So Hume has just beaten Pickering at Edinburgh, might have got a draw or even a win if he did it last night! ;)

Another night, on a different track.

In fact, stage the Witches v Stars at Foxhall again with the same line-ups, and you'll get a different result.

You could well do. Richard and Josh might get 20 between them next time:P

That's the whole point. Some fans saying, if, if, if - it applies to both teams. Lawson normally rides very well at Foxhall, scored 3!

Exactly, he scored 3, that was his score, nobody is guessing are they? If you’re talking about a different meeting then sure, his score will certainly be different on a different day. So this “if” doesn’t apply to both teams does it? Because only one team were missing their riders and it wasn’t Lynn who were at full strength. Nobody knows for certain that Starke and Rowe would have scored more than the two points from eight rides that their replacements managed, but an educated guess tells you it’s more than likely!

Every meeting is different and you can only race with the riders available

Heeps scored 2 I think he would have scored 2 riding at no.2 I think Riss had the pace to win all his races but he was racing Doyle in 3

So Riss at 4 would have seen witches "most likely" win the meeting

The point I made is that if you stage the match again with the *same* line-ups you would get a different result.

"Racing Doyle"?!  They are team mates. The whole point of that pairing, no matter how strange it seemed, was that they would score heat advantages - which they did. Riss also covered Heat 8.

The big question is will they risk Heeps at 2 for the match against Belle Vue ... if they do, and he fails to race Doyle (LOL!), at least Starke will be available to cover Heat 8.

With heat 8 being a protected heat, the only way Starke could come in is for a tapes offence or failing to beat 2 minutes.

Only the #7 is protected - the #6 can replace the #2. Indeed, it's not clear if a T/S can or can't be used for the #2.  I've asked the SCB and BSPL why the regulation is hidden under:

"012.6 RACE FORMATS

012.6.1 15 Heats

In all Premiership Team competitions the #7 is protected in heats 2 and 8 and no replacements are permitted unless injured and confirmed in writing by the MO"

Didn't think a T/S was allowed in ht 8 anyway.

If they put Heeps in at 2 v Belle Vue and he has a mare in heat 1 & 6 a decent team manager would keep him in the pits so he gets excluded under the 2 minute rule for heat 8.

So he would still be in heat 8 then......

But he would still need to take his third ride in Ht 10 against tougher opposition..

The oppositions 3 and 4....

Ht 8 might be the race to keep him in given two reserves are in it...

And, if needed, he could be replaced by a tactical sub in Ht 10, which couldn't be done if he hadn't done three rides already...

But with Doyle in heat ten there is a much better chance to getting a 3-3 than any sort of result in heat 8 with the form Cam & Rowe are in.

I'd much rather have Riss at 3

A decent team manager would just replace him with the other reserve wouldn't they?Don't have to faff about to get him excluded just pull him and get the reserve in.
