But that’s not how it works. The Star prints the teams’ press releases then has further contributions from the likes of Peter Oakes, Phil Lanning and some others. If Birmingham don’t “feed” the Star, then the Star won’t do their work for them.3 points

I'm sure Fanseat is excellent value for those who want to watch Swedish, Danish and French speedway. Not for me Jeff.2 points

Whatever happened on track the referee's scorecard is by definition - the result. Last time I saw this was at Plymouth in 2020 when the wrong Thompson twin was excluded.1 point

Hard to name a rider that is not riding for 3 teams these days and some would want more if you listen to them!1 point

Just seen on the Warriors website the details of this years Three Team Tournament featuring the Warriors up against Weymouth Wildcats and Cradley Heathens. Looks like the tournament will provide three good evenings of entertainment.1 point

Adam Ellis Thomas Jorgensen Danny Gaapmaier/ Josh Bates I believe that would fit what's left. There's always options out there. As with Ellis, I can't see Jorgensen signed to any team in Denmark. Obviously depends on what cash is available. It was implied the owners would be prepared to put in extra this year, but it would need to be self-financing going forward.1 point

Bickley needs to start showing some real improvement.IMO .I realise he is still young but he has been around speedway since very young age and should really be kicking on with the chances he has had over the last 3 seasons.1 point

That’s my point ! They had poor teams but stuck to their business plan and survived and new people came in and lifted the place by providing a better team and more entertainment. Have Birmingham seriously looked at the crowd level and budgeted accordingly? Newcastle certainly seemed to have . Both are now facing big rent increases and have weak sides but Brum are hoping for big crowds and that is just not going to happen. If Brum now sign a big earner, or two, how is that going to end ? If they don’t have the funds to sign a big hitting number 1, they should say so and then ask the public to rally round and help them survive at a financially manageable level on the crowds they can attract. Live within your means. This year is going to be tough for everyone as nothing is getting cheaper.1 point

as much as i like Adam Ellis, i think clubs need to refrain from guarantees, it should be an incentive to earn1 point

I've been to a darts event and the atmosphere is fantastic. The big plus is the fact that the conditions are always the same and the event won't get cancelled at the last minute...1 point

I think speedway lost it's way completly when the TV got involved. We used to get a parade at 7:15 & the first race at 7:30 now your lucky to see a race before 7:50 at some tracks. Following this will be a 10 minute grading sessions & an interval after Ht 10 for another 20 minutes then a 10 minute wait to decide who will race in Ht 15. We need to get back to running the slick show that made Speedway popular & throw the TV handbook in the bin. Four blokes going sideways around an oval how can that be complicated. If it's done properly speedway is the most exciting motor cycle sport ever & it's ideal for TV. But unfortunetly they slowed it down & what we used to see in 90 minutes now takes two & a half hours at some tracks1 point

Not just "some of the blame" I would suggest.., Whilst Poland got stronger the promoters tried to keep using riders who clearly had new priorities and larger revenue streams via Poland, Sweden, and the GP's... Using a huge proportion of the TV millions to keep them.... Increasing admission fees annually by inflation busting amounts to try and cover ever increasing costs which were never brought under control.... Rearranging fixtures ad nauseum to work around the top riders' own individual agendas, regardless of negative impact to the crowd level by running on those nights. . And running with Guestfest after Guestfest when fixtures couldn't be moved to accomodate them, thus destroying the credibility of so many meetings, and therefore, ultimately, the actual credibility of the whole leagues themselves... Resulting in a great proportion of the fanbase simply "giving up" watching the sport "live" but still watching the sport with enthusiasm via TV and Internet offerings... And all for riders who, in the main, "Foxtrot Oscared" the minute the big money ran out over here... The employee level you can afford by your income is the employee level you should employ...1 point

Polish domination never happened overnight though. We have to take some of the blame for the decline of the sport in UK.1 point

Because it seems to work and appears to be popular with fans? Everyone knows. Speedway is two seven man teams over 15 heats with as many pro riders there as possible... All ridden on nights to suit the riders so they can ride in as many meetings, and represent as many teams, as they can... Mustn't ever change that... Imagine the chaos!! And who knows. Maybe the odd amateur talent could be unearthed given they will be coming up against established NDL riders so can benchmark themselves against a higher standard...1 point

I've said it many times but I would expect more than just fifteen heats of racing after paying my admission price and petrol to travel to my local track some 60 plus miles away irrspective of the expected rise in the cost of living.1 point

Its very easy to down cry riders, have they been given the right support or opportunities? They are trying their best and should be applauded for the time and effort being put in. On a foot note, how long and how many times was Ivan Mauger given numerous opportunities before his success? Was Charles Wright an overnight sensation? Both were given time to blossom and so they flourished!!1 point
