That sounds terrible imagine regular speedway on regular nights during the summer, even worse if it was first week of May until end of August, all those dreadful nice warm evenings with reduced threat of rain and the whole of September reserved for Play Offs, Cup finals etc. Thankfully everyone will see sense and run erratically, enjoy the Easter weekend washout and embrace the rush of fixtures before the cut off dates / freezing their toes off watching the season wimper out in late October.5 points

Delays due to choice do put people into thinking it's dragging on - particularly when the environment for fans is unpleasant or there is little else in terms of entertainment to occupy them during 'down times'. This is where speedway can make changes - undercover spectating, additional entertainments etc. to engage fans rather than just watch 15 races. When attending an american football event in London once it lasted about 3.5 hours but it didn't seem that long because of the additional entertainment on offer and I wasn't too cold or wet. Surely if we took the simple step of grading every four heats, then have 5 minute break after heat four and twelve, with a 10 minute break after heat 8. This should give officials, and volunteers the time to have a break and satisfy those who want to keep things moving.4 points

Everybody understands that... Nobody is saying have no intervals. What most people want is for the meeting to flow, with holdups kept to a minimum. What really gets my goat is when we have a long track grade, sometimes as long as 20 mins , then have another race then followed by the planed Interval.. We talk about the fans who don't support the sport anymore, yet the Promoters appear blinded to understanding the reasons why...….4 points

Don't forget the track staff, officials, St.Johns (or whoever) would also like to get a cuppa and/or to have a pee!!3 points

Fricke stepping up to the plate again, Lidsey had a terrrific meeting to finish third could Max flourish again this year i hope so.3 points

The only time when the procedure shows any urgency is when they run double headers. Its such a shame they don't show the same with every meeting... They're tunnel vision is directed only in hanging the meeting out , thus allowing more time to spend your money, whereas the more positive thinking would be aimed at keeping those, in attendance , happy so they attend next time...3 points

not many hold them full on , half to 3/4 then let the clutch out and give it full throttle , when taters was the worlds best gater he used to say a fast start happens in the first 3 yards by feathering the clutch and throttle to make it grip , full throttle from the start will just help to dig a hole .3 points

Just as an aside did anyone see the pictures from the WA state title meeting in Oz? Nice 'retro' racesuit for Cam - one at least 5 years old. Id say that shows his training programme is on track2 points
-
and with a comment like that I can understand why speedway is in such a mess . Id have thought trying to get more to attend would be a better idea rather than say stay at home . But there you go2 points

What i have noticed with Fricke is he now is a real racer exciting to watch and can pass for fun.I always thought he was technically gifted a bit of a gater and maybe a bit to placid not anough devil there but these last two years he has come on nicely loads more to come i believe.2 points

And that's the reason why the attendances have dropped over the years.... Making a comment like that, you must be a promoter …..2 points

The Aussie champs arent usually a guide as i said Tungate always does better in them then he does over here. That said Kurtz and Morris were average in them last season and had poor seasons, and if anything they are both worse this time around. Fricke , a true number one doing great and good to see Chris Holder showing some form. And how good does Lidsey look and he is at reserve for Belle Vue , if he brings a small amount of that form over here will be the signing of the season2 points

Hasn't this always been the case, with a 7.30 start ? With racing commencing at 7.45.2 points

There is nothing wrong with me but if you go about calling people names and insulting them rather then debate then you have already lost the argument2 points

I have been monitoring both Max and Brady Kurtz closely for some years now. Being a Poole supporter I seriously thought Kurtz was going to overtake Max when he burst on to the scene in his first full season at Somerset in 2014. Max being 6 months older (both still only 22) has had the benefit of one season more due to his 6 month age advantage, having started in 2013. However Max has won 4 x Aussie U21 titles - plus 1 x World U21 title and is mighty close to winning his first Aussie Senior title in a stronger field with Chris Holder back there and with Tungate/Holder Jr and Kurtz all having supposedly improved in the Aussie Champ over the last 2/3 years. Max even had the delight of being in 3 league winning teams in POL (Nice 1) - SWE Elite and Danish Elite Leagues in the same season a couple of years ago. Not too many can boast that achievement at his age. Max may still have some issues with some of the UK tracks at times (I know Poole wasn't one of his fav in the past), but the stats don't lie. He is pushing on and Brady still has a lot of convincing to do and my fear is he could be another Morris. OK but falls short of the very top drawer. Got away with it with Leszno last season in a league winning side which partly covered some of his low scores. In Poole it showed up big time as he went backwards big time. Max started young but he is progressing at a good rate and think both Belle Vue and Wroclaw have a good rider who is progressing well (let's not forget he isn't 23 until 29th March so a whole career still in front). Looks best at the present of the 3 in Holder Jr/B.Kurtz and Fricke.1 point

Ok Mrs, thanks for your advice, but I will go when I wish to go. I don’t need anyone to tell me where and when I can go. However thank you for your opinion. Please don’t allow anyone to tell you what you should do with your free time and expendable income. Will you ?1 point

