  1. For a team clearly put together with a sole intention to just win at home this is now the 3rd defeat in 6 home meetings I believe? Surely even 2 or 3 of the happy clappers are going to be unimpressed after this .

  2. Surely it’s what they’re doing at home that’s important. After all that’s where the vast majority of fans watch them.

  3. My first ever visit to Scunthorpe speedway last night. Some good races although score was very one sided. Meeting all done in an hour and quarter. Other clubs could learn a lot from Scunthorpe. Enjoyable night out.

  4. A result like this has been coming. You can't rely on a number 7 to get you out of trouble every week.

  5. Here goes. Only one thing you can say about tonight. Outclassed on every level from start to finish. Outgated all night. That’s prob one of the best away performances you’ll see in a long time . Nice to see all the monarchs fans sticking around for the second half. If some of the main team had hung around they could have seen some other lines on the track by watching Greg Blair.that lad is pure entertainment. I’m sure there will be an inquest but that’s down to the manager .

  6. Etheridge been going fairly well for BV and utter dross for Berwick. Summers should be gone tonight. Totally agree with your last paragraph. Nobody expects the club to be bankrupted attempting to win the league but whats actually the point in putting a team like this out year after year.

  7. Wow!!!! Simply wow!!! I was sitting earlier thinking this is my 20th solid year following Berwick.. I had a few years in and out in mid 90s… but Jesus Christ that was the most disappointing performance I think I have EVER seen! Nowt can be said about Leon… he had a rough come off last night and looked to be suffering a wee bit tonight but that laddy has carried our arses this year… he’s rode with pride wearing his colours and if everyone had the same attitude as him we would be laughing… But jeez… 2 heat wins all night … nah! Pure and utter piss take that!! We were 2nd beat in every department tonight! Something has to change!! Try and salvage some pride from this… just try!

  8. Absolute shocker of a night, I don’t mind getting beat but to get beat with no fight at all is shocking!!, that defeat has been coming because Leon and Danny have carried that team since the season started!, out of the 7 there is only 3 riders who can be saved from that performance tonight, Danny and Leon because they have carried us and of course Kasper with it only being his first home meeting. Other 4 had no fight in them and looked like they weren’t bothered win -lose or draw!!, Kyle Bickley looks as if he has no interest in on being on that bike what so ever. I’m no track expert but to me it looks like there’s not enough dirt on it to provide racing and there’s no moisture at all in it, new track and new lines I don’t think so, riders are riding the track the exact same as the old one, Greg Blair was the only rider that rode near the boards and the only rider tonight that gave us any entertainment!!. Something has to happen after that!

  10. Well done to Monarchs outclassed by a side wanting to win.Quote of the night from that clown Barrie.” Most dominant display by an away team he has witnessed, because Berwick are not a bad Team” Really!!!!! As*e licking of the highest order award. PS That won’t be last home defeat this season IMO,but as long as the crowds hold up and they buy plenty of cheap booze we should be OK.

  11. Poor Leon was battered and bruised from last nights fall at Armadale which explains his performance tonight. As for the rest of them, no excuse, Dany excepted. Weathers drops a couple of points from 6 rides with Newcastle last week, scores 3 tonight. Go figure. Etheridge is becoming a major problem. Wasn’t scoring at 3 and well out of his depth at 1. Virtually guaranteed an away 1-5 in heats 13 & 15 If you’re thinking of putting a side like this out next season then don’t bother. Just close the club down or drop down a league.

  12. Is it my job to come up with replacements?I go home and away and have done for 20 odd year, and this is the worst team we’ve had, we just scored 32 points at home in our 3rd home defeat of the season, and none of the 3 teams will be winning the league this season… 32 points for crying out loud. If you want me to start making up a list I will, but that’s not my job, but I’m not going back until we start signing some riders who put a bit of effort and commitment in, because that was garbage

  13. Enjoyed the meeting, and must say it was enhanced thoroughly by David Rowe's brilliant commentary and constant breakdown of the figures, points and how they affected the outcome. I don't know who put on the production, but I was amazed that it gave no indication of the championship standings on the graphics, and I can see from comments on here that people who, presumably, didn't have that commentary, weren't sure what was happening because of it.

  14. Willie Lawson winning races, f**king desperate! Doolan will be raging watching these updates. How long can Summers get away with this before his taxi is phoned. Shows what happens when Leon has an off night.

  15. I think you are right that they aren't good enough but a good team manager can drag a few extra points out of his team and that can make a difference.....Lynn arent going to finish anywhere other than bottom but some home wins would do everybody the world of good.

  18. Off the top of my head, it would be worth asking Bellego, as he’s missed half his season due to injury, Huckenbeck, Kvech as he’s not had much action, same with Milik, Vissing, as the covid situation has improved, could ask Grajczonek as well, Wilson Dean is in the country recovering from an injury, should be back soon, not gunna suggest Bates, Auty and Proctor but they’re available, there’s a mountain of young Danish talent available to come in on assessed, look at Sam Jensen as an example of that, hes nowhere near some of his fellow countrymen at the same age. Then you could look at a Latvian youngster, Gusts, Matjuszonok, Ansviesulis all very good and only ride in Poland, a lot of German riders about such as Wolbert, M Riss, Hartel, Busch, Fienhage, then Oleg Michailov, a return for Thomas H Jonasson or Eklof, or Ludvig Lindgren, or a lot of Swedes, Timo Lahti, Covatti, Ivacic, Max Ruml. Is that enough suggestions? Surely? Be able to find a couple riders in there, can always replace Bickley with Phillips or another 2 pointer to save a couple points…

  19. I will reserve judgement until someone can post unbiased(not ianb) reports as the updates site can be slightly biased as well.

