And was a much better line up. Quality of rider wise.

Totally agree. That’s the best we’ve got that want to ride though.Poor show from the No shows IMO.

One of the problems with the reduction in no. of matches on which GSAs are based.

All things being equal a team whose GSAs are based on 7 home and 3 away is likely to have a higher combined total than one with 3 home and 7 away.

Over 20 matches that was far less of an issue.

And the make up of the ten meetings is another factor. Some teams race lower table opponents twice in the final ten meetings, so potentially more points and a higher average. While Newcastle' s results have been expunged from the league table, the points riders scored against them remain in the books and in some cases will feature in a teams last ten meetings used for GSA calculation, certainly for Leicester, possibly others too. Ten meetings is too small a sample to be used for 2023 team planning.

Clearly they didn't think it through when planning the rule change!

Also compare a rider like Joe Thompson's last 10 matches in the team vs reserve. The difference could be anywhere between 3.00-6.00!

Wonder who the reserve is we had?

Seems good. Could he not have had one of Masons rides also?

Yes, if the team manager was more aware / ruthless, Berwick could have come away with a draw!

Theres a lot of dodgy rules about. Personally i think that unattached riders should be issued an average just as attached riders are once the number of meetings are achieved

Don't really know how Jody was signed in and out of the Chargers (28 day replacement or full signing) either way at NDL level theres too many rules and regs to jump through.

Not sure that's a good idea. Let's say an unattached rider is likely to get a 3.5 ave, then after riding a 4th match, he'll no longer be able to guest for an injured 3.00 rider (or replace them) so may have to sit out the rest of the season, while a 2.75 rider can continue to guest!

Wouldn't affect someone like Jody Scott so much as I'm sure half the clubs in the league would sign him up before his average shoots up!

The problem is / was that it could be possible for an unattached rider to puck and choose meetings that suited them, ride and rack up big points (affecting results) and would still remain a 3.00 rider for next season.

If a rider decared in a side has a decent start or run of home/easier fixtures they could easily up thier average and then get dropped/frozen out.

Ultimately if your points count towards the match result and are affecting the averages of others it should affect that riders too. Ive seen/heard that the points should applied to Jody but time will tell.

It’s seems every time they make rule changes it just complicates matters. That’s Speedway though.

If that's the case all guest appearances should count for averages & not just unnattached riders.

British U-19 Final at Redcar Thursday 21/7/22 at 7.30 p.m.

Leon must be favourite for this meeting but he is carrying a back injury.

If you cannot attend this is being streamed.

In addition to Leon -- starting a run of nine meetings in ten days, as he told us last Saturday -- Ace Pijper is also in tonight's field.
