keef robin 551 Posted May 12, 2017 Which riders past and present are willing to have a chat with the fans, nowadays riders don't seem as accessible. Always found Simon Stead, Jason Doyle easy to chat to, and Nick Morris was sat in a local Swindon pub with us watching the speedway on tv. Past Robins riders such as Malc Holloway, Rosco, Charlie Gjedde, Martin Ashby, Barry Duke, Mike Keen, Geoff Bouchard, etc.,are friendly geezers. Up at Worky fans were allowed in the pits post match, all the Comets were accessible. Aidan Collins, Rusty Harrison, etc., always had time for a chat along with Shane Parker. Never found Leigh Adams easy to chat to or a few of the ex-Swedish Robins.
allthegearbutnaeidea 1,735 Posted May 12, 2017 At Berwick if we win the riders get brought round and go into the main stand for photos and autographs/chats and then some go into the sponsors box to chat to the sponsors of the meeting and you can then find most of them in the Black and Gold bar/club having a drink, can't really think of a rider who hasn't been fairly approachable but Liam Carr, Dany Gappmaier and Kevin Doolan are all very friendly ans will have a drink with you, the Swedes Edberg, Robin Aspegren and Alden were always friendly as well as Tommy Jorgensen. mikebv 10,292 Posted May 12, 2017 Craig Cook.... Â Three years or so ago he spent time with my then 11 year old lad in the pits before a meeting at Brum when the Aces were there.. Â He made a fan for life that evening... Â A now 'ultra cool' 14 year old still shouts himself hoarse when Cookie races, and is gutted to see him beat.. Â A great lad, hope this year sees him make the breakthrough to the very top level... Â If passion for the Sport and drive to get there is any marker, he should...
