Let's just be happy we have speedway in scunthorpe there's teams, towns and cities that would love to swap places with us7 points
-
As we know, it’s not the team you start with but often the team you finish with. Hopefully we won’t be shy in making changes if someone doesn’t perform. Poole (love them or hate them) were winners because they were ruthless when it mattered. One quality signing by someone in this league could make all the difference in the play offs.6 points

Thing is with Scunny, we always put out a team on a budget, meaning we're financially stable to continue year after year.. teams generally built to win home meetings, win at home keeps the large majority of your supporters happy.. Personally, pretty happpy with the team we've built and should go unbeaten at home3 points

Yeah have to agree. If you're number 7 doesn't score in heats 2 and 4 then naturally look to replace him in 8, 12 or 14 and give no.7 3rd ride in no 6's hardest ride on paper Team management 101 I'd have thought.2 points

Craig Cook is not really gamble. He is not part of the top 2 of the team, so the pressure is off him. The club have told him that they have no expectation of him and go out and enjoy his riding. With Cook's problems with anxiety and nerves this must be music to his ears.2 points

I think people need to lower their expectations a little, Basso can be a top rider one day but it will take time, next season he will progress but he isn't being signed as a 9point rider, if he can attain a 6point average he will more than done his job.2 points

If Glasgow want Craig Cook which I’m sure they will then Glasgow would be his first choice , if on the other hand we don’t offer Cookie a contact for next season then I wouldn’t be surprised if he went back to Edinburgh. I personally think he will be our number 1 again next season , as for Jenga on a fishing trip he couldn’t catch a bite at a fish farm with a trawler net.2 points

I think there has been plenty of thought put into this team, they've built it to always have a strong reserve, they went out and signed the best visiting rider from last season and they've brought a rider back to the UK who has been absent for a few seasons. And in those two they have signed two all action riders to increase the liklihood of good racing. There is obviously once again a strict budget but certainly no lack of thought, the question as always is will the riders be good enough. On paper we probably look 6th best but much closer to the other teams than last year when we started with massive risks in Bridger, Proctor and Kinsley. No reason if things click that we can't get into the Play Offs and from there who knows?2 points

Interesting reading about several riders have not been paid for matches ridden in for Birmingham during the 2021 season. Surely these riders deserve payment, be it from the bond with the SCB/BSPA or sale of assets (if any) left at Birmingham prior to any proposed sale of the club. Very disappointed that this is still occurring and hopefully every rider at both Birmingham and Eastbourne get their due monies before Christmas. We all live and hope!1 point

7.43 Premiership so 11.15 Championship. He rides in the Polish Extraliga so can only ride on one other league, which I'd assume to be Denmark?1 point

Can anyone tell me if Plymouth have any rider assets? if so it would make sense to get them fixed up with a team place somewhere. Will Gary May carry on as team manager in 2022? if so can we PLEASE can stop him & other team managers switching the reserve riders rides, which is only to the detriment of your weakest reserve! overall you gain nothing. Finally when will season tickets go on sale.1 point

Cheers! It's good work...but I'm still not clear on the criteria? Are British Finals and Swedish Finals given equal "ranking points"? Are Swedish League and British League given equal ranking points? Even to my admittedly biased eyes, this still looks like Mort had a notably better record in the 80s? Also how is Phil Crump no8 in the 80s with just one World Final? Also, if a rider isn't competing at the top level anymore, can other riders catch them up in the latter part of the decade? On the latter for example, I would say at their absolute best Carter and Lee were a better rider than Morton. But over the course of the decade, there are years were he was better than them and other years (for differing reasons) where they were out of the picture with Mort was still at world class level. It's all good knockabout stuff of course. But it's also quite arbitrary. We humans like to think of things in decades, be in sport, music, culture...but it can skew the picture. Again, sticking with Mike Lee and add PC in there too...if you were looking at the 10 years from 1975-84, they would both - I suspect - rank higher.1 point

December 2020 all over again imo. Sheffield favourites on paper with the fan praise while Peterborough get written off with negative feedback. You know what happens in October 2022.1 point

BWD certainly didn’t have British citizenship this season either as Kent had agreed a deal with him to ride but couldn’t get the paperwork so signed Batchelor instead.1 point

Broke a collarbone on 13 June 2019. Seeing as everyone missed the 2020 season, I doubt he'd get a reduction. He was also New Zealand Champion in 2020, so rode that year anyway.1 point

I think any crowd increases would be led by the 2nd Division clubs who basically had 1st Division riders which must have encouraged a few extra to go... Unfortunatley having no clear demarcation between the leagues is one of its major issues that hold it back, and Div 2 teams are not likely to accept their "real place" in the peckng order any time soon I would suggest.. Hence RS's have been disbanded already in Div 2... The RS plan was a laudible one, but clearly should have been aimed at 2nd Div teams so any 3rd Div riders could progress into those places.. And going back to those "increased crowds"... The sport lost Eastbourne, and almost Newcastle, whilst Birmingham took a sabbatical mid season and there isnt any guarantee they will be back this season.. Add to that the start of "Go Fund Me" pages and I would suggest the sport still faces serious challenges, which, as has been shown for a long, long, time, the approach they use in running it, wont ever solve..1 point

My first visit there in 2005 was a challenge just to find the track! Driving through someone’s yard full of construction equipment and trailers wasn’t very welcoming! I’m thinking the locals aren’t too friendly to the speedway as I recall.1 point
