For someone who knows about the sport you talk some rubbish at times,It’s the bike set-up that makes them the fastest on the night. These machines are not performing anywhere near the maximum speed that they can achieve .Its set up and gearing that gives them performance.5 points

I agree, don't think a 2 point lead is enough, but the fans are celebrating winning a last heat decider. Good on them.4 points

Of course he knows that, it's pretty much the same for most tv live meetings, he just sets out to, in his mind, be controversial and generate conversation, it's really not needed but hey ho. Anyone watching that last night can only marvel at what Bartosz can get out of his machinery, he's brilliant to watch, moreso when he's beaten out of the gate, I was willing Woffy to hold out in that final but inside I knew he was going to get overhauled, it was an enthralling race. If Bart retains the crown it will be fully deserved, best rider in the world right now. .4 points

Zmarzlik generates speed in a similar fashion to Gollob. He's a true great who has track craft. Best rider in the world.4 points

Absolutely bang on. As a fan, I have no strong feeling either way for Zmarzlik. To be honest, I would have preferred Woffinden to have won. But I do like it when our World Champion is a rider who demonstrates real all-round quality by overtaking his closest rivals. Think Penhall v Olsen and Knudsen 1981, Collins v Simmons in 1976 and Rickardsson v Nielsen in 1994. Its the mark of a real champion. Zmarzlik is a bona fide class act well worthy of the mantle of World Champion.3 points

Av got very fond memories of wigton maryport aspatria & silloth when I worked over there in the 90's.. remember 1 hot night in silloth the farm I lived on at the time my landlady ( lovely women ) made me hot corned beef hash hotpot & I went out into silloth got a very cold bottle of broon supped it like pop & yes within minutes there was the hotpot outside on the deck ha which made extra room fir more cold broon... Fantastic days3 points

So he 'cheats' time, and time, and time, and time, again...? For two years? And he hasn't been tested and found out? The unique thing about Speedway is that it takes place on all shapes and sizes of tracks, and it also takes place on tracks with differing levels of grip/slickness etc. All of which will impact a bikes characteristics very acutely... Meaning a 'too fast bike' is no use.. You then have the completely random riding order which may favour certain gates given the track grading schedule.. You then have the weather which can influence many a meeting dependant on your gates when the adverse weather strikes... Yet, within all these variables Zmarzlik is still 100% head and shoulders the best on the planet.. Maybe, (therefore), he is just very, very good....? And also maybe we should just sit back, relax, and enjoy watching a potential 'great' at work.. Him and Woffy are truly a couple of all time greats whose races are (cliche alert), always worth the admission alone.. Just enjoy the unique spectacle..3 points

Oh aye they're fn torture. Have I mentioned the weird "looking to the side" in an empty room? I actually don't mind the commentary. It's so unabashedly biased and one eyed that it's almost a refreshing change from the usual political correctness.2 points

Didnt they say that he had made some ”changes” during the winter? Good ones if you look at his season...2 points

For me Lidsey right up there for one of the most improved riders this year. When they dropped Kurtz did he grab it with both hands, potentially a GP rider in the making2 points

Zmarzlik is head and shoulders above, who cares if he has the fastest bikes, the same could be said for Woffy numerous times he won it. His straight line speed was way faster than anyone else. Rickardsson looked his bike was 1000cc at times. It happens. Zmarzlik without a doubt the best rider in the world right now, absolutely superb.2 points

Do you still think he’s boring after last night? He has to be by far the most exciting rider to watch in the Grand Prixs currently2 points

I'm told when Bobby signed for Hull in early 1996, he obtained 2 new standard JAWAs and simply got on with it, with mostly just himself wielding the spanners. His '96 season ended early due to injury, his bikes were sold and the riders in question (names redacted) were nowhere near as spectacular as was 'Showtime', but ,wow, was he geat to watch.....2 points

And all this discussion about who got what championship points, way after the end of the meeting as per last night, I find slightly amusing. Wouldn't it be easier to just award points according to where you finish in a race? 3 for first, 2 for second and 1 for third might work.2 points
-
IF you don't enjoy watching Zmarzlik then speedway really isn't for you ... long track style down the back starlight to generate the speed to pass Woffy. Spectacular.2 points

Wouldn't be too clever basing your career around where your girlfriend comes from. This time last year wasn't his girlfriend from Germany ?1 point

