The next of the ‘lethal’ viruses to hit the UK which everybody is worrying about. Thanks to the scare mongering media. No doubt we will still be having this discussion when the next ‘killer’ virus hits our shores in the next few years. Meanwhile the common flu will still kill more vulnerable people this year.4 points

Blimey! You get to see a doctor? To make an appointment to see a doctor at my local surgery there are so many loops and hoops to negotiate I've given up trying.3 points

I think he often produces good, informed output. It's just the lapses into narky self-importance which spoils it, which is a shame.2 points

I take your point entirely. It's like the difference between an instantaneous match report and a 'considered', once you've had time to think through all aspects. It's worth the fiver online, if only as an insight into his priorities. As a biography it's lacking perspective, despite Peter Oakes' best efforts.2 points

Have they anough top end strength though anough heat winners on paper Nicholls/Ostergaard look ok but everyone thought that when they had Barker/L.Bjerre at reserve.I think those weaker riders at reserve you named will be harder to beat than you think it will be interesting but i will say the diehard Peterborough fans deserve a good team and i wish them luck.2 points

Just read about the Premier League considering a ban on over 70's at matches - https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-sports-bosses-and-broadcasters-summoned-to-discuss-contingency-plans-11951225 Couldn't possibly do the same in Speedway, tracks would be closing down within a month2 points

So far in this century, like a cat with 9 lives I've managed to survive Mad cow disease (not the 80's version, the new one from the middle of last year) Sars (another coronavirus) TB Ebola a Flu pandemic Possibly Brexit - although that might be premature. and probably more that I cant remember. All of which according to the press were likely to result in vast swathes of people dropping dead worldwide. (possible exception for Brexit but I thought it was funny) As a child of the 60's there are another 39 years before that where I was fortunate enough to survive all sorts of certain death such as lead paint, wrapping asbestos string around exhausts and working on asbestos brakes, walking through a workplace without a bright yellow vest on, lifting more than 25kg all on my own and so on. So no matter what the press and internet tell me I'm going to keep riding my luck and carry on just as I am without giving a toss2 points

It’s akin to dads army. It will be knocking on the door of the play offs of that I’m certain and Peterborough will have a much better season than last. There are however, better teams in the division imo.1 point

The football club redeveloped the ground and they squared off the ends. Also the football club had to put boards down on the corner with grass on and lifted when the speedway was on and visiting teams complained to the F.A.1 point

Never went back in the day, but maybe 'tracks or clubs' have moved. The track may have had 4 corners rather than 2 arcs. Some older guys, like Dave might know, but some images I've seen could suggest it had 4 corners, rather than 4 bends, I know that sounds silly. It's the cider1 point

You must be about 12 with those creative reading skills a true fantasist... As for frail little gimp I will put it in WWE terms for you.... remember the Brahma Bull from the late 90's ya man the Rock who kicked Hacksaw Jim Duggan's ass well I'm the Benton Bull... the Rock is a pussy (cat) compared to this frail old gimp.... No one called you out for a fight I just offered you some quality time for a chat so I could impart some common sense manners and etiquette into the Total HACKSAW that you come across to everyone on here... I'm sure I could punch some breeding into you in a very short time... What's up with you did your mummy not show you any love as a child? Regards THJ1 point

I think he can tbh in his first season on these shores he was getting double figure scores in the top tier and while some people say the two are close the Premiership is still a fair better standard of quality than the Championship. I'm really excited about this signing. Strong heat 13 partnership too with Schlein riding together week in week out. A strong middle order with Barker/ Bates Rowe improved a lot last season and Cook looked a decent little rider too. With the right equipment Stoneman should mix it with the other reserves as well. I think we could be in for a good season.1 point

I quite liked the Knights name and race jacket of 1997-98 until it turned into that daft emblem that Brian Griffin came up with. The Silver Machine thing was ok but maybe the Stars is what we should always be going forward.1 point

