  1. Watching them trying to deal with the Tigers in the 1st meeting will be more interesting.Imo

  2. Is it not the case that a lot of young British riders do not get a chance because of the senior British riders moaning that they can’t make the sport pay unless the ride in both leagues. Some would ride in all 3 if they were allowed.

  8. Many people will have had this and had it mildly. Those cases might not have been tested, particularly in countries where getting a test is expensive. So the 3.5% is probably a lot higher than reality.

  10. Not long to go to the opening meeting. I was really looking forward to the 50th Anniversary meeting, but am I the only one slightly under-whelmed by the line up so far? Does the promotion really see Emil Grondal and Simon Lambert - great triers as they are - as part of a "mouth watering line-up"?! Now there are only two places to fill. I was hoping to see possibly Nicki P., Jack Holder, Robert Lambert, even Craig Cook. I will still go, but this looks more like a chance for the 2020 Panthers to get in some practice rather than a big special 50th Anniversary meeting I was hoping for. I thought this was going to be special?

  11. I have spoken to Radio Cambridge today and have explained, how the original announcement was hidden within season ticket application info, how originally we were told it came from the showground, how this was denied by showground and Management now gone into siege mode. Radio have gone through this forum and are aware of the many sad cases. They are trying to contact Carl Johnson to get a satisfactory explanation as they have not provided one so far.. I have told them I do not mind being on Radio but will not do so alone as I am aware that many have declined.for their own reasons.

  14. I think there’s Only a few riders that would fit the Ave that’s left and make them a decent side Luke Harris Danno Verge Ryan Terry Daily but cant see any of them travelling as there based the other side of London Luke Priest but i don’t know if he is still riding then after that your looking at 3+ point riders that won’t travel to ride at number 2-4 as they won’t score much and end up lossing too much money

  21. Think North Rhein Westfalia is most affected, which probably isn't a surprise considering the large population there. But Hessen, where you are heading also has 12 confirmed cases. I think here is the whole of North Germany, i.e Hamburg Bremen,Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern there aren't as many. 6 or 7 I think... Update :24 now in the north, 5 in Hamburg

  22. Whilst I'm pleased for Ronnie, I find it very sad that he had to raise money in this way. He risked his life to earn that medal, how many of us would have been brave enough to tackle a gunman who turned out to be a nutter? The gunman had already shown he wasn't afraid to use the gun, and yet Ronnie waded in with nothing but his fists to stop him. He will always have the greatest respect from me for that action.

  23. Please don't "invest" it in speedway Ronnie! The only person to have made money out of it in the last 25 years is his brother. Withour title sponsors it would have long gone bust.

  24. Not true. I do like Phillips but it’s fact that his career has stagnated so I was being positive by hoping that a change of track will help him.

  32. I actually had to write risk assessments for Motocross tracks....that was a pretty silly thing to have to worry about too! It's possible to pick and choose the things you worry about. Until and unless this virus becomes a serious risk to a reasonable number of us I choose to worry about other things.

  39. I had BBC Points West on in the background last night, looked up and thought, "Doesn't he look like Ron?" Then I saw the medal. What hurt was to see him talking about using the money to pay for his funeral, talking about illness and suggesting he hasn't got long to go. Working for Ron, despite the stresses of keeping Rye House going, was one of the highlights of my time in speedway. Maybe I didn't see the full story but he was always a decent, warm guy to work for. I remember him telling me that money I was owed for running the phone line was lost in the collapse of the business. He was genuinely apologetic but all I could think was "Ron, just how much have YOU lost?" I do hope someone can help. It was distressing to watch last night. He's arguably the biggest sponsor that Rye House ever had, with all due respect to the Atkinsons' Infradex business. "Rob, you see this money? It's today's takings. When I take them to the bank tomorrow I've got to add a grand of my own money" Speedway can be a cruel sport.

  40. We had a track that was there without a enviroenmental permission to use it. Riding a speedway bike there would have gotten you in to trouble and no way official meetings or training could have gone a head as it was not a "real" track. We made a noise test of the bike (something the FIM should pay and deliver to every FMN EVERY time they change the silencer limits), then there was a simulation of a bike doing circles and there were 4 or six reference points where the sound level was recorded. A report (https://www.moottoriliitto.fi/site/assets/files/1251/speedwayn_melupaastomittaukset_emo_lahetetty.pdf) was written on the sound levels. Then a sound model was created with computer on the specific site and its surroundings, only that it did not take in to account any trees or bushes, just ground level alterations. Also wind was set at 3 or 5 meters per songs to every direction at the same time. So then this model was created with a computer and it showed how the noise travels in theory. We applied the permit, it was put on show for everyone interested in complaining and the we explained that there was no problem. Cant see any point in taking one bike and revving it next to people ready to complain. That will amount to nothing good for the project. There was no vote with the public, city people did the job and everyone in Finland had the right to complain.

  42. While complacency is unwise a little caution needs to be taken before going overboard. The current death rate from Coronavirus is 2% of victims globally, 3,000 in total but 90% in China. With a world population of 7.8 billion you have a i in 2.6 million risk of dying from it. This could of course change. Just 300 people have died from the virus outside China. The last flu pandemic was SARS which had a five times higher death rate of 10%. I don't recall public events being cancelled then. A death rate of 1 in 2.6 million would produce about 25 deaths in the UK. Even if it hit the same rate as SARS you would be looking at just over 100. That's not a pleassant number. One death is to be mourned. The UK average annual deaths from the common flu viruses is 17,000, based on recent figures. On that basis and current 'logic' all public events in Britain should be permanantly banned and everyone should work from home. Of course the infection/death rate of Coronavirus may well increase but right now I think there's a lot of media-fed hysteria going on. Me, I'd rather go on the advice of medics rather than journalists but then I'm old-fashioned....

  46. What this fan really wants to see is that in a majority of races the positions will stand a very good chance of changing after 1/2 lap. And that riders believe that that is possible and make a real effort to do so, rather than accept after that first 1/2 lap that the result is set in stone. And settle for a high speed verion of line dancing. Bring back racing and the belief that having a serious go is worth it. Not least to entertain the remaining supporters!

  50. This problem affects more than just the disabled fans. Our main driver for the last few seasons has suffered from cancer, & has relied on the disabled parking to be able to attend meetings. He is now unsure if he will be able to walk from the car park, & we will struggle to get to some meetings if he can't, as we don't always have alternative vehicles.
