Yes... its only glasgow who are allowed to bring in Aussies and kiwis on 2.00 averages so he will definitely be a 4.00er5 points

I think its really only one Poster is has said he would not have Adam back, and he is entitled to his or her opinion. I think they will be disappointed as reading between the lines Adam wants to be back and the club want him back as well. And I would say that the vast majority of fans want him back at Sheffield.4 points

Quite surprised with the stick Ellis is getting to be honest, a great racer and usually in the thick of the points, has also stated he wants a return to Sheffield for 2022. I'd be very happy if he was back with us.3 points

Not interested in what happens at Scunny. So for the record he fell 4 times in 88 races. Twice at Kings Lynn and Twice at Wolves (Same meeting). One of the falls at Kings Lynn was caused by the chain snapping. So only 3 falls caused by rider error. Would hardly describe him as a prolific faller.3 points

It seems to me that there are two, not necessarily linked, issues with regard to the Eastbourne fixtures. 1. The Eastbourne match results are logically removed from the league tables, no argument. 2. The points scored by riders in the Eastbourne fixtures should, in my opinion, stand for the purposes of calculating averages. Those rides were seriously contested at that time and represent the ability of those riders at that moment. Therefore they should contribute to averages going forward. For sure, it would make the calculation of all riders averages a damn sight simpler.3 points

Great arcticle by Liam Waite in the News and Star this morning, even made the front page headline. https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/19724272.workington-speedway-legend-steve-lawson-plans-return-sport-town/3 points

Actually think Jake Allen would be the perfect reserve with improvement in that average of 4.802 points

Okay... I for one love a multi-cultural society; I welcome diversity. However, while there is a constant push for diversity these days, it shouldn't be expected, and it certainly shouldn't be forced. There are just some things that attract certain races/nationalities/cultures/genders, and some that don't. We have to accept that.2 points

Yes....and the point is don't survey the existing crowds...that will tell us nothing. Or worse still pander to a shrinking group with less years in front of them to watch speedway. It's the people NOT attending speedway who are of more interest. How do we get more of them through the gate? I think we are at the stage where promotions like the Isle of Wight should be welcomed and given free rein to experiment with new formats...and properly pilot them. Oh, and please don't be offended on your age. I think we can all recognise that any sport who's fan demographic is 60+ has a problem.2 points

My initial question wasn't angry in its content. Just wondering why everything is CVS's fault. You do seem to have some backward logic, because Woves are managing to continue running, they are responsible for other tracks closing ? Odd. There is nothing to gain for Wolves, and everything to lose, by other tracks closing.2 points

But they’ll continue to do it if they keep getting away with it. It’s down to the referees to watch a bit more closely and clamp down harder on those doing it.2 points

Only seen a handful of non white riders. Thomas Sörensen from Denmark was one who was around a while. Saw a young Chinese looking kid from Sweden once and i think there is a black youngster in Germany1 point

This may be slightly off topic and maybe the Jokes thread is the correct place but...watch on YouTube Benny Hill... Mr. Chow Mein auditions as a ventriloquist. Some may think this racist but I don’t, it’s really funny.1 point

I completely understand you have Wolves running through your body. They have managed to continue because the VS are/were very business orientated and the model they run depends on top class foreign spectacular riders drawing in healthy crowds. Unfortunately other tracks aren't run so business like and depend on lower attendances bringing in foreign riders has broken some of these tracks. We need other tracks to sustain the league on an affordable basis which means more local talent. Wolves can't race themselves and are victims of their own success. I remember Dan McCormick at Cradley Heath and Birmingham he had 7 riders capable of being No1 at any track end result they destroyed all opposition and started the decline of British Speedway.1 point

