Lakeside 2017

Recommended Posts

Lakeside announce their ticket prices for 2017 which seem in keeping with other NL clubs. There is no mention of programme price though so it is not possible at this stage to gauge the benefit of purchasing a season ticket.

People would need to know what day or night the club intends to run before commiting to a season ticket.

Never seen unemployed listed as a concession before.

I think it always was at Lakeside subject to proof of being unemployed. I seem to recall it being announced around 2009

Never seen unemployed listed as a concession before.

I thought quite a few clubs did it

Also seen it at other sports too

Also seen some bands have an amount of cheaper tickets available at a lower price for the unemployed

It's good to know that the traffic delays on Fridays for NL racing will be much less than they were for EL!

Many of the riders will not have ridden Lakeside before so it should be a fortress,Even the top riders in this league ,Bowen and Boxall are not at their best on this very tight circuit....the away matches should be the deciding factor in their final league position,,

Bowen's raced at Lakeside before and is a small track specialist. Took to Kent like a duck to water, can't see him struggling with Lakeside.

The 'original' website article on admission prices mistakenly showed 'concessions' as £10 when it should have been £11. Jon Cook did say yesterday evening that concessions are not that common at NL level anyway.

Birmingham and Kent do not offer concessions and there may be others. There was a lot of positivity evident at the forum and a very good turnout.

Thought the reason for dropping down was we couldn't run on Fridays due to the bad traffic? Someone is not telling the full truth by the sounds of it. Maybe the terrible traffic has been all the people fighting there way to the raceway and now it's National League the M25 should be nice and clear.

I did not say Bowen and Boxhall were struggling,,and you can not compare Kent with Lakeside totally different... I saw them both on their most recent visits which was in the top level ,and thought they were not at their best....

Not exactly. It's more complicated than that. The roadworks causing the trouble seem to be finishing, but Jon said that in the 5 meetings when crowds were seriously affected by roadworks they were losing up to £8,000 per meeting, and could not sustain those losses . It costs £22,000 to run an Elite (now Premier ) League meeting but only £8000 max. to run an NL meeting so any losses would be proportionately much smaller at the lower level.

There seem to be other reasons swirling beneath the surface. He has doubts about the top leagues ability to survive in its present form and is being destroyed, amongst other things by riders pay demands which are getting beyond the pale. He said when Lakeside announced they were dropping to NL four riders phoned up to say they were devasted and asked if there was anything they coukd do. The four were Lewi Kerr, Richard Lawson, Kim Nilsson and Dave Watt. The rest, in Cooks words "ran for the hills" and didn't care about the fans or the club.

Both Jon and Kelvin want to return to the club atmosphere that speedway had 25 years ago. The riders will now be encouraged to interact with fans more, now they don't have to dash off and catch flights to their next pay day. Kelvin also said we will have to get used to a new type of Speedwáy but he is very enthusiastic about it

The Sneering Voice of (Un )Reason, who couldn't be bothered to turn up, didn't hear the full context of what was said, doesn't have the guts to confront Cook and Tatum face to face, and doesn't get hit in the pocket when the club sustains losses, gets it wrong and makes a fool of himself yet again.

Not funny, not clever, just stupid
