  1. If you deliberately post to wind people up then don't moan when you get flak back! If you can't take it don't dish it out !

  2. Unfortunately not, I get to around 2/3s of the home, and 4/5 away a season generally. I’d love to make every meeting, but the distance, work and my daughter do hold me back slightly. When I go though, I always try to bring a car load of people who wouldn’t normally go otherwise - friends, family etc, and I’m pleased to say that a handful of these have since become hooked and go week in, week out

  3. Don't know how anyone could slate this meeting. Been good. Lots of good racing.

  4. I will be travelling to this one. I have noticed fellow Workington fans at Redcar with a sprinkling of around a dozen Sheffield and Newcastle fans along with some from Scunthorpe and Belle Vue. I suppose if you have one of the best race tracks in the country along with a winning team you will attract the fans. Always felt entertained at the MPA , good presentation, decent food at decent prices and that Bear is always worth watching between races. Berwick usually push the Bears so I'm going 50-40.

  5. Steveo if the racing is good then it deserves to receive the plaudits for that. Equally if it’s dire then you get the other side of the coin. Sounds fair ? We have seen plenty of poor tracks on BT this season, and you have quite correctly called them for it. Now Poole have a perfect opportunity to showcase what a good track is all about with 2 class teams on show. Game on

  7. When Tom Spencer lay on the track and didn't move, it was obviously a serious and worrying situation but it was reassuring that he seemed able, eventually, to get into the ambulance with some assistance. I went to the loo as soon as the ambulance had left the track, and returned to the sight of a tractor going around, so immediately decided that was enough and left. So I don't know what announcements were made if any to explain what the situation was. But the whole episode has shown that attempting to start a second match at 8.30, especially an NDL match is not a good idea, especially as I think these matches are sadly more prone to long delays due to accidents. And of course that inadvisability includes the possibility that substantial track remedial work will be necessary in order to produce as safe a racetrack as possible for these inexpreienced riders. It was therefore ironic and annoying that, after the lengthy work done following the Glasgow match, the first heat of Cubs v Cradley revealed a lethal fault on the racing line on bend 3 which required yet more time to fix. And if the availability of additional medical cover is problematic when attempting to stage a double header, for whatever reasons whether that is cost or availability, then it's a no-brainer to just not attempt it in the first place.

  8. After the pathetic showing on Thursday, I can't believe there wasn't one rider out practicing after the meeting trying things out. Louis should have them all out there. Can't believe what Hawkins was doing either. The TS should've been used at the earliest possible time like heat 6-7, why wait until the match was virtually over and use it in heat 13 against Doyle & Batchelor who were both unbeaten and then to really extract the urine he puts Harris in heat 15. Clueless!!!

  9. I wouldn't have any of the Danish lot back, they just seem to sizzle when it gets hot

  10. Talking in general Rob.. Too much of a comfort zone for these lads is built by having the option to drop down.. Dan has left the second tier behind (or at least he should have), but no doubt next year his average will once again allow him to drop back down again and make him a desirable rider for some lower order team.. Woffy did it right by getting out, no point being a big fish in a tiny pond as that isn't a truly reflection of where you are in the bigger picture, therefore these lads need to face proper pressure every week rather than riding in front of 1000 or so with no one too bothered who wins... Riding under real pressure from fans and owners can only focus the mind more acutely.. I think some lads get far too much praise, far too early, without actually doing anything but beating mediocre domestic rivals, which can give a far too highly inflated reputation... After four or five seasons of racing I would suggest you are not too far away from where your true level is so if your still doubling up, your probably not going to make it to the top level as you really should have moved on..

  11. Swindon by 16 ..Poole won't be able to ride on a track with no bumps

  12. It’s not fixed, it’s better. Bad ruts and wavey still but at least the boys can race it harder. Tons better tho.

  13. Good meeting (pity about the result) and track definitely better than earlier in the year (although not perfect - but what track is - excepting the NSS?)

  15. The draw was the draw and we made the most of it. We are cup finalists, so should make the most of it. Granted, League form has been disappointing and, as I told Martin Phillips in the pits last night, I expected a lot better from this team and so did he. Perhaps (and hopefully) lessons have been learned.

  16. If the track is the same as it has been since the work was done it should be a good meeting.

  21. Is that what he said? NO!!! He said that the sport "is littered with pretty poor riders who were good at one track". That doesn't mean "all" riders, and that doesn't mean they were "crap". You really don't help yourself by constantly accusing others of saying things they didn't...

  23. What you mean by a few posters on here. In the after meeting conference he got big round of applause, which put a big smile on his face.

  26. You wont name names but keep going on about Barnes. You only have to read your posts to see what your game is. Get a life dude. Barnes is not the go to guy, he just does what he can to help out when asked. After speaking to him last week he told me he lost a load of money on expenses and a days work to help out Len & Chris going to Manchester, but said Len helped him in the past so thought it would be the decent thing to do. You wont have to worry now anyway because he is injured, so now you will have to find someone else to slur on here. So come on name names it will save time because speedway is a small family and things have a way of eaking out.

