There's a reason restaurants put you in the window when your the first in each evening... Or put their early evening bookings there... It's so the casual observer as they pass will think... "If they have got that many in, it must be good in there"... On the other hand. Speedway allows any casual observer to think.. "If they have only get that many in, it mustn't be any good".. As you say, far too late for the penny to drop now..5 points

Summers was in decent form so expected more from him tonight. It can’t be understated what a fit Jake Allen brings to our team so to still be picking up league points without him is a huge credit.4 points

Ok. I’ll just end with this. Troy Batchelor who is never shy in coming forward has praised the track after the meeting. Said if you give him the tools to do his job he will preform like that. Said he’s enjoying turning up & not worrying about the track & bike set ups as the track has improved & will only get better. Now some may say “he’s a home rider, he’s bound to say that”....this is Batch, we will know he doesn’t stand for crap & we’ve seen this at Swindon so to say riding side by side was “dangerous” has massively over egged it.4 points

After the meeting can we discuss the important issue of which jacket is best for watching speedway in. I realise that jackets are at a higher level than socks and shoes so the OP maybe confused but we won't let that worry us!4 points

Ah just in from a great trip up to Lynn, brilliant performance from the witches tonight especially when 8 points down after just 5 races things weren’t looking quite so promising! Shame lawson king and summers weren’t more at the races and we could knicked a win! Surprised at just how poor summers was tbh, I know it’s kerr/lamberts home track but he was nowhere near them, he was never going to be banging points in like jakey but that was beyond poor. As was Lawson, he looked nervous on track tonight to me and bikes didn’t look fast. Lynn would always come strong with lambert and cook late on but what a ride from bomber to have the last laugh in ht15! anyway another 2 points happily gained on the road as the supposed “whipping boys” once again harness the underdog spirit and rise to the occasion can’t wait until we get a meeting where everyone is firing! up the witches!3 points

Well my mind was open but that was sh!te.3 points

Team game this though. King and Lawson have played big parts in great results as well this season while others struggled. We have a team of inconsistent riders but when one or two have hit their off night, thankfully a couple of others have stepped up to the mark like tonight. We’re going great guns3 points

Cricket has a rule where a club can be docked points for preparing a substandard pitch, maybe in speedway that could be looked for preparing a substandard track.3 points

This is what i posted a week ago today " I suggest that the BSPA ,BT Sport Poole Speedway do us all a favour and switch the TV match to either of Kings Lynn v Ipswich or Swindon v Belle Vue."3 points
-
It’s virtually every time the cameras are there the track is exposed every time yet then you get Shov telling everyone meetings are brilliant at Poole every week. This is just hang on and hope for the best. This is really not good advert for the sport at all. Why don’t the cameras just film from the NSS every week.3 points

Taken from Newcastle's Facebook page, for those who haven't seen it (or got FB): Everyone at Newcastle Speedway were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of long-time Diamond's supporter Gary Beaty this morning. Gary had supported the club for many, many years and most notably as one of the meeting security stewards until health issues prevented him from fulfilling that role, but he continued to attend every meeting with his fiancee Mandy. Gary had a varied set of interests including Newcastle United and events throught the City, and enjoyed a famous session as a contestant on Channel 4s Countdown a few years ago. Gary's presence at our future meetings will be missed immensely by staff management and fans alike and the Club would like to send out heartfelt condolences and sympathies to Mandy and all Gary's friends and family. Never mind it looking good for 'BT'. Utterly irrelevant. It's the sport of speedway it should be 'made to look good for'. Week after week, year after year of empty stadiums for TV meetings sends one message to the casual viewer... Speedway is not even worth considering. Far too late for the penny to ever drop now.3 points

Feel your pain. I have a couple of green t-shirts. Fine across the cooler months but last summer tried to combine with shorts and a no go. Looks terrible with denim and my grey cotton shorts were too smart for them.....who'd be a man. Very handy thread this though i must agree3 points

Got my new Samba's on Saturday... They are so cool my 16 year old lad wants to wear them this Saturday night when he's out with his mates... Dark Blue Suede.. Goes with both a darker and lighter shade of jeans.. A great thread this, just what the forum needed... Well done Zagar Racing...3 points

Seen three Poole meetings now this season* and at no point of any of them can I ever recall Nicolai Klindt passing an opponent after bend two lap one! Fair play the lad can trap though and I guess that pays the bills. *and a few last season too2 points

