Love it, we better asterisk that championship then in true ridiculous American style... Roll of Honour 2018 SGB Championship Winners - Workington* *Craig Cook was not present for the Glasgow Tigers in the Championship Play Off Semi-Final fixtures, his replacement Ricky Wells only averaged 10.66 over both legs5 points

With Rye House’s results being expunged mid-season, Chris Harris’s average should have reverted to his starting average, which would have been too high for Poole to sign him. Should the BSPA remove Chris’s points from Poole’s results and award the 2018 title to Kings Lynn?4 points

It's not fantasy and is an option any team would consider as he is not only entertaining but also capable of being one of the best in the league. However including Piotr would mean no return for one of Jacob or Rory and one is almost part of the family and one considered by the management as the backbone of the club on and off the track. if he is looking at Britain as a way of getting more meetings then he will surely be a target of another track if Wolves don't take him on or could they use him as part of a swap deal with another club ? Whoever they get they will have a solid top four all capable of good scores and in Becker and Howarth they have potential to improve and without much pressure. Basically they hey have exchanged two mediocre riders in Jonas B Andersen and Nathan Greaves for two Internationals of Nick Morris and Luke Becker which is a big improvement on the 2018 team that lacked back up to the top three.4 points

Quite agree. I think some Glasgow fans are overreacting to genuine comments on the promotions tactics and behaviour during the signing and contract details of prospective riders for the following season. There is NO hatred, or a wish to see ANY club close, by any forummers on here. Instead, we all see a certain irony that a team known for dubious attempts to get a rider to move to them, instead of staying with a club who they have already agreed to join, pleading hardship because of their own practices. I also think it is dubious that Glasgow fans don't accept that some on here, including me, do not know actually deals, when with a bit shopping around at Ashfield there will be people who will tell them. It has gone on, so why try and ignore what others know.4 points

No hatred from me and I don't believe there are many, if any, who want to see any club go out of business. You are in the enviable position of having people with lots of money behind your team, and your owners and sponsors can spend their cash as they see fit. Particularly as it is unlikely that speedway have the equivalent of football's Financial Fair Play rules, which are currently being used to scrutinise the accounts of the Glasgow Tigers of football. Unfortunately this and our thread has taken on some of the traits of the Brexit debates, reams and reams of utter tosh interspersed with the odd comment which may be factually correct. Good luck to you I say, you probably have the best facilities in the Championship and will probably also be watching the best rider in the Championship again this year. Best team? We will just have to wait and see.3 points

Very much depends on the individual riders. There are 2.00ers who are very much on the up and 4.00ers who have stagnated at that level for years.3 points

Basically the hate ball started rolling from November 14th on page 14 of this thread.....not pointing any fingers though.....lol Sad thing is, some naive people , who don't seem to realise that speedway is and always has been a ruthless and fickle game, are being caught up and getting too serious about the whole thing. Workington and Glasgow have had a good relationship in the past and this should be maintained. These political and managerial things happen.......let's get on with enjoying our speedway.3 points

No just getting a good rider on a relatively low average, it is ok for you to say that as you have the best British rider that will be riding in this country.2 points

Don't think its a hatred of Glasgow, but merely a few over sensitive, defensive replies from 1 or 2 Glasgow fans,,, which may suggest an element of guilt2 points

Your not wrong, certainly in the case of the Championship it was in the hands of the BSPA office for a while but they passed it on and arranged a meeting of respective promoters and you all know what followed. It should be easier in the Premiership this year with just two days to chose from but I dare say someone will make it as difficult as possible.2 points

I love that the fans of a club come on hear and accuse Glasgow of stealing riders away from a club by offering more money when what I heard today was that their own club has just done the same to secure the services of a rider for the 2019 season.2 points
-
Think that was always most likely in the circumstances The established 5 will just shuffle the most sought after riders between them and leave the new 2 to pick up the pieces In the abscence of any new blood (there seems little rider appetite from outside the current pool) its very difficult to break the mould of also rans To do so would probably require greater finance than the purse strings attached to this new set up allows2 points

Dont think there is , and you cant justify dropping the points limit to 38 and then increase the admission price2 points

thankyou for that im sure all Workington fans hope he rides well too especially when we go to Scunthorpe2 points

Dont think this should be swept under the carpet. Buster needs to carry out an impartial investigation and award the title to Kings Lynn.2 points

