Regardless of the rights and wrongs of the facility given to Wolves I think it’s incorrect that the decision rests in the hands of one person. Nothing against Vatcher, don’t know him from Adam, but these decisions should be handled by a committee not one person.

I understand the facility is for a guest with an average of 5.33 or less. What does that equate to in terms of a championship riders average

Wolves Speedway owners are in talks over a potential new home after the team was given notice to leave Monmore Green.

Under-threat Wolves has been told its tenancy agreement will not be extended beyond the end of this year, leaving the riders homeless after nearly a century of racing at its historic home, in Sutherland Avenue, Wolverhampton, which it shares with greyhound racing.

The club is remaining tight-lipped over the unnamed location, but team promoter Chris Van Straaten told the Express & Star: "There is a site which we are investigating, but it is the very early stages of consideration and we're unable to say any more at the moment.

"We have had a lot of interest and have received a lot of help from MP Pat McFadden, councillors and others. We are working towards a site and we're quite confident about and hopefully it will come to fruition within the next few months."

Not idiotic - realistic.  We're in the middle of the worst cost of crisis in living memory, and a sport where tracks are dropping like flies.  You seriously think the local council are going to allow money to be blown on something that, with the best will in the world, appeals to a couple of hundred people in the area?

It's utter fantasy

If a site is found that is not in council ownership the only role that the council has is in granting planning permission. That permission will not be a judgement on the wisdom of the venture in the current economic climate.
