Bradford Ace 183 Posted October 30, 2021 Bewley signing now announced by Smederna so that’s the end of him at Belle Vue for now. Gutting for all BV fans after watching him progress from the Colts reserve to the Aces No1 in 5 seasons. Presumably paves the way to a Fricke return for 2022
LagutaRacingFan 1,936 Posted October 30, 2021 Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls never turned their back on British Speedway. The modern era of riders only care about money.

Think you'll find all riders rode abroad back in the day - but the main difference being British speedway was comparable money wise to Europe and if not the number of meetings made it worthwhile back then - Now unfortunately British speedway is third or fourth in payment terms so as we know Poland now means increased monies, sponsorship and opportunity, Sweden paying more per point why would you ride in the UK.

baxiboy 5 Posted October 30, 2021 I think when Dan goes to a Sweden in 2022 he’ll go on a low average but if he didn’t go until 2023 he’ll go on his Polish average which would probably be higher? I’m sure someone will know if that’s the rule?

Pre Covid in Sweden crowds were considerably larger than in the UK... Not Poland level obviously but a basic meeting would get 2000 or so... And, given they don't run Mickey Mouse rules, it means they do have some credibility and have a nationally recognised company sponsoring the league....

Much easier to race Poland and Sweden with one set of equipment and team of mechanics than it is to do Poland and UK.

It is not that long since riders rode in GB , Sweden and Poland. We now have Dan, Robert and Tai not riding in Britain….. our best three riders!!! Personally totally gutted at losing Dan for 2022. mikebv 10,285 Posted October 31, 2021 A perfect move for Dan at this stage of his career.. Too many GB lads didnt make that risky jump into a more pressured environment and stagnated, when they could have maybe progressed up the Speedway ladder... The vast majority of races he is in now will have at least one top level rider up at the tapes with him which can only help improve his own performance... Missing the start and passing sometimes all three others in Sweden and Poland wont be as easy as he seems to find it in the UK so his gating will need to be consistently sharp which can only help him at World Individual and Team level... Hopefully he will appear in some individual events over here like the Peter Craven Memorial as he one rider that definitely is "worth the admission" to watch.... A big couple of years for Dan coming up I would think, let's hope it goes well for him as having a couple of successful young lads like Bewley and Lambert at World Class level can only help get the sport in the UK more publicity off the back of it..
