Being a Newcastle fan, i don't care about the rules. I just want to see some decent racing on a well prepared track. I want a well run meeting that represents good value for money. Is that too much to ask, or are my expectations too high! Don't even care about the results5 points

Only in Speedway can there be calls for youth development and calls against the weakening of the leagues and a plan is put in place to make a right fist of both. One of the best ruling implemented for years was the minimum standard required to be a PL rider. Why is that not being used as a benchmark here? Riders who have achieved a NL average of 6+ for example are eligible for a CL place, then continue with the minimum 4.5 average to become a PL rider. Its been seen time and time again recently where teams build with 6 string riders and the cheapest 7 available gets thrown to the wolves, takes the minimum 3 rides and has their confidence hammered. Im all for British riders getting chances and creating opportunities but only for those who have earnt the right and are proving they can make the grade. Filling teams with riders just because they are cheap, local, compliant is not going to benefit them or the sport in any way.5 points

I thought the number 7 had to be British so how can King's Lynn sign a native American4 points

So what is the point of a 1* rider, if they are actually 2* riders? That makes no sense at all4 points
-
What does it matter? They are all treated 2* riders from what you said - so they are basically 1* riders but treated like 2*.... clear as mud ey? I’ve said this before, the idea and theory behind this scheme is actually a good one. Like with most things done by the BSPL it seems like the execution is a bad and over complicated one to what should be a quite simple solution, effective and basic system.3 points

Exactly this, these are just currently names on sheets, in the hope all restrictions are lifted. And this will be the same for all teams that have riders riding abroad3 points
-
I think you are missing the point, how can riders travel from Poland to the UK then back to Poland with the current restrictions in place ??3 points
-
I've also heard simota mentioned. Whats that. A combined age of 100+ Will need a few young riders Atkins Bowtell3 points

How would everyone feel about a Duckworth Lewis style formula to decide abandoned matches or even totally washed out fixtures. Not great for season ticket holders and lost earnings for riders but it would avoid matches being run on unfit tracks and end of season fixture congestion. Might be useful if league matches can't start in May as hoped. Roughly there'd be a mathematical formula to determine each riders match specific 'average'. The formula would take into account the riders average and recent form. Home for the home riders Away for the away riders. Could even include previous performance on the specific track. Importantly the formula and data would be visible so the match specific averages would be known pre match. Then the result of un-run heats would be determined based on riders match specific average. Worst idea ever?1 point

I think he should. He's never had a proper crack at Championship level and has been away for 10 years. Certainly a better choice than some there that have been around years and not progressed1 point

Speedway is not very complicated but still there are many varied ideas as to how it works to bring in a DLS type system would involve a lot of brain power. The British speedway nativity struggled to find 3 wise men this last Panto season1 point

Got to be worth a punt, class rider on his day, could do a job for us exciting to watch too.1 point

Just imagine if those in charge brought in such a system... ? The mind boggles as to the amount of various rules, regulations, logistical data and permutations that they would come up with... And at the end of it all... Both teams would lose...1 point

Both have not ridden in a British league for a number of seasons. Crump's 8.21 ave was given for not competing since 2009, (10 years away) so a further reduction was given as he has now missed 11 years. Pedersen on the other hand has just not ridden in the UK, so his 2021 starting ave could actually be reassessed to a higher or lower figure.1 point

In the CL yes. Because 4* doesn't apply to the CL. No in the PL. Where they'll all be 4* regardless of previous PL average. I see Anders Rowe seems to be the first to have jumped ship. Looks to be in the Ipswich 1-6.1 point

Schilen, King and Worrall, got to be the strongest top 3 in the league, got to be as strong as some of the top 3 in the premiership1 point

Although past his prime, one thing you know with Bjarne he has always been reliable when he rode in the uk, with a professional set up and normally top class machinery, never been a mixer like the main Pedersen, but if he's lost little of his speed was hard to pass, even the couple of seasons he was at Eastbourne. I'll say it before anyone else does, I know it's hard to pass anyway at Arlington, but he was the same only better in his Poole days.1 point

I think you need to get used to that, not going to be an awful lot between the leagues in terms of team strengths this year. Gonna be an awful lot of doubling up too.1 point

We’ve received a reply which is fair enough (Cook still in plans) but as Andrew points out deleting posts which aren’t abusive etc is a dangerous path to go down.1 point

If that’s true then we’re screwed. That’s the top 3 all gone and no quality replacements available.1 point

Crump would definitley put bums on seats (thats if we are aloowed this season) so all championship tracks would get a mini boost from this1 point

For all we know rising stars are limited to wages, so Anders has made himself part of the 1-6? Good signings regardless1 point

I would like them to join the league provided they can sign a competitive team..... a below par team would be a big mistake good luck in getting a suitable team1 point

By the way can you clarify who you are talking about here because I think you have the wrong rider... I definitely don't think you know who I am on about and as such have rumbled off on a tantrum here when we are taking about different people... Regards THJ1 point

The sooner Barry Bishop is put in charge of the 3rd Tier under whatever Title the better. May be the only hope. Certainly far more qualified in every regard that a stooge taking the 3rd tier on a branch line to nowhere and oblivion.1 point

It’s only my opinion ,it is not a criticism. If it comes to fruition then well done.I have been around long enough to witness similar attempts at long term planning and not seen any come to fruition.1 point

Because speedway was of course of attracting thousands of young people, or indeed thousands of people of any age before apps came along. The argument that technology is ruining things reminds me when football refused to show matches on television - far less live - on the grounds that no-one would turn up to the grounds. The irony was that attendances actually increased once the sport entered the 20th century...1 point