It was possible in the old World Finals, and nobody complained about the possibility then... We've been through this before on here, anyway... In an individual event, the individual CAN be rewarded for finishing first, but not always. In a team event, why should the TEAM finishing ahead of the opposing TEAM not be rewarded. It happens in other sports (cycling, for example). Anyway, if a system is designed to find the highest accumulation of points, rather than simply how many times you win, then you can't say that it's "can't be right"; it's the same for everyone, and it's FAIR for everyone.1 point

As we're constantly being told to wash our hands with an alcohol based hand sanitiser if we want to help avoid what is, for a person of average health, a bad cold, wouldn't it be useful to line our insides with alcohol as well? Willing to volunteer if any research into this is happening1 point

Bang on. Despite a huge array of star name riders riding for middlo it’s a pretty poor line up. Just shows how mercenary the majority of today’s riders are. The Ben fund meeting is similar yet the Peter craven meeting is a much better line up. the only difference is the pc meeting the riders receive points money.1 point

Togliatti is no problem at all to travel to. I've been to Togliatti for 3 times in the past few months for ice speedway, always a pleasure to be there. Get your visa, fly to Moscow, then to Samara. Plenty of taxi's at the airport. Just arrange a price with one of them, or use the Yandex app.1 point

Lets see how good the bookies are this season as they had us rock bottom last year and we made the play off final. Lets hope they are totally wrong again.1 point

I've just finished Tai's book "Raw Speed"... or as it should have been called "It Is What It Is". And while it was very interesting to read his take on things (I still can't make head nor tail of why he punched Ben Barker, other than they were both drunk) I have to say that I don't think I've ever read a more poorly written "Autobiography" and I've read a few. At least a third of the book must be pure filler as it goes off at tangents giving irrelevant and needless details and giving you history of who people are and and venues etc. Which quite clearly haven't been penned (or even thought of, I suspect) by Tai. And if I had a pound for every time I read the sentence "As I've mentioned before"... Take away all of the filler and I don't think it's anything more than an extended Speedway Star interview. 6/101 point

Morning all, Thank your kind words - its much appreciated. Delighted to be in the position to be able to do this, and as a real fan of Speedway, it means a lot to be able to work with Buster, Dale & the team - who have both been brilliant to deal with to make this all happen In answer to question above, our third office is in Caister-on-Sea, next to Great Yarmouth. Heres to be a big 2020!1 point

17,000 a year, on average, die from flu in England. Yeah. Whatever. Who cares? 1 already frail person dies in Reading after testing positive for covid-19 and you can't get bog roll any more.1 point

I actually had to write risk assessments for Motocross tracks....that was a pretty silly thing to have to worry about too! It's possible to pick and choose the things you worry about. Until and unless this virus becomes a serious risk to a reasonable number of us I choose to worry about other things.1 point

Congratulations to Eastbourne, managed to do it 2 seasons in a row, even replacing Tom Brennen after his dreadful injury with Kyle Newman, and retaining both this year. May come up just short on winning anything again this season, but I can guarantee this team relates to the fans especially the youngsters with 3 British youngsters in the team probably better than any other, and if we do lose at home, it will always be an exciting, tight match.1 point

I really do not understand the logic here. You stopped going because your club ( is that Somerset ?) dropped down a league which you considered less value. All the leagues, from NL upwards can provide exciting racing. You do not have to have World class riders to provide good entertainment. When Lakeside closed, I switched my viewing to Kent in the NL and they have entertained me every week just as much as Lakeside ever did. My suggestion to you is to stop being a Premiership snob and just enjoy what is on offer.1 point

Watched Danyon in nearly all his meetings and has defo cut out the desperate lunges and mad moments to pass witch has cost him injuries in previous years and now uses him head more to pass he has had adam roynon in the pits working with him and he is a totally different rider now he will get even better . I think the likes of him and connor mountain both deserve a place next year1 point