Think trying to run the den 7 days a week with 3/4 staff including a full time chef and having a full time stadium manager over a year must have taken up a fair wack of the loss and even on match day they trippled there staff there and everybody was on the books and worked for allied and think that’s why they are wanting volunteers to cover this now they paint the place top to bottom every year since they have been there and are always trying to make things better for the punter it’s just the way they work very professional in everything they do in business, they didn’t get to where they are now without a few hiccups they will get it right eventually but they are learning every year2 points

Like Charlie boy I too live near Ty, I walk to the stadium every meeting takes me 25 to 30 minutes to get to the stadium. Ty literally lives on the doorstep, anybody who was given the opportunity to cut down such a drastic amount their travel to their job for the same money or around the same money would jump at the chance to do it. Ty also in the interview was at pains to thank the Promotion and fans for the opportunity and support that he had been given at Workington, and if wasn't down to long commute which now does not have to face he would have more than likely stayed with the Comets.2 points

Would be very disappointed if rival fans wanted to see any club close, I think it’s to do with the statement that our Championship future could be in jeopardy yet we are supposedly still paying more than other clubs, and in some cases outbidding other clubs for riders. The marketing side is still fantastic with the video for season tickets very well thought out, If/when we announce Cook & Jensen I’m certain opposition supporters will find it difficult to understand the ( we can’t go on losing money statements ) in light of the allegations made against the club by so many of the forum users on these pages about silly money being thrown at riders.2 points

Indeed - they need to be clear in what they want to achieve and construct the reg accordingly Is it competed in the 3rd tier Is it British passport holders Is it those elligible to ride for GB internationally And if one contadicts another which has the override In many ways it doesnt matter which current riders would be included/excluded as it should be the principle that is important not the individual2 points

Yea. Ashley out and our Ashley back in. Think, and hope, he will be back with us where he started to realise his potential, after losing his teamplace at Worky, Peterborough, etc. Got to be remembered that Ashley waited for a teamplace with us before we confirmed we were running in 2018. Riders like that, loyal to a promotion, are hard to come by and deserve to be in queue before others. He rode in my afternoon training school late in the season, and loved being with the young riders, and especially riding on the small bikes that the kids first ride. He was in his element and everyone loved having him there for that day.2 points

I would assume that the BSPA would offer up time for the Brummies to accumulate some riding assets. Especially as the BSPA stripped the Brummies of all their previous rider assets when they were in the National League, so leaving the team to start from nothing. For as long as it takes to get an asset base together, the Brummies will be under considerable financial pressure. For now, every rider will incur loan fees without any "own asset" riding elsewhere earning loan fees in return. The established teams will be able to balance out the swings with the roundabouts, whereas the Brummies won't have that luxury, so whilst other teams can budget on paying for their riders, the Brummies first have to see what's left in the wages kitty after feeding the other teams in the league who they have to pay the loan fees to. Something to be remembered when the inevitable squeels are heard from some fans when they learn of the increased admission prices for next year.1 point

You seem to be forgetting that it wasn't just the RH riders whose averages were adjusted - it was also all teams' riders that had ridden against them!!1 point

Honestly I know the two deals were not that far apart on points money, it was the "add on's" and fringe benefits that swung the deal, and again being honest I did not get to find out what those "add on's" were (and if I did I wouldn't be putting it out on here that's for sure) but at the end of the day Workington's last offer fell short so that was the end of it, and again at the end of the day if Glasgow can afford it they can offer what they want with as many bells and whistles attached. It is between the rider and the club and that's it. In fact even if they cant afford it they can still offer what the want. Ultimately a rider will do what he perceives as to what is best for himself and his career and there isn't much loyalty in sport these days and that is any sport for that matter not just Speedway. Finally you know what my grump was, (and it wasn't the deal) so I wont rake over those coals again. Mr Uluru from down under has made a valid point as too has Sing13 and Glasgow have paid over their monies and they will take their chance on a rider who is a hot property at the moment and definitely a talent on a bike and like most Danes is a consummate professional who; and again if I am totally honest was a pleasure to work with last season and always gave 100% effort; when others sometimes spat the dummy, So I do hope he kicks on this season and the Glasgow fans get see what he can do. #SpecialJ I will watch his progression through the sport with interest, he's a genuine kid (and his old man is a good lad too) and a talented Speedway rider whose aggression and control on a bike was fantastic to watch. That's the thing, the rules are there to cut doubling up but they've been ignored and just continued with using existing Championship averages. Don't understand why you'd create such a conversion rate, which increases year on year but allow rider's to maintain existing averages, it just doesn't make any sense at all.1 point