Harsh, Vaculik didn't change his line and Pawlicki couldn't get round so inevitably would get contact.. He should have gone...1 point

I think this has been done to death before but can I ask (sorry if it's repeat) a question regarding transponders? All bikes at the GPs are fitted with transponders, which measure lap times and race times to a thousandth of a second. Can these same devices be used to measure start time response times? Thus, as in athetics, we could have a scientific measure of starts.1 point

Saturday nights GP was much better than Friday’s with an excellent final, Zmarzlik has made himself firm favourite now and few can argue with that. He is just a very talented speedway rider that’s at the top of his form at present. Three GP wins out of 6 rounds says it all.1 point

It's all about set up, too much power, too much spin, gets you nowhere.1 point

PROBABLY not but that is down to Bartosz and not simply his equipment1 point

Well, she's got a deeper voice than Zmarzlik...1 point

Well i can do points 1 to 8 after the 20 heats and then points 9,10,11,12 after the semi`s and then the final is easy.1 point

Just an afterthought - wasn`t it a pleasure to have Marcelina asking sensible questions this weekend- it would have been doubly pleasurable if we could have seen her as well1 point

Really enjoyed that.. Zmarzlik truly a potential 'great' of the sport.. His bikes are fast but surely that is the point of a motor sport? And there are plenty of 'all the gear but no idea' riders over the years who have 'rocket ships' but haven't done anything like this kid.. And the beauty of Speedway is the fastest bike isn't always the one that can get around the track the quickest given too much power can result in no grip and, therefore, no forward propulsion.. Inside, and outside, freshly graded track or not, this lad stalks you and passes you for fun.. A true joy to watch, and with Woffy they truly showcase how good this sport is.. Lets hope he wins this and the ludicrous scoring system doesn't take his deserved 'back to back' titles away..1 point

No one ever has. Except Madsen of course, caught twice in his career. But it wasn't cheating...1 point

No you are sad, Zmarzlik the best rider over two rounds, get over it. What happened to your lover boy Janowski tonight? I was screaming for a Woffy win, but Zmarzlik different class. Oh forget Zmarzlik never rode for the roller coaster all kippers and curtains Poole!1 point
-
Wow... Zmarzlik and deservedly so... Woffy to be a bit harsh has to cover inside to mid track and shouldn't be passed underneath, make your opponent go round you if they want to win, but fair play... The best rider in the world should be World Champ, and it looks like no Mickey Mouse scoring system will prevent that happening.. Woofy and Zmarzlik a joy to watch when they race...1 point

Tv couldn`t get the scores right again- Emil 10 Magic 9 not the other way around !!!!!1 point

Zmarzlik just has the fastest bikes. I hope the FIM check the cc of them. The speed generated when Woffinden is on the faster line seems ridiculous.1 point

And to be fair his sponsors do get maximum exposure given he goes past each camera so slowly..1 point

I hope that Fricke gets a wildcard next year. Feel that whilst not setting the world alight, he has made progress this season and deserves another go.1 point

I strongly disagree with your note that "this year that it is heavily weighted towards Polish riders" Anybody who is somebody in world speedway rides day in and day out in the Polish League. Tai Woffinden has been Wroclaw riders for years more than I can remember. So is the case with any foreign riders. How therefore you, or anybody else, can claim that this year is heavily weighted toward Polish riders.1 point

Find it a bit weird how many people who frequent these forums and post more than average, still claim to no longer have any interest in speedway, why are they here? there must be an element they care about otherwise why waste your precious free time? unless they have an agenda of "i don't have speedway anymore so i hope it dies, so no one has it" I amongst many others became lost to live speedway when they closed Arena Essex down (its not been bulldozed yet, so i still live in hope) and i have not been to a meeting since, but of course i watch on tv, and i still love the sport, its been part of my life for over 30 years since i was 15, its in the blood now, i am not blind to all the problems that exist and want to make us pull our hair out when the promoters make in our own eyes the wrong decisions but i still enjoy the racing for what it is, four riders, four laps, throwing a bike around that is basically a rocket on two wheels and making it look stupidly easy, in short, everything that appealed to me when i first started going, when i didn't know the riders, or the complicated rules or any of the other red tape that surrounds the sport.1 point
