It all boils down to the kit I think at the end of the day, the sooner it's slowed down and standardised the better imo.3 points

Just one of those night where things went wrong, no ones fault. Rider safety always takes precedence, which would also include the ref not being able to see because of the sun. The electrical fault was quickly solved and if it had happened on any other night would have caused only a short delay. I took a newbie and she fully enjoyed it, and she understood that it is a rare event for all those things to happen. I assume both teams agreed to run ht 10 to get a result. Redcar has an agreement with the Council to go over the curfew on the odd occasion. The racing we saw was good, and the track good. I hope the injured lads aren't too badly hurt.3 points

Bit of a hollow victory after seeing the crash Ulrich has had , best wishes to Ulrich he will be difficult to replace , hope his injury is not as bad as it appears and he is back with us soon.3 points

The worst rider to come over from Australia , according to the Monarchs , guests for the Tigers against the Monarchs tomorrow . So step forward Jye Etheridge , just a wee reminder to stick it up them , let's finish the job Tigers , this is our year2 points

Blobby usually starts the derby weekend pretty vocal. As the weekend unfolds it’s like a death in the family and goes into mourning , really miss his over confidence.2 points

Doh. Of course, you are right. Troy got his British passport last year and now has dual Nationality. I completely forgot about that. I guess it's definitely not Troy then2 points

We are very lucky at Redcar to have an excellent promotion and that’s why it’s a shame Jitendra is standing down at the end of the season.2 points

I think Jimmy Squibb also rode for Ipswich in the 60's. I didn't miss any of the New Cross home meetings in 1963 and although some visiting riders did get the better of him, Jimmy was generally in a class of his own around the "frying pan".2 points

There are many who feel the same I think, I bought a season pass two years ago for the first time ever, and re-newed at the start of last season. I then took the option of not taking a refund and let the season ticket roll over to this season. I am very un-decided at the minute about next year.2 points

I bought the season pass as early as xmas 2019, expecting there to be a full season in 2020. I thought, as I go to all the home meetings I'd save a few quid and help the club out at the same time. Very disappointed in what I've seen so far. A couple of the team aren't living up to what is expected. The only shining light has been Leon Flint and of course the NL side, Greg Blair in particular. Too much gate and go to make it entertaining. I shall think long and hard before purchasing a season pass for 2022 based on what I've seen this year. I'll just pick and choose meetings I attend.2 points

The referee was Jim McGregor. Phil Griffin called off around lunchtime due to awaiting family covid test result.2 points

Not that Pijper will be a miss at a track like Eastbourne but it's very coincidental he's 'Injured' the same night his lad is in the World 250cc final in Germany I'm sure he wasn't too injured to travel to that2 points

Speedway / Grasstrack engines are designed to run on Methanol as, together with the heavy flywheels used,. it gives the best type of power delivery required for the sport, that is the explosive acceleration from a standing start with a single gear. They can run on petrol with a lot of modifications internally and to the timing and carburation, and quite a few Pre 65 Scramblers / MotoX riders use 2 valve Jawa engines. Engines designed to run on petrol can also be modified to run on Methanol, but many of the 1000cc Sidecar Grasstrack bikes using multi-cylinder Japanese road bike engines, although tuned, still use petrol.1 point

If Ben Cook’s injuries had of been life threatening the ambulance that was already at the track would of taken him straight to hospital1 point

I think Dan Thompson would do a job for you at reserve. Once he got fully dialled into the track. He’s a great prospect just a thought.1 point

The Theatre Royal in Norwich has the 85 year old Engelbert Humperdink doing a one and a half hour show for £62.50 . and part of the act will be mimed or perhaps even all . That's what you call extortionate. Some of the seats are even dearer in other theatres to see him. Then there will be another £10 for a programme1 point

Surely you'll hire a plane or helicopter to get Jorgensen up from Eastbourne?1 point

He also appeared for two other current tracks, King's Lynn and Poole. His name was in the programme for Ellesmere Port at Barrow in 1973, but he didn't ride and the Gunners used rider replacement for him.1 point

Good on you Norbold-what is the oldest programme (your first meeting) and what season do you have the most programmes from? Nothing the matter with anoraks either.1 point

I was thinking the same also as it would give Cook a rare outing in ht8 & should guarantee a home 5 - 1. Will your team manager be as astute as you?1 point

In order to maintain cordial relationships between the UK and Finland, here is the 2021 rule and you can make want you want out of it. Wild Card Rider: A Rider nominated by his FMN and approved by the SGP Commission to participate in an individual round of the SGP series. 3.5 Wild Card Rider In each SGP Meeting, 1 Wild Card Rider will be nominated to take part. In the event of a double SGP on consecutive days at the same venue, one Wild Card Rider will be used for both SGP rounds. All FMNs may propose riders. Proposals must be made in writing to the FIM not later than 1 month prior to the meeting. The SGP Commission will make the final approval and nominations.1 point

I raise you Richard Lawson. At the moment he GSA is 6.11. He is on fire this season for the Stars. His 2021 Prem average is 8.48. Being a Buster rider, i'm sure he will get a ride or two for the Panthers.1 point

And for keeping us entertained priming gates 2&4 at the interval when there was little else memorable on track. After Eastbourne seems we will be posting a sentry at the start line in away meetings.1 point