I am not sure just how much faith the Comets, as a club, are now putting in that statement from the council ? As we all know, humans can SAY all sorts of things, to make themselves or their employers sound helpful ! But in reality.......................................1 point

Published start time at Lynn means nothing. 7.30 should be replaced by when Buster has all the available admission money safely tucked away. ( over priced refreshments optional).1 point

The PZM are desperately trying to get another team out of Div 2 to join the Nice Polska league to replace the non- licence Rzeszow team. The clubs have until mid Jan to accept the invitation. Maybe Bydgoszcz will take the plunge under their new management.1 point

Nonsense...and don't forget you were BANNED by the webmaster (your own mate!) from that forum and you were also instrumental in it being closed!! I never had any problems with any posters on the Poole forum, never had a crossed word with any posters and I never received any warnings unlike yourself.1 point

Think there maybe a slightly earlier start time to our matches in the 2019 season. It says on the website all home matches will start at 7:30pm unless stated. There's one for you Haza1 point

To be fair that's hardly a very high bar though is it. You have been asked to name names, either put up or shut up, anyway I`m not sure why any issues revolving around Berwick speedway would bother you as you aren't going anymore.1 point

Time will tell, but it should be a very entertaining team to watch at home...1 point

Indeed. I’ve been here for a long time. Took a break for a short while, essentially because of what you’ve just said. It was once a thriving community but Christ it’s scraping the barrel now. Some absolute planks on these boards.1 point

PROBABLY bringing speedway into line with every other form of motorcycle racing under the FIM umbrella... many in favour after a comprehensive study by an FIM working party1 point

if its not going to kick in other than the start , ( most are not even revving full out at the start anyway ) hows it going to save any engine wear ,. Unban titanium which gains extra power by allowing higher revs but costs the earth , then bring in a new untried piece of clobber (no doubt another expensive piece of junk ) to prevent what you assisted by un banning titanium .. somethings stinks here . can't wait to see who's behind this money maker1 point
-
Of course once upon a time riders used to twist the throttle back and forwards on the start line so as to gain maximum grip when the tapes rose...now of course it's just full revs with the throttle full on akin to rocket propulsion when the clutch is eventually released.1 point
-
The hard limit to be set at 13500 - cant see this being an issue anywhere other than the startline so any fears of it kicking in mid corner are surely unfounded Presumably this is an attempt to reduce engine wear and therefore costs by removing the issue at the start where almost all the stress halpens Even there the opinion of Chris Louis was that the benefit would be minimal1 point

There is room for all of Facebook, live updates, and all the other sites that analyse things. As I see it updates is really only about communicating who won and what the heat results & scores are in as quick a time as possible. The dissection, analysis, praising, and criticising can come later. Which ever people see as their favourite or which they think is better is up to them. Some people want every minute detail, some only want to know who won. My only issue is I hate duplication of effort. This year a representative from MA is updating the Australian Championship Facebook page quite soon after it happens, and this is the first year they have done that. If it continues it will reduce the significance of live updates and live updates may end up ceasing altogether, but let it be said live updates has filled a void for about 10 years. We all know of certain sites that have used what was on updates to ghost write articles for their own publications so updates has both directly and indirectly helped spread the word. However, social media like Facebook is the way things are going and the more traditional forums seem to be dying out. I have no issue if updates eventually fades into the background where the Australian Championships are concerned, although those that don’t like Facebook will still look at updates. In 15 years Facebook will probably have had its day as well and we all will have moved on to the next platform anyway.1 point

I asked Chris Louis at a recent supporters night about these and his opinion was that they were close to pointless1 point

Fantastic rider in his day, and probably would have had at least one world title if it wasn't for an engine failure.1 point

Hello, well, I believe both things do matter. Only Woffinden, Lambert and recently Bewley have established themselves as decent points providers in Ekstraliga or 1. Liga. Cook had two very dissapointing seasons in Rybnik and i think he's done in Poland. Others, like Lawson, the Worrall bros are good enough to consider them as solid second strings at the lowest level. Generally, Brits have bad reputation in Poland since Harris and Nicholls' - poor showing a few years ago. Generally, they're viewed as riders with suspected approach, not eager to ride in Poland, without equipment suitable for slick, concrete Polish tracks. For sure, it's a bit unfair but that's the way it is.1 point

I agree with that. The play-offs are a bit of a money spinner though, but only for the clubs involved. It brings all the casual fans out for one or two matches. What needs to happen is to entice the casuals out for the whole season not just for the last two matches. Not sure the play-offs actually bring out newbies though.I have tried getting people from work to come explaining about the play-offs and all the ones i have spoke to think it's a bit of a joke. All i get is you run all season finish top and have nothing to show for it and you could lose it in one match. All i can say is well yes and that's it.I don't mind the play-offs but the team finishing top of the league should at least get some kind of trophy to show for their efforts over the season.1 point