  23. Had no idea of even who had won it until Michelsen started punching the air after Madsen had picked him off in the final. There was no running graphics from the tv channel, just meeting score updates.

  24. Not to worry - mystery solved. The Monarchs Website Match Scores Scorechart quotes John Campbell as being Bandits Team Manager for the night. There really had to be an alternative explanation for that result.

  25. Just watched the video I can’t see what he did wrong..I just think he puts the fear of god through riders so they slip off nicely and gets him excluded because of his reputation

  27. But for the injury to Ron How it is not inconceivable that Oxford might have pushed West Ham for the title in 1965. In the final league table West Ham were 7 points ahead on 47 from 34 matches. When How's career was ended by injury at the beginning of July Oxord had 25 points to West Ham's 18, both from 18 matches. Following the loss of How, Oxford brought in Stan Stevens and also replaced Glyn Chandler with Jimmy Heard. Heard averaged 3.56 compared to Chandler's 3.72, whereas Stevens averaged 3.29 compared to How's league average of 10.16. It is possible that with How Oxford could have turned defeat into victories at home to Wimbledon and away to Wolverhampton and Poole. An extra point at Newcastle, where the match was drawn, was also a possibility. The extra 7 league points would have put Oxford level with West Ham. The crucial match would have been the first away league meeting without How, at West Ham, where the Hammers won by 8 points. Stevens scored 4 points and as How's scoring had been at least as good as that of Gooch and Pander, who scored 11 and 9 respectively from 4 rides each, it is highly likely that with him in the team a draw at least might have been secured. This could have left Oxford with 48 and West Ham with 46 points at the end of the season. Lots of ifs admittedly.

  28. You want to replace a rider, fair enough that's your opinion, bit until you can come up with a replacement it's pointless.

  31. Actually now that I look it up. Rospigg is a modern spelling of " rosbyggiar" which is someone (byggare? (settler)) living in Rosen (old name for Roslagen). However I have a weak memory of seeing a wasp related to Rospiggarna.

  33. In my opinion, there shouldn’t be GP riders in the SEC anyway. The SEC should be used as like a division 2 to the GPs where you should get promotion and demotion.

  35. Ted Ede was a West Ham junior who filled in for Oxford in the meeting at Custom House, replacing John Bishop. He was a regular in the West Ham team in 1965 and 1966. George Summers was a former Plymouth and Exeter rider who had started the 1964 season with Swindon. He rode in a meeting for Oxford at Belle Vue when Jack Geran was missing from the team.

  41. My reply just covered what happens if the winner of the SEC finishes in the top 6 or in the top 3 of the challenge- here are the rules in full. The total SGP points scored by each Rider having taken part in the FIM SGP World Championship Series during the season shall be shown on the Final Overall SGP Classification of that year. The current year’s Final Overall SGP Classification after removing any Rider having finished in the top 6, but having withdrawn from the SGP for the following year before the following year’s line-up has been published shall determine the Rider’s qualifications for next year’s SGP Championship as follows: • The top 6 Riders of the Final Overall 2021 SGP Classification (including any qualified Nominated Substitute Rider) will be directly qualified for the following year’s SGP Series. • The top 3 Riders from the 2021 FIM SGP World Championship Qualification Meetings (Art. 71a) will be directly qualified for the FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship following year’s SGP Series. Should a Rider who has qualified from these Qualification Meetings also be in the top 6 of the Final Overall SGP Classification of that year, and then the next available Rider from the FIM SGP World Championship Qualification Meetings will be selected. • The winner of the 2021 FIME Speedway European Championship will be directly qualified for the following years SGP Series. • Should a Rider who has qualified from the FIME Speedway European Championship also be in the top 6 of the Final Overall SGP Classification of that year, or the top 3 Riders from the FIM SGP World Championship Qualification Meetings (Art. 71a) then an extra additional rider will be nominated by the SGP Commission. • 5 Additional Riders will be nominated by the SGP Commission. • 1 Wild Card Rider per event decided in accordance with Art. 3.5. • Should a Rider withdraw after the publication of the Official RiderLineup for the following year’s SGP season, then the first Rider available on the official SGP Nominated Substitute List shall replace him. • 6 Riders will be nominated by the SGP Commission for the official SGP Nominated Substitute List.

  42. If I was in the North East I would but I can't get owt like that in Maryport unfortunately... I begrudge paying my TV liecence over there because I can only get BBC Scotland on the telly... and I don't have an internet connection either so am stuffed really... Just seen the above post from Marshall7 and I like Micheal Max great guy very knowledgeable and done a great job at Worky when he was there... So updates will be ok and to be honest I think it might be a bit one-sided to be fair... and I don't want to see grown men cry when the Diamonds win... Bazzinger... Regards THU

  43. I'm no fan of Pedersen but this does look like the Referee did have it in for him. Referees don't half have life easy these days. 'Visiting' the Referee was a common occurrence years ago. It used to entertain the crowd too. I can remember a number of Riders popping into the Referee's box to dispute a decision. It was fun, all the booing and cheering, depending on which team you supported was all part of the Sport and the entertainment. Ah well, "The past is another country, they do things differently there". (Quote: L. P. Hartley). Sadly...........................................................

  44. Not going to either. Ipswich at Lynn for the 2nd time tonight so that fixture gone. Some riders contacted about potential interest but thats as far as it goes. Could have used the excuse of not enough pit space for social distancing etc but instead chose to ignore it. Was only brought in to appease those upset at the damage done to the MSDL due to banning ghost teams. was never going to happen and won't be mentioned again
