  1. Being a Newcastle fan, i don't care about the rules. I just want to see some decent racing on a well prepared track. I want a well run meeting that represents good value for money. Is that too much to ask, or are my expectations too high! Don't even care about the results

  2. Only in Speedway can there be calls for youth development and calls against the weakening of the leagues and a plan is put in place to make a right fist of both. One of the best ruling implemented for years was the minimum standard required to be a PL rider. Why is that not being used as a benchmark here? Riders who have achieved a NL average of 6+ for example are eligible for a CL place, then continue with the minimum 4.5 average to become a PL rider. Its been seen time and time again recently where teams build with 6 string riders and the cheapest 7 available gets thrown to the wolves, takes the minimum 3 rides and has their confidence hammered. Im all for British riders getting chances and creating opportunities but only for those who have earnt the right and are proving they can make the grade. Filling teams with riders just because they are cheap, local, compliant is not going to benefit them or the sport in any way.

  3. I thought the number 7 had to be British so how can King's Lynn sign a native American

  4. So what is the point of a 1* rider, if they are actually 2* riders? That makes no sense at all
    4 points
  5. What does it matter? They are all treated 2* riders from what you said - so they are basically 1* riders but treated like 2*.... clear as mud ey? I’ve said this before, the idea and theory behind this scheme is actually a good one. Like with most things done by the BSPL it seems like the execution is a bad and over complicated one to what should be a quite simple solution, effective and basic system.

  6. Just got to hope for a dry summer!

  7. Exactly this, these are just currently names on sheets, in the hope all restrictions are lifted. And this will be the same for all teams that have riders riding abroad

  8. I think you are missing the point, how can riders travel from Poland to the UK then back to Poland with the current restrictions in place ??
    3 points
  9. I've also heard simota mentioned. Whats that. A combined age of 100+ Will need a few young riders Atkins Bowtell
    3 points
  10. His average has been reduced by 2.5% - has he qualified for a British Reduction maybe?
    2 points
  11. With the current travel restrictons he will not or ANY polish based riders can fly in to the UK & back to Poland. Anders & his dad leave the for Poland early March. So i WONT be changing my opinion!!!

  12. Maybe it's so Jason can ride in the Championship on a 12.00 average..?

  15. Wonder out of those announced, how many will start.

  16. How would everyone feel about a Duckworth Lewis style formula to decide abandoned matches or even totally washed out fixtures. Not great for season ticket holders and lost earnings for riders but it would avoid matches being run on unfit tracks and end of season fixture congestion. Might be useful if league matches can't start in May as hoped. Roughly there'd be a mathematical formula to determine each riders match specific 'average'. The formula would take into account the riders average and recent form. Home for the home riders Away for the away riders. Could even include previous performance on the specific track. Importantly the formula and data would be visible so the match specific averages would be known pre match. Then the result of un-run heats would be determined based on riders match specific average. Worst idea ever?

  17. So rising stars come through training track & after meeting rides etc so if any 1 can help out with any sort of equipment for 2022 be it from a spare tyrer or to a small type of training bike or a full size 1 that probably will be just sitting in the garage or van gathering dust.. it would be greatly appreciated at any of the local tracks ie Newcastle when hopefully the new freshly operating promotion get a home of there own & could give local youngsters proper facilities to try this exciting sport....

  19. There has been no Zoom Meeting nor AGM for the NDL. If there has been then Sings4speedway would be right in that IOW (and I assume Mildenhall/Plymouth too) have been excluded from any such Zoom Meeting or unofficial AGM/Pre AGM. And if there was a pre AGM without IOW knowing I would be particularly miffed as it was ME who got them introduced to the NDL midway through the season with a view to discuss what worked, what we need to improve and how to collectively move forward. As always keep well and safe in these tricky, troubling times.

  24. Are they having playoffs or using league positions for champions? Playoffs in a 6 team league just sounds wrong.

  26. Individual meetings do not count towards averages so 2ndbendbeernut is not wrong - you are just not understanding what he is saying.

  27. Could do worse. Still remember the 18 point max he scored against us at Owlerton.

  28. Both have not ridden in a British league for a number of seasons. Crump's 8.21 ave was given for not competing since 2009, (10 years away) so a further reduction was given as he has now missed 11 years. Pedersen on the other hand has just not ridden in the UK, so his 2021 starting ave could actually be reassessed to a higher or lower figure.

  33. According to this week's Speedway Star, Bjarne was also approached to join Kings Lynn, but chose Peterborough as he prefers the track there.

  34. In the CL yes. Because 4* doesn't apply to the CL. No in the PL. Where they'll all be 4* regardless of previous PL average. I see Anders Rowe seems to be the first to have jumped ship. Looks to be in the Ipswich 1-6.

  35. That's what I'm trying to say
    1 point
  36. Although past his prime, one thing you know with Bjarne he has always been reliable when he rode in the uk, with a professional set up and normally top class machinery, never been a mixer like the main Pedersen, but if he's lost little of his speed was hard to pass, even the couple of seasons he was at Eastbourne. I'll say it before anyone else does, I know it's hard to pass anyway at Arlington, but he was the same only better in his Poole days.

Wonder if the rider in question in now based down south !! & I thought the forum was about opinions not a place for "Daggers in the back " or as in some cases it's (ME ME ME & even if I'm wrong I'm always wright ) looking forward to the day when we meet up with them to have a adult debate & get things off the owld string vest...

  45. Short season?,a six team league?,uncertainty of available riders?,uncertainty of when the season will actually start?,how many people will actually be allowed to attend?,social distancing still in place?mask wearing at meetings?.team strengthes drastically reduced? The list is endless.

  46. You must be one of hundreds of people who contribute to this forum that still has a massive interest in speedway, but don’t attend. There will be thousands outside of the forum that are in the same boat. I just wonder if the BSPA/BSPL has ever even considered doing any form of market research targeted at these people wondering what it would take to entice these people back to the sport? It would be much easier to get these people back than to try and entice new fans with no interest or background in the sport. I don’t know the answer to my question but I would be willing to stick my neck on the line and say NO they haven’t, because they probably don’t want to know the answers... I’ve said many times in the past Speedway is marketed wrong on so many levels. It should be advertised as an extreme sport not a nice night out for the family sport. Very good point - The possibilities are endless. I myself as first port of call always used the ‘Premier League’ app for my football news, fixtures, results and most importantly fantasy league on a daily basis. There is no reason why that same model couldn’t be adopted for British Speedway. The comments about “spending all night at the speedway looking at my phone” are pretty short sighted.

  47. The sooner Barry Bishop is put in charge of the 3rd Tier under whatever Title the better. May be the only hope. Certainly far more qualified in every regard that a stooge taking the 3rd tier on a branch line to nowhere and oblivion.

  48. I am not sure where the information you have came from but to the best of my knowledge there has not been a NDL AGM - well at least not one that I have attended anyways. Keep safe one and all please.

  49. Honestly You haven't got a clue... but I will give you the full rundown when I see you in private rather than on here... but just keep making it up... and your not involved and haven't been since your mate George sacked you from running the kids/junior teams or doing the winter track work... so stop second guessing and trying your fishing exercise because there is a much bigger picture to consider... Regards THJ