To be honest, it pains me to say but I dont think the brummies will run in 2022, I just don't see 1000 people going, maybe for a couple of weeks it could happen but it will revert to below that over the season, unfortunately the stadium owners are in a business and they want to see profit, I do believe they barely break even for the greyhound racing, speedway is not a sport that really captures the imagination of the younger generation in the city of Birmingham, dare i say it but once the older fans start fading away they won't be replaced, it's a shame but unfortunately it's the way it is, I have said before and will say it again younger generation want stuff like T20 Cricket, Football, even Formula 1, Birmingham is going through a major redevelopment and once that is complete, there will be so much to do for the youngsters, I asked a few of the kids around here about speedway and they had not got a clue what I was on about, the 20 odd years without speedway in Brum destroyed a potential couple of generations getting into it, I hope I am wrong, but I do believe it's going to take a miracle to get Birmingham to the tapes for 20221 point

Oh jesus no, issues of race being discussed on a speedway forum. I can't bear to look but can I have a pound every time one of you says the word Snowflake? N.B: I am a snowflake myself, hence not being able to look1 point

Top league 6 teams and the same 6 teams to my knowledge. But hey, u never know in speedway coz tales of the unexpected happen.....Q.the theme tune!1 point
-
Congreves average will make a massive difference as 6ish for a 3rd heat leader makes the team look a bit weak but 8ish for another genuine big hitter with a solid engine room and constant strong reserve would make this a very dangerous side.1 point

As Eastbourne wirhdrew from the league then any rider who rode against or for them should have his average adjustef accordingly, otherwise Eastbourne should still appear in the league table. You cannot expunge the team record without also expunging any points from riders who rode either for or against them from them.1 point

the dane’s have a mid season break any Wednesday meetings could be fitted on then like Glasgow did with sam jensen1 point

I agree there is no reason to remove the Eastbourne matches from the rolling averages! Those matches were raced under the same rules as every other league match, apart from being unfair on Kennett upping his ave, it's also a lot simpler to just leave them in!1 point

I was going to say I tend to agree as it's not like riders weren't paid for it... But then that wouldn't be strictly true either1 point

Yes, because it wasn't offensive in Australia in the past because it wasn't used in an offensive way. The term really isn't used though now as the media there has become more aware of the international connotations. I'm sure you know very well that the P-word is a highly derogatory term in the UK, and has been for at least 50 years. What makes any word offensive - who knows - but the fact that some are trying to argue that it's just some sort of endearment really demonstrates a lot of the issue.1 point

The one exception to this has to be Glasgow. Yes, they have poured eye watering amounts into everything that goes on at Ashfield, but the amount of publicity for the owners’ core businesses has to provide a substantial payback. I can’t think of any one more professional in running speedway in UK than the Glasgow owners.1 point

Howarth would be first on my team sheet every time. What he lacks in finesse he makes up for with sheer will-to-win-come-what-may. 120% committed and a great team man. He epitomizes everything that the Tiger spirit stands for.1 point

Those that DU could wear 'half n half' kevlars in their two teams' colours when they race against themselves.. Guaranteed to be some close racing with a few dead heats, and the score would remain close all through the meeting... Just what Speedway needs.......1 point

If a sport was crying out to be reinvented and those in charge show some imagination this was what speedway 2022 should have been about in order to excite the existing punters and attract new interest from those who have drifted away as well as tempting first timers to come and watch. Instead you have the same tired routine and the top tier with just six teams racing each other maybe two, three or four times in a season of fixture fits and starts with the summer months probably being wasted with a sparse list of team matches interspersed with GP’s and World Cup type fixtures. Will the play offs be held in early September and completed mid month, no chance, they will drag on into October despite the lack of teams. How you can make a season interesting with just six teams is anyone’s guess. Sad that speedway has got to this stage and that those in charge are neither understanding how the market has changed (Poland is an example of what needs and can be done in terms of presentation) nor acknowledging that it is no longer what it was in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s as a spectator sport. The bikes have changed, the skill sets are different but the stadia are awful (not much can be done as most clubs don’t own them) but the presentation and content as well as offering value money is in the hands of the club owners/promoters. Unfortunately these custodians of the sport continually ignore those frustrated fans who so desperately want the sport to return to its glory days but that is never going to happen as long as you have no independent body overseeing the sport and you do not have someone in charge with vision to want to take it to another level.1 point

And yet the big 6 don't want it that's the boys club that needs looking at if speedway is to progress1 point
