  1. As we draw closer to the end of the domestic Speedway season I would personally like to thank the people over @ Speedway updates for there continued service during the season.

  2. Great news for Poole fans, Jack Holder must have recovered from his bruised toe nail, now confirmed in the line up for the CZ golden helmet. I am attending the meeting, so will pass on all the well wishers from the many concerned Poole supporters of that nasty injury!!

  3. we could hear you in the pits all night, expect SS had his ear plugs in, and was sobbing so loudly he couldn't hear anything

  4. You can tell when Shovvy is telling porkies...... His lips move

  5. Well, if it is included, I hope there are no Poole riders invited, they struggle to complete 4 laps at Foxhall

  6. Funny - I stood on the first bend and would describe the crowd as energetically and enthusiastically loud. (as they were ag Poole in the latter part of the first leg clash.)

  7. Well the winter is a long time so I for one will be there to watch. It’s an official trophy so worth winning.

  8. Many have described Poole as the Man Utd of Speedway. Now I get what they mean.

  9. As a Lynn fan, I wanted Ippo to win. After toegate, I was on the edge of my seat, willing Ippo to win. Look at Sarg's ride on a very tricky track in the rain in HT 14. Got less skill, but bigger gonads than Holder and Kurtz put together. Shades of Holdergate at Lynn...

  10. As a number of teams have 2020 topics already - seems to be a good time to consider the Eagles options for next season. Already announcing after the final meeting on Saturday that Lewis Kerr and Kyle Newman will remain with Arlington side subject to agreement with their parent clubs, and confirmation of the overall league structure of the sport next year. Certainly those two riders would of been the first two names on my team sheet. Kerr has been excellent this season and is certainly a fans favourite. Newman has been excellent and has offered stability to the side and got better as the season has gone on. It is probably just a matter of time before Tommy Brennan is announced ; now that he is back on the bike. Depending on the average limit It would be a surprise if they didn't go for Edwards having offered him a couple of months to gain experience at Championship level.

  12. Maybe Rory phoned ahead and told the referee to check for damp patches .

  13. expect they dumbed it down so you could hear Nige and Kelv because believe you me, even without airhorns, it was noisy. For once when Natalie said a big crowd here tonight, she was actually telling the truth.

  14. You should congratulate them Starman. They won fair and square. No arguments there. It was our performance or non performance that cost.

  16. Still miss the days of Pride of the East to bring the curtain down on the current season. Could be done early October, throw in a few riders we want to look at for 2020, maybe change format to that of SGP to keep riders interest up through the meeting. Kind of fizzled out too early this year and a long winter ahead

  17. So would i, yet some 'promoters' still think the updates site has a detrimental impact on their crowds!

  18. Skidder - With respect. I support Poole but I am also interested when non Poole fans enter into interesting debate or offer both positive & negative comments in respect of opinion or team building. I accept that Steve Shovlar and Starman don't always get the best out of him in exchanges but that is because its like waving a red rag to a bull between them. That's one thing I have noticed in the last 3 years I have populated this forum. Personally he has always engaged with me when discussing speedway and we do not engage in comments re cheating/manipulation or anything other than sensible speedway exchanges. I can only comment from my perspective and that for me is good enough. For others - Well all I do is smile and have a giggle when the parties involved have their petulant exchanges :-)

  20. As there are no tactical substitutes in the final on what basis do Wolves have "a massive advantage" ? It seems to me that you did not get your own personal preference.

  22. But with an 8 year age difference Williams had the advantage of being at the top of his game when Craven was coming up and got out just as Craven was at the top. Only qualified for 4 Finals all at his home track,PC 10......

  24. What a complete and utter farce Speedway is ! Weather rains off tonight's meeting at Monmore, so Swindon straight away lose the second leg home advantage that they have worked for all season ! Absolutely ludicrous, and typical of the amateurish way the sport is run in this country, no wonder the papers and television don't take it seriously !

  26. The crowd was very quiet, even at the end it was no more than a few cheers and ripples of applause. I stood there on the first bend and witnessed it live. I said earlier how different clubs fans react. At Poole the roof would have come off the stadium. At Foxhall, just above polite clapping and gentle cheering.

  27. We are very widely spread in a big capacity stadium, the noisiest bunch are the Massif on the back straight, absolutely no microphones anywhere near us though, in the video you can only hear the home straight people.

  30. If those 7 meetings were packed with the top riders in the world, organised professionally and sponsored to the hilt by major national companies making it a product to be proud of, I suspect, for some, the answer would be a resounding yes.

  34. You weren’t in bad form at the end of the season. You finished in style winning at Kings Lynn (no other team had) and topped the table under huge pressure from the most in form team Swindon, Poole were very much in decent form. It’s just 4 riders let you down when it mattered.

  37. it isnt getting beat by this years"cannonfodder"as you put it that would dent the market value its the fact that only 1000 turned up to watch the home leg that dents value.i know he wont take satisfaction from it but skidder did predict selecting ipswich was "financial suicide",forget the trophy had to reach the final to balance the books.Everthing went our way in the play-offs last season, well beaten this y,r thats sport, congratulatilons to the ipswich riders

  40. Poole are a poor side end of, living off past glories you mocked me months ago when i said you were the weakest out of the four team's left.Ipswich regrouped stopped there poor run of results and brought in Iversen/ Sarjeant Poole kept with Wells and brought Johansson in tells you everything. It would be best if Ford moves along but what has he got to sell???? the promotional rights and an old tractor can't see anybody else taking over anytime soon.

  41. I came through monsoon rain at The Forge, when I came to the Royal Infirmary it was dry from there to Ashfield. It was two hours before start time and the track staff were working on the track, I was very surprised to find it was off with a clear sky. O.K. I was at the track and it may have been different if I had arrived an hour later to find it off but I don't think enough time was given to allow work to be done on the track. I've heard that there was no consultation between the referee, riders or staff, if true that is shocking.

  43. I used to think shovvy was the most disliked person on here and that Starry was just a complete idiot, having read all the rubbish, I've changed my mind, starry is still a complete idiot, and probably the most disliked, a total clown, absolute buffoon, a monumental codpiece.

  44. Personally don’t think the shower hit Ashfield, we came through it at Euro central ,the streets in Possil were bone dry and no puddles in road when we arrived at 6.10.and blue sky.Bottom line though match was off.Hey Ho, nothing new these days.

  46. More than BT but less than Sky. I'm told a 5 year deal is on the table plus the possibility of some Polish sponsorship because of the Eurosport audience reach?! Please don't shoot the messenger as we're not at AGM time yet!!

  47. I just hope we can get on with the meeting tonight and it not like the Swedish final and many meetings of late with false starts and the usual plethora of mechanics invading the track to top up the fuel and give the bikes a 10,000 mile service, then a return to the gate with the usual gardening adjusting the clutch and goggles and then one rider will turn around a go half way back round the track before the starting marshall even tries to get them to line up. False starts all four riders should be straight back to the tapes and lined up and ready to start under a one minute warning, those bikes should be mechanically capable of doing that and fuelled accordingly. No mechanics allowed a the track and no return to the pits.