Former Speedway rider and multi Hot Rod World Champion, Barry Lee, once described Wisbech as the "ar5e end of the universe" and that was before the stadium was knocked down and a supermarket built on the site.1 point

Massive credit to the track staff last night. Kept the dust to an absolute minimum. Still a bogging shape of track that encourages people to lock up at corners right enough (heat 1 being a prime example). Best wishes to Ulrich. Point dropped for the Tigers1 point

Gutter talk on way but its been a while since i took a " newbie" think she enjoyed it1 point

Jim Mcgregor left the box to go to the pits whilst Ulrich was in the ambulance and shortly after the meeting was cancelled due to lack off medical cover.1 point

11.57 in 1986. an amazing 22 full maximums he averaged over the 11 point mark for four years a true GREAT.1 point

I watched nearly all of his home meetings that year but only got to see him at Swindon and Reading and individual events .He certainly made me change my opinion of him he was awesome from memory 1984 onwards only a few names beat him Tommy, Erik, Shawn, Sam, Carl Blackbird, Paul Thorp, Jeremy Doncaster.1 point

It was noticed just seemed less important think Mcgregor decided enough was enough and moved the tractor on , it was only two gates being graded and guess what two gate positions Edinburgh were out on next. Happens everywhere at some point and when you think about it you try everything to regain home advantage.1 point

Just sat here and realised Tai Woffinden only in Poland and is free to do the British league if only lol mind you he could do with more track time his gating is shocking1 point

I still feel bad for Trevor Redmond losing the 1961 Provincial Riders' Championship (60 years ago) as he was easily the best rider on view that night, but shed his chain on the last corner of the last bend of his last race while well in front. So I wouldn't feel so bad about something that happened as recently as a mere 49 years ago, TWK!1 point

How is it nonsense? They want people at the track. If it's a fair way to travel then the stream is a good option. The nearer you are the more likely you are to go to the track. It's common sense on Edinburgh's part IMO.1 point

According to the SS Kent are close to signing a "big hitter".....heat leader status and a lot of experience of British tracks??? Sounds like Scotty might have some support soon. Anyone have any idea who it is?1 point

Wow... what a fantastic night... 30 races.... completed... loved it.. absolutely loved it.... here is the meeting report by Rob Dyer. Wightlink Warriors Summer Speedway Spectacular Sees Appleton In Tasty Form The first of Wightlink Warriors Summer Spectacular meetings proved to be master class of track skill from former British Grasstrack Masters Champion Andrew Appleton (pictured) as he scorched to five impressive wins in front of an appreciative crowd at the Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde last night. The return of track sport to the Island was headlined by the first of three rounds of the Island Masters series - a grasstrack meeting on shale – and the twelve riders didn’t disappoint a very healthy crowd as they battled hard to reach the winner takes all Grand Final. On a night of nearly 30 races the Masters meeting also included a gripping six heat development meeting between the Wightlink Wizards and Weymouth Wildcats and a further six heats of races looking to the future and giving the youngster track time in front of an audience. Whilst former Reading and Oxford speedway star Appleton produced lightning starts to earn his wins he did have stern competition from Danish rider Jacob Buckhave and the two served up a terrific race in the Grand Final – indeed the three finals (C, B & A) certainly didn’t disappoint as all the riders gave their all right to the end. Also impressing were Tony Atkin and Rob Fortune whilst Wightlink Warrior Chad Wirtzfeld found plenty of speed to clinch the B Final on the night. As to the Wightlink Wizards, their battle to tame the Wildcats went to the final bend of the final heat and for all the world it looked as if the home team were about to secure the 5-1 result that would have seen them take a win, however with Jamie Sealey well clear at the front, Wroxall based Morgan Williams appeared to tire on the final two corners and slide to the ground allowing two relieved Wildcats riders through for a drawn heat that clinched the meeting 17-19 in favour of the visitors. Mention also for the PeeWee and 125 cc riders who opened the evening and especially to Kye Elliott from St. Helens (IOW) who scored an impressive 7 points to take the ’Les and Lesley (Midland Fans)’ Junior Rider Of The Night award. Warriors’ co-owner Barry Bishop wore a big smile after the meeting as he said, “Wow. What a night 30 races, bags of action both on and off track, super crowd, magic finals. The night had almost everything Martin and I could have wanted and we were so close to complete perfection until Morgan’s slip in the Wizards meeting. I’ve got to say we have worked so hard for this night. We’ve had many battles and we have achieved what we set out do. That is provided affordable family entertainment in a safe and pleasant environment. Right now I’m just a bit speechless and completely shattered but tomorrow we’ll be back at it and I can’t for next Thursday when we can do it all again with the Wightlink Warriors”. Island Masters – Round 1 Result: C Final – Eric Pike, Dean Cutler, David Hollingsbee, Barry Coates B Final – Chad Wirtzfeld, Charley Powell, Mitch Godden, Nigel Coates A Final – Andrew Appleton, Jacob Buckhave, Tony Atkin, Rob Fortune Wightlink Wizards 17 (Jamie Sealey 8, Jamie Evans 6+1, Morgan Williams 3, Eli Meadows 0) Weymouth Wildcats 19 (Bailey Fellows 7+1, James Laker 5, Max Pankhurst 4+1, Sam Peters 3)1 point
