-22) £10, Children (12-16) £6, Children (under 12) Free. Match Programme £2.00

In addition to the main event, the meeting will include six youth heats across 150cc and 250cc classifications, with these Rocketeers races getting underway at 1.30pm.

It's a pity that more and more matches are being decided by guests and absent riders before a wheel has even been turned.

Absolutely no need for doubling up this season either. More than enough riders around to have filled teams in both divisions without some riders having a club in both leagues.

Is there? The only way that would happen is by merging the Championship with the National League to free up Chanpionship riders to compete solely in the Premiership.

There isn't enough.

There isn't enough.

tend to agree with you steve although if the will was really there then Bens dream could possibly be acheived.

Would take a huge overhaul and include rider control allocations rather than free team building IMO.

The set up required would not be acceptable to all teams (ie the level they would be placed at) hence my reference to 'if the will was really there'

No there are not enough riders of the quality required to have a competitive Premier league as even after

losing Coventry the doubling up hasn't reduced, goodness knows what we would be seeing if they hadn't closed.

A lot must come down to finances as I'm sure a lot of supporters cannot fathom the likes of Cook King and Masters making hay in the Championship.

A squad system allowing teams to sign up to 10 riders shared between the Premier and Championship would possibly

stop the 'guest' syndrome and allow teams to plan their season better.

One of the issues is that many of the riders in the Premier League cannot make just riding in one league pay, there are not enough meetings.

Sooner we get more younger riders ready to step up a level the better.

Hi John,

No problemo - it gets the word out there - and if anything, thanks for that!

All the best,

Someone called him a serial copy 'n' paster, hard to disagree, and also as you say, who cares.

Isn't it just as easy to post the link to the press release rather than repeat the whole thing using bandwidth etc?!
