As has been mentioned Damien Bates on the podcast has suggested they were, but logistics were a problem.  I know that since Brexit riders basically need a set of gear for Europe, and another set purely for the UK, otherwise the admin and import taxes for bringing non road legal bikes and machinery in and back out can be ridiculous, especially for 1 meeting.
Which leaves riding borrowed machinery as the other option, which is never ideal as whilst the bikes might look the same things like seats, handlebars, clutches and footpegs can all be set up different. Dan obviously has gear over here good enough to  win it..!

If they wanted to be in the meeting they would be in it. Lambert had no problem getting over for the GP qualifier at Glasgow.

If you want to be in it you would be . Once it's on the CV, job done. Will we see Bewley in it next year?

It's got nothing to do with Brexit or logistics, it has everything to do with DESIRE

Confirmation once again that there is no track in the UK that comes close to the NSS. The sheer speed of it with so many racing lines make it the most thrilling track to watch speedway

Glasgow and Redcar get better racing in my opinion.

Belle Vue does seem to have some home track advantage, even good teams have been hammered there this season.

Congrats to Dan Bewley the guy was a different gravy and winning races easily.  Fair play to Tom Brennan being the "Top of the Brits" racing in the UK didn't look quite as quick but rode some excellent 1st +2nd corners to get himself in good scoring positions. Enjoyed the meeting.

Definitely shows home track advantage worked in his favour

Fate may help Brennan in the long run.

Getting experience on 2 fast bigger Polish style tracks like Belle Vue and Glasgow.

No disrespect but he'd not have done that if his main track was still a small trick track.

He's also got very professional support now from Craig Cummings who is full of GP know how and global contacts.

Beginning to show in his marked improvement.

They and Scunny are all great tracks but the NSS is the best we have IMO, the dimensions are pretty much perfect and there are so many lines and so much room. Can't wait for the rumoured GP next year.

Until this year our home form was shocking and is what was costing us, the top 3 yesterday was nothing to do with it being at belle Vue. They were just the best 3 riders in the day.

Don’t get why all the bickering about what’s the best track, it’s about the British final. Not the track.

so well done dan on winning your first gold

It's a far better track to stage a British Final on than Monmore Green for sure.

Let's not forget also that we all used to go to Brandon every year knowing we could fill our programmes in half way down the back straight first lap and barely see a pass all night.

Brandon was probably too well prepared, Monmore just a trick shape.

Had no idea this was on until I saw a post on Twitter congratulating Bewley. I just watched it on catchup and Bewley was head and shoulders above everyone else. Congrats to him. With a Polish bike he is so fast compared to the rest. Just goes to show the level that British youngsters have to get to, to compete at the top level.

A shame the top three were all “Belle Vue” riders. Home advantage helping them get there. Not that Bewley needed it. Well done to Danny King making the final on what were clearly slower bikes than anyone else.

A decent meeting. Not great not bad. A shame the crowd was not great. Lots of empty seats in the grandstand when the weather is dry and OK on a Sunday afternoon.

Where was Lambert? where was Woffinden?

Well Steve what can I say I thought you would be more mature but this post is one of your worst.

Brennan definitely in top 3 because it's his home track had it been wolves or Ipswich he ain't in top 3 imo

At least it stops the criticism that he’s not that good.He has improved enormously this season with speed and style IMO.

Where ever you hold it there would be a few riders with a SLIGHT home track advantage. That’s just how bad British speedway is now with all the double upping
