  1. A very sad aspect of the BSF is the loudmouths who love to insult all and sundry in the sport who are actually trying to make it work, while very conveniently hiding behind stupid false names and claiming 'freedom of speech'. When someone working in the sport and prepared to talk openly under their own name here then tackles them they then hide behind accusations of 'unprofessionalism'. Yes, this is a forum. No it doesn't give you the right to behave like a poisonous anonymous coward and squeal when someone rightly stands up for themselves and bites back. Good luck to Laurence in his new job. I had no idea he had the divine power to shut tracks though ;-)

  3. I am 100% confident both Poles will do their jobs and more. Woryna challenging for heat leader and Spanner dominant at reserve most of the time.

  4. Fantastic from Barry...Maybe you should have a word in a few other promoters ears. You should also be one of those running the show from what I've read. I shall defo be making the effort to give your track a visit during the season from Essex

  13. 1 - Poole. Look really solid. If Woryna and Holder improve their averages as expected nobody will stop them. 2 - Leicester. With the signings plus releasing Jim Lynch, they are showing that they mean to be taken seriously. Now the other teams - the ones without riders on dodgy averages. 3 - Belle Vue. Will be pretty strong again, particularly at home with Tungate rampant. What is it with him and that track? 4 - Somerset. The Doyle factor. 5 - Swindon. The lack of Doyle factor 6 - Wolverhampton - The lack of Lindgren factor 7 - Rye House. Disappointing that they never brought in a GP rider. Should have signed Andrew Silver to bring down the average age a bit. 8 - King's Lynn. Obvs.

  14. My stance hasn't changed at all, the Chris Simpson thing should and could have been sorted years ago. People asked time and time again to help generate some atmosphere as the jingles and general presentation Chris did was more of the time than Pete York. ? is Mick doing it for the right reasons or because by doing this it gets maybe a few more through the gate. WIth the news coming out today about Jim Lynch it wouldn't surprise me to see him as co-promotor. The Leicester team looks really good and will effect people going to see Coventry who maybe we're sitting on the fence, it's going to cost my dad a £1 more to see Danny King & co! The amount of statements from and concerning the bees that have come out and I read that the past is in the past is ridiculous. we had it with him falling out with Sandhu, A few weeks ago the save Coventry bees committee and now Chris Simpson? The person who deserves the biggest apology is Colin Pratt and the way he left Coventry via a txt message. Ex employees and sponsors also show its not just people on the outside jumping on the bandwagon and to fall out with so many people and that's just the few we know about ! When does the penny drop? That said I really do hope those who do go have fun and wish the team all the best.

  16. When Mauger and the Aces came to newly 'promoted' Ipswich in 1972 the traffic queue into the stadium was miles down the road. Likewise when Poole came to the Showground with Holder and Ward the crowd increased and there was a fantastic atmosphere as well. Only great riders can create that type of buzz imo...

  19. Not really any riders available or willing to use up the points? Slightly strange choice as I thought if it was a 3 pointer it would be Tedham. That said if any rider deserved a little luck this season it's Sam so I wish him well.

  21. 7.26 was his established average from Poole. He rode 7 meetings. Given Clegg was given a 2.00 average based on 4 matches for Wolves in 2017 I assume that Richie's would be too. 7.26

  26. What like the team from last season 'blended together'??? I think not! Brady and Kacper know each other very well as do the Aussie boys. The 2 Poles will gee each other up. We know what James is all about so that only leaves Linus to settle in!

  30. 5 of the 2017 side are still riding. The Robins won most matches when Doyle was not riding & so that is not an issue. Batch will provide a more balanced team as both him & Morris are good team riders, whereas Doyle just looks after himself. It's probable that there will be a reserve change at some point but I'm happy with the Swindon line-up, whereas Poole are full of "maybes". Riders that do well in Poland are not always as successful over here. It depends very much on how well they adapt to the variety of tracks in the UK. The season will tell it's tale in October.

  34. Well said Rob McCaffery. Too few people on this forum actually seem to appreciate the work that is done to present the sport by a few dedicated individuals, some of whom invest thousands of pounds in pursuit of success as well as contributing countless hours of work. Having known one or two promoters at a personal level way back in the past, I have a totally different viewpoint.

  35. Maybe if Lambert was starting off as a reserve I could see him upping his average by a point , but it looks like he will probably start at #2 . So like yourself I can't see where an improvement in any of the 5 already signed is going to come from which also may include the final 2 signed .Bearing in mind if we should sign Nicholls, who would expect him to carry his average of 9.72 through the season or add anything to it. That's why I think if this is plan A , then when new averages are issued look out for plan B to kick in. Never have I felt so underwhelmed or been less enthusiastic about the start of a new season.

  36. Kus + wet track = o points , if Newcastle fans are so keen on him then sign him yourselves, bad influence on everything.
    1 point
  37. If it is Kus, it will be a major step back - very little progression in him - if any, if it is him - and he is the second heat leader, we will get some huge pastings away from home, and only avoid them at home due to the strong reserves and hopefully MBA and Stewart dialling themselves in to the MPA... for me that team puts too much pressure on Barker - hopefully the rumours are wrong...

  38. As an outside observer, it seems to me that ALL Coventry fans MUST get behind this enterprise. IF they do not, then any incentive to resurrect the club within the Coventry precincts must diminish...the reverse is obviously true. I have read many criticisms of Mick Horton which strike me as being broadly unfair and untrue. In any case, is it not a fact that any club is bigger and more important than any promoter who happens to be in charge during any period of its history ?

  39. I just hope that the authorities do not end up going to electric bikes as if it is as boring as Formula E motor racing the sport will die very quickly.

  40. dont agree with you on this one real fans go to watch entertaining speedway and stand by riders during ups and downs people who stand by the promotion regardless of any mistakes they make or decisions are not real fans there just puppets

  43. Its an impossible argument. One did it, the other might have. Its not like comparing two 7 times world champs in a sport from different eras, which is hard enough. Worth watching the documentary on youtube about Mauger.

  46. Write to me at Speedwayontheisland@yahoo.co.uk and I will be delighted to send you and yours a family ticket to experience the Warrior Way with us in 2018. If at the end of it you dont like it, or feel we can improve it (this is always possible) then tell me, but if you and yours like it, shake my hand to visit your local track or us again. All the best Barry (Co-promoter IOW)

  47. Many a time I have paid £32 on the gate at a BSB event and have never felt that I have not had value for money. It is an excellent day out for the cash and I cannot always say that about speedway. Next week I am going to the Arenacross which again is fantastic value at £36. In our group we are taking a mum and her 11 year old who has never been to a motorcycle event. She wanted to show him motorbikes in the action as he quite enjoys the moto gp on tv. I know that taking him there he will have a great night as it is non stop entertainment for 3 hours. As living near Reading the closest track to me is Swindon and I know if we took them there the chance of her wanting to return is low due to the facilities at the stadium and the journey being a pain. The only speedway that I would take them to is Cardiff.
    1 point
  48. You don't pay a pound a minute do you .Most meetings are around two hours. Unless using your stupid theory you would only see around 6 minutes horse racing in 3 hours around 14 minutes in 3 hours at greyhound racing. Then about 4 minutes action in around 4 hours around 18 holes of golf There is only about 12 minutes played in one hour of tennis. Even football in around 62 minutes per match.Even in darts only about a fifth of the match are darts being thrown. Nobody makes comparisms about time in other sports so why do some speedway pundits keep doing so
