  2. Agree, there is a general entertainment point of view. It’s the structure of the sport, which IMO is struggling to attract new fans. It’s just not credible, and it’s mainly diehards which are keeping it afloat.

  3. Great to see Doyle remain loyal to Britsh Speedway. He's more of a Brit than Bewley, Lambert and Woffinden.

  4. I had a great day at the WSRA annual Norwich lunch today. Met up with some old friends, including Ove Fundin, Bert Harkins, Trevor Hedge, Tony Hurren (Hawkeye) and Terry Ripo (former Hackney and Mildenhall announcer). Other illustrious names at the lunch included Cyril Crane, Richard Greer, James Easter, Billy Bales, Ray Bales, Rob Hollingworth, Dingle Brown, Gavin Hedge, Dave Gagen, Graham Miles, Ollie Allen, Dave Allen and the great, the one and only, Buzz Burrows. Good food, good company and, best of all, I won first prize in the raffle!

  9. I actually think from a general 'entertainment' point of view with the level of riders being so similar it is actually worth watching.. I watched lots of domestic Speedway on TV and three 'live' and there was plenty to keep you interested.. Unfortunately it is clear that these riders cannot make one league pay therefore it all becomes a bit contrived and nonsensical, which obviously then takes more than a fair bit away from the event itself.. If only they could get the racing level within a proper team sport structure.. Unfortunately, until they do the sport will continue to underperform against its undoubted potential..

  10. Ulrich could have got there by the end of the season

  11. Sorry I Will rephrase that, the standard is higher but it’s the same riders beating each other. There are certainly no superstar 10 pt average riders even though it is a weakened League.

  12. Lions 2019 Championship Shield Winners Championship League Winners Pirates 2021 Championship KO Cup Winners Championship League Winners I regularly attend both tracks, as well others, with Leicester being my nearest and I support Poole. The amount of success that both club's av achieved with both doing the double, either side of lockdown, is a remarkable achievement. In fact Lions cud've done the treble if it wasn't for avin to track an under strength side at Eastbourne in the KO Cup. I'd like to wish all at both clubs continued success, but don't mention the Scottish club! .....was a fine ride by Ellis Perks!

  13. At least if you did sign Basso, he won't be visiting Poole as he'll be riding in Denmark.

  20. It’s really not complicated. Scott Courtney runs Berwick Jamie Courtney will run Oxford harris has signed for Berwick and has agreed to ride for Oxford when they were planning to run in the premiership Oxford will be championship so Harris will no longer be in the team as he already signed for Berwick

  22. I think most people would agree that British Speedway isn’t in great shape and needs something of a kick start. A couple of suggestions for starters from me: I feel much of reason for the situation is there not being any sort of strategic vision for the sport because we sit and wait for the promoters to make up rules/league structure etc each winter. British Speedway needs a two/five/ten year plan that would allow potential sponsors, supporters and riders to see the direction of travel. Targets for measures such as percentage of riders home grown, British representation at GP level, sponsorship ambition etc. Secondly I believe there should be significant supporter representation at board level. This would help hold promoters to account and also ensure our voices are being heard officially. There’s a million things we could change but what would your suggestion be?

  23. May care a little bit more but he'll still miss a few meetings and he'll probably use his poorest equipment in the Championship due to the league ranking dead last in a list of priorities imo. So many Friday Night / Weekend tracks in the Championship now imo to be signing riders who've got contracts in Poland due to the lower leagues scattering meeting about from Friday to Sunday every week now isn't a good move. Riders who are going to turn up every week and put in 100% should be prioritised imo.

  25. Unless last year's 2 year deal with Kerr means it's a done deal, but does seem odd with usual merry go round of riders it hasn't been properly announced

  28. I dont think Ulrich would go to Lynn unless it was his and Lynn's only option for PL , think his 1st choice would be obviously Peterborough then maybe Sheffield but cant see him getting a place there , expect Lynn to have there own targets already , perhaps Doyle now hes supposed to of said he wants to ride in the UK in 2022 , Doyle's best chance of a place lies either with KL or Ipswich

  29. I wouldn’t want Ulrich anywhere near the Stars team on a 7. If that happens to help the Panthers to build another strong team. If it did happen it wouldn’t be to help Lynn build a decent team.

  30. Would certainly agree with that statement

  31. Was going to be Doyle and Harris at Oxford but they’re riding champ next season

  32. Not sure Chris Harris would agree again to being told where hes riding instead of where he wants to ride , he did that once with the Panthers to Ipswich move and dont think his heart was in his racing that season as a result

  34. It's time for the supporters, promoters and riders the remove their Anoraks stop arguing about statistics and get into action. What we all want is affordable exciting racing that we all enjoy. Do it or loose it !!!!!

  35. Yep.... when we have A, B, C & D league fixtures against the same teams to fill the meaningless League dates, before the rain damaged grand play offs, then promoters could at last realise fans will further select the meetings they go to or don't go to! The Promoter solution of ... if the crowds go down, dilute the standard and put the price up has reached the end of the line.

  36. Nobody can confirm it's true although you wouldn't be surprised if it was. As has been stated Wolves don't want a six team league for a start, a lack of variety in opposition for the rest will hit them hard eventually.

  46. Those of us who support teams in the second tier have known for ages that it’s the superior league. Adding Oxford will only strengthen that and I am very much looking forward to seeing them at Armadale and also hopefully paying a visit when Edinburgh race there.

  48. Look forward to hearing the 'rules' for next year, points limit, rising stars, etc. Until then it's all just a bit of fun and people creating rumours and winding up other fans. Hope we stay in the championship or the promoters create one league of a championship standard.

  49. How can you reconcile those two statements? How can you claim to know more about the Rye House campaign than those running it? Our 'optimism' is based on simple fact, not blind faith. There HAVE been new, important discussions and a new attitude towards possibly incorporating speedway in the redevelopment. These are facts. Now I clearly stated that a door had been opened, not that we already have success. You sit on the sidelines offering your pitifully ill-informed comments. All it does is steadily destroy your credibility, not ours. Yes we could fail but certainly if we took your approach we would, It would be appreciated if people like you could keep their damaging opinions to themselves rather than try to pass yourself off as some all-knowing authority. It's hard enough dealing with the authorities and new landlord without having tom deal with those supposed speedway supporters undermining it. It would be easy to suspect that you actually want it to fail.
