No double headers planned and the lad has been very sensible in his deal as he realises the benefit of riding for both Redcar sides. Bearing in mind how many local lads are in the NDL team the club have saved a fair bit anyway.

So are you saying that you know what deal he has agreed?

I’m not privy to his or anyone else’s championship deals but the NDL pay rates at the club are not a big secret as most of the lads can’t keep a secret and talk openly about their deals in public, usually in the form of moans about who is getting more than them at other clubs!
The club are not paying ‘top dollar’ but it’s my opinion they have been very sensible in the rates offered to ‘development’ riders and obviously the seven/eight concerned are happy with them too.

Tigger and his family come across as very sensible and have been regulars at Redcar with the Gary Havelock connection in 2023 .

Good looking team now

And I think Dayle Wood will have a good season which will really wind up some folk!

However, in the press release of Wood's signing it says ""It's a big year for Dayle and if the team is going to be successful we will need him to perform at a heat leader level".    That suggests a weak final signing.   If they had Coles, Perry and McGurk there'd be no need for Wood to be the third heat-leader...

Bit strange to say they need Dayle to perform as a heat leader to be successful. They are bound to have 3 riders with higher averages. Does that mean they expect one of them to fail or they are looking for 4 heat leaders in the team?

Now they've signed Perry, the comment about  Wood of "It's a big year for Dayle and if the team is going to be successful we will need him to perform at a heat leader level" seems more odd. Perry, Coles & McGurk must be the strongest heat leader trio in the league.

Would be great if Dayle manages to do that.   Four heat leaders would be pretty cool in this league.   Could be an interesting and entertaining season ahead.

So who is getting kicked out to accommodate Perry?

They've named these 7 so far.    Presumably they'll dump Wood or Watson?

Connor Coles   7.79
Max Perry   7.75
Sam McGurk   6.08
Dayle Wood   4.50
Mason Watson   3.93
Mark Parker   3.00
Kyran Lyden   3.00

    36.05

You're looking at it far too simplistically.

A successful team in any league will have to average over 42 points, let's say 43. That's a near 7 point increase across the team in this season's NDL. Wood would appear to be a prime candidate in the Edinburgh side for a substantial increase on his starting average of 4.50.

Given the realistic scope for improvement elsewhere you'd think Wood will need to add two points or so for Edinburgh to improve by seven as a team, which would have him averaging 6.50. That's pushing on heat leader level.

Makes sense to me.

Delighted with that 1-7, reckon there will be improvement in all of the boys and we should hopefully be challenging at the top end of the table. Great effort :t:

And people wonder why the sport is seen as a joke!

It’s a development league. A 16 year old kid going to miss out cause of 0.05 of an average. Common sense for once has actually been used.

Personally think it's a brilliant decision to up the limit so max can get a team . Let's be honest none of the leagues teams would have built any different to what they did any way so it can't be a bad thing.