Never thought I would say this but to see Poole Speedway like that is sad .. No crowd a cow pat of a track and stadium looking like a tip ..The grass in the center green was not even cut .. The meeting itself was garbage and that is being kind .2 points
-
I think that has to be considered a point gained considering we were six down twice towards the end of the meeting but we can’t afford to drop home points especially against essentially a two man team on the night. We need Riss back ASAP and somebody either in the team now or who can be brought in to step up to the plate at reserve on a regular basis.2 points

Well that was an excruciating watch tonight. Never did I think I would see the once mighty Poole in this state. Awful meeting on a dangerous track with bumps, inconsistent preparation and a large blue groove. The shabbily turned out Pirates , residing in what looks like a rundown stadium in front of the lowest crowd I've seen for a Poole TV match. If anybody was in any doubt that the sport is on life support this was it.2 points

They should at least be removed from the BT schedule until the track is sorted... Doesnt do the sport any favours and let's be honest, it needs as many favours as it can get nowadays..2 points
-
Let's be honest, the racing is crap isn't it? Riders more focused on remaining upright than racing, meaning big distances between them... Can't blame them...2 points

One bit of advice- forget Rawicz(cr&p track) and go to Torun for the SEC 2nd round2 points

Now back in Blighty after an excellent weekend. Yes it is all about being there seeing and hearing it live, you can be close to the action if you chose the right seats, although one of our party won't wear a white shirt next time . Will watch a recording later this week to see how TV compares but Warsaw and Prague are a must for the total package they offer. As for a Manchester and Cardiff GP, providing they are at opposite ends of the season it could be worth a go if the costs are not prohibitive. Easier to get to than the middle of a Swedish forest.2 points

My main point was centred around coming back from injuries to soon. If your body isn’t 100% then there is a risk you aren’t strong enough to handle the bike when conditions or incidents happen. I take your point tho, there was little Tobi could do in this instance.2 points

Ive been looking for the perfect thread for a while to raise this and i think this is finally the one......new trainers should i go classic white with summer approaching or mix it up and go for a red/burgundy?2 points

Having read that speedway has always used guests I decided to check up how many the club I supported used in their formative years fifty years or so ago because, for the life of me I could only remember them booking a guest once (for a #1 riding in a World Championship round) and permission to use him was withdrawn when the opposition complained. Anyway, they used one guest all season in their first year, none at all the second year then back to one the third year. They averaged less than two a year for the twenty years I've looked back at. So yes, guests have always been used but not in the sheer numbers they are now, culminating in the stupid situation of a 'team' turning up with five guests, one of their own riders and utilising R/R for the seventh team member. Maybe it's the number of guests being used these days that's putting some off rather than guests per se.2 points

BECAUSE PEOPLE WEREN'T WORRIED ABOUT IT! In the old days, there was no desire for "credibility". Or political correctness, equality, diversity, or whatever. I'm not just talking about speedway either... You either enjoyed something or you didnt. If you did, great. If you didn't, you went and did something else. If the latter, you didn't feel compelled to justify your opinions, or to ridicule those who didn't share your views. Look at the BSF... There are multitudes queuing up to tell you how bad, stupid, and worthless sports like football and F1 are. There are endless comparisons and false accusations in an effort to justify that opinion. Why? Speedway is - and always was - my favorite sport. I have have a lengthy and successful career in darts, but as much as I love darts, speedway was still Number One. I am a footy fan. I am an F1 fan. So? Does that make me stupid or inferior? As far as speedway, why is it that difficult to watch, and enjoy? Sure, it doesn't matter what you enjoy, there will always be things that you think are bad or stupid. Oh well... I went to speedway because : 1) I loved watching the racing. 2) I had a passion for my Wimbledon team. Is that not enough? Some nights, the fare was poor. And? Sh!t happens... Was rider control "credible"? Of course not. Did it drive the fans away? And you can't keep claiming that PC put "thousands" on the gate at Hyde Rd. Great rider, and great to watch. BUT, fans flocked to Hyde Rd in their thousands before PC. Fans flocked to speedway in their thousands before television coverage. Fans flocked to speedway in their thousands when we had guest riders in the 60's and 70's. There are many reasons why speedway - certainly British speedway - isn't as popular as it once was, but not every reason is speedway-related. More importantly, it has little or nothing to do with credibility... Steve2 points
