  1. Just to confirm doing rest of the season at Lynn. Can be at No. 7 until end of August. Bringing 3 bikes plus 4 engines plus Polish mechanic. (No GTR door stop - lol) had good season with Wilki Krosno. Last home meeting broke the track record there in 68.32secs 410m Poland’s longest track. Really looking forward to the rest of season at Lynn and to try to make playoffs. Been asked by a number of teams if he wishes to double up, but has refused all offers as wants to concentrate on Lynn. Hope this gives you info you wanted. See you 25th July

  4. Very professional set up in Suffolk... What with the website and match day programme. Also great attire for the riders including team shirts, coats and fleeces. And not forgetting matching team suits and bike covers.

  5. It’s all about VFM - and speedway in its current guise is miles away from that - IMHO

  10. NBJ is coming over to UK to ride for Berwick so hardly resting cos of his illness and he has accepted at least one guest booking! Why can they not just tell the truth and say they think Ricky will perform better? Instead of half excuses.

  14. I'd say it has to be somewhere between the two for good racing.

  16. Track record means a fast track, not necessarily a racing track, with different racing lines.

  17. That's quite right....it was a 'track' imbalance....however, it opens up a whole new debate about whether the rider has quick enough reactions to control the bike, like Tungate did a bit later on and also it questions the rider's balance/style.....being of a small/light frame probably doesn't help JB, as I'm sure a hell of a lot of strength is needed to hang on in those situations. He's a brave rider, but may be doesn't have the physical attributes needed to avoid sticky situations? just a thought.......

  18. Health and safety would go into meltdown just looking at that photo. What Berwick speedway (and football) would give for a crowd like that these days.

  21. I just can’t fathom why anyone would want to make the inside line at one of the best speedway tracks around so grippy thus turning it into a one liner. Baffling.

  22. Club have said R/R tomorrow. I hope Musielak is fully fit as otherwise it’ll put massive strain on the team. Here’s how i’d Play it.....Vissing heat 1, Musielak heat 6, Rasser heat 8 & Batch heat 11

  23. Part of me is pleased that Porsing is coming back. Always thought he was a rider who had so much to give. Unfortunate, his form was too erratic, and his his good scores were as frequent as his bad ones were.. Cant help thinking this has come too late to rescue the season and should have been explored months ago.. I would be much more excited if they announced we were getting a new track man, who has been given a free hand to produce decent track. Where once we use to be ultra keen for the next meeting to come round, now we look for any excuse not to go, cause we are so fed up watching drab processional races...... Will he ever learn......

  25. Spot on. If every club (no exceptions) had a professional website & social media approach, matching team suits and bike covers and a properly prepared track it wouldn’t cure every problem but the sport would come across one hundred times better than it currently does. As you say the bar representing the acceptable bare minimum needs to be raised way, way higher than it is now.

  30. We have replaced S.Lambert with Porsing,so there's one option
    2 points
  31. Yes but you don't need to prepare it to that extent. Just let it develop during the meeting. One of the better meetings this season was when we didn't get the bull about track records, just prepared a sensible track and all but left it for the whole meeting. The racing was terrific. Although the track this season has been a bit of a dogs in racing terms, to be fair to Chapman, inconsistency of track preparation has been an issue for many seasons at the EoES, mainly due to long breaks between meetings meaning it's always like starting again. When there's a group of meetings then they seem to get some consistency but we quickly return to square one when you can't see the next meeting over the horizon.

  33. A report in Speedway World gave the eight qualifiers for the final of this competition, to be held on 21st June. They were Dennis Newton, winner of the meeting with 15, Jim Tebby 14, Stan Bedford 13, Dave Slater 11, Gil Goldfinch 11, Stan Crouch 9, Bernie Aldridge 9, Alan Briggs 8.

  34. The track isn’t ruined. There has been some fantastic racing on it this season but Monday wasn’t good. Seems fairly simple but the inside needs to be slicker than the outside. Then you get the quality of racing that we all want and know can be produced on that track.

  35. I think Ablitt’s problem is he never really did much competitive racing on a 500? As opposed to the Thompson twins and Palin who did a lot of before meeting races and the whole winter amateur meetings at Scunthorpe etc. He only raced the 250 then when it came to racing the 500 he actually had very little experience on it hence why he’s so raw and crashes?

  40. I would love to follow the team away from home but commitments don't allow at the moment. One day hopefully. You're right, I am positive about Berwick speedway, basically because I enjoy my Saturday nights with friends. I often think that speedway fans must be the most negative people around. The sport is absolutely unique, speed and power up close.

  42. Totally agree with mmmmethanol on that score. Ben has been at No 2 all season & scored quite well at Arlington but has struggled away. But this is the case for most No 2’s at every other club in the Championship away from their home track. Ben has not had the luxury of riding down at reserve this season like others have at other clubs & OK Jason is probably worthy of a run in a Championship team, I just hope it doesn’t effect his confidence like others who have tried the step up, only to eventually be dropped and lose interest in riding speedway & calling it a day. Another thing to note is that with this change being made Georgie will now ride at No 2 meaning only having 4 programmed rides & not a possible 7 rides as he would have at reserve resulting in the possible loss of the big scores he was achieving at Arlington. Personally I think this change would have been justified if 2 riders Ben and Kyle as the other had been dropped enabling the Eagles to bring in Jason as a 2 pointer & a potential 7 pointer to be the 4th heat leader. Could have brought in Bradley Wilson Dean if he is fit.

  43. If only all within and every aspect of speedway was presented and run in a similar manner If the sport has any hopes of a return to a higher standing in the eye of the public and media then this approach (IMO) is the minimum starting point I am fully expecting the 'but it doesnt earn you any extra points' mantra and that perhaps is true - although maybe it is that pride effort and ethos that has enabled a team labelled as also rans to be fightlng for top spot Whilst that mantra continues the sport will be plagued by short term self interest and be held back

  45. Obviously not so much monday night itself, but longer term having a big crash like that and all his injuries holding up can only fill the lad with confidence, which should allow him to attack the track that extra 2 or 3 percent harder. Which makes all the difference at the top level. Seems genuinely likeable and humble young man every time I ve seen him speak as well.

  46. Thank you. But when false accusations have been made you have to say something , all this finger pointing with out facts! plus what they have said is on the point of defamation. Those that started this vented attack should be ashamed.

  47. The Estonians have been concentrating on youth development for a few years now, and in time, they will have some good prospects coming through. It will be interesting to see how Viljam Lappi goes too, after scoring 17 points from 7 rides in his SM-Liiga debut.

  48. Yup, looking forward to the season starting in September with 3 in 10 days in potentially worse weather, the football season in full swing, speedway all but forgotten after an unprecedented summer break and Panthers at the foot of the table with nothing to ride for. Good luck with selling those meetings.

  49. Would imagine Chris Harris moving to Ipswich was all about Rohan Tungate not able to ride for Ipswich( bad blood) so a swap was the best answer to make both teams competitive.