  27. Never read such rubbish in all my life. What on earth do you mean, and what are you talking about ? Who are all these riders that Kent have alienated ? Which riders have been "treated in a negative light" ? And what does that mean anyway. Not the first time I've found "Sings" spouting nonsense. I'm an ex-Hammers fan who now attends most Mondays at Kent. The team has been hard hit by injuries this year, yet are still in a strong position. So what's to criticise ?

  28. Who are you referring to? If you mean Mulford he’d struggle to find a team on 5.18. Edit: You must mean Ablitt, thinking about it, but even then it’s not a great average for him because with a low points limit that could make him a 3rd heat leader in teams. For example, IOW started with RTD as 3rd heat leader on 5.22. But it’s a bit high to be a second string.

  31. It has been said by someone that the 40 minutes taken to prep the track between matches and the NL riders track walk did not unnecessarily delay proceedings because it took a similar time to remove the CL riders from the pits area and to then install the NL riders who then needed to warm up their bikes. If this is correct and was known about in advance then it is impossible to stage 2 matches in 4 hours and should not have been attempted.

  32. Bandits 1 Aaron Summers 2 Jye Etheridge 3 Dany Gappmaier 4 Kev Doolan 5 Nicolaj Busk Jacobsen r/r 6 Coty Garcia 7 Leon Flint Scorpions 1 Jake Allen 2 Danny Ayres r/r 3 Stefan Nielsen 4 Josh Auty 5 Ben Barker 6 Ryan Kinsley 7 Simon Lambert A rare midweek home outing for the Bandits against a Scorpions side filled with riders who have all gone well at Shielfield in the past – Ben Barker recently so when guesting for Somerset. Should be a comfortable home win but as heat 15 on Saturday showed it’s best not to take anything for granted. Both sides operating rider-replacement. Housekeeping notes: gates open 6.30pm. Anyone who was at the Eastbourne meeting already has a programme containing the racecard for Wednesday night. If you forget to bring it, weren’t there on Saturday, are a supporter of Scunthorpe, a 15-match Bandits’ season pass holder determined to get their full entitlement or just have a thing for buying programmes they are on sale as normal, priced £3. As usual accompanied children are admitted free. Friends and Family deal operating. Obviously if you already have a programme it doesn’t make financial sense – but life is all about making choices so if you insist we’ll let you pay an extra quid. Anyone wanting to join the new 5-1 Draw should waylay a member of the Supporter’s Club – most obviously on the third bend or in the B&G after racing finishes. Only 120 numbers and they were filling up fast on Saturday night. Monthly prizes of £500 and £100. £600 to the S.T.A.R.S. Project, first draw August 31.

  33. The new track has settled down now & is producing some brilliant racing, if you’ve not seen heat 15 from Wolves at home have a look on YouTube under Swindon Speedway. Weather looks sets fair for the rest of the week. Hopefully a decent crowd considering it’s the holiday season & Swindon have an online promotion wherefore 2 adults & 2 U16’s can get in for £30, includes 2 programmes as well. Great offer for the family!!!

  34. Decent meeting that for the neutral. Close racing, some team riding, fair amount of passing. Better than you tend to get at most tracks in this country (NSS apart) and certainly better than that rubbish last Monday.

  38. There is always a danger when trying to rescue a slick track that dragging dirt over the holes etc means that you have a marble-y surface with hidden dangers underneath. Sadly meetings like this cause the NL no end of harm as the product on show does not reflect what can actually be served up. In reality this should have been run the other way round with the NL match starting first (and earlier) as the track damage would be lesser and then the big names could have ridden the track later in the day with their superior abilities. That way Leicester could have charged the double header rate until X time/heats of the NL match and then the regular rate for those who just wanted to view the higher tier.

  39. You clearly haven't been watching Max regularly at Brough Park this season. Last night he took a heck of a knock in heat 2, so you'd be a bit slower than normal for the rest of the night after that. Max has been one of the few shining lights so far this season. Along with Matty Wethers. Danny now scoring what he should at home now. Edwards finished second in the U-19 British Final, so has something about him.

  40. I agree there are few alternatives but this is the situation speedway has allowed its self to get into its all self inflicted- wait till the play offs there will be even more conflict of interest and it will be even harder to justify.

  42. Went up there tonight to watch thinking Newcastle were gonna have this given Eastbourne's last two results up North and Given how well Clegg can go around Brough thought he would be up there. What started out well for the Diamonds I think they got a shock when the Eagles kept chipping away and not giving up was some consolation to end their three meeting tour. It was a case of "You snooze you lose" for the Diamonds tonight. The biggest noise was coming from the Eastbourne fans and fair play to them. I too wondered if some riders are dropping back to change their averages for next season and with Newcastle down the bottom are they bothered now. Not good for the fans.

  43. I thought the food just up the road was ok.When we were there last year for the play-offs we looked pretty much everywhere close, but was only fast-food.So we decided to go in i think it was a hotel on the corner just at the turn onto Kirkmanshulme lane(spelling). The food was ok don't think it was that expensive neither.A kind Belle Vue fan will be able to tell you the name of it.

  46. I wonder why they need to be in the pit bays to warm the bikes up and this couldn't have been done outside in the paddock area. But like you say 2 matches (30 minutes racing, 90 mins with 2 minute warnings) can't be done in 4 hours, it's been attempted twice, failed both times... at least I'll know in future
