Holding the riders Championship on a Wednesday night at Poole is just plain ridiculous.7 points

What is the point of number 8 if you aren't prepared to use him to replace your number 7. Isn't that the whole point of the scheme?7 points

trouble is skids thats a very insular view we really need to look at the bigger picture, speedways in a sorry state and cant carry on like this.(if i could offer another insular view i would say that many local businesses pubs, hotels, restaurants etc would have benefited from a weekend meeting and they wont now)4 points

The attraction of Sweden is more money (if you get paid) but more importantly much reduced costs. You do Sweden using your Polish equipment and staff. Fewer meetings means it can be done on one day with a shorter season. At the moment Air travel is cheaper than van travel, so Sweden is becoming more expensive to do, but still cheaper than a UK set up. I understand people being cheesed off, but they are aiming their frustration at the wrong people. We moan like hell about guests and RR over here. The Poles are trying to avoid the same, by minimising risks of riders getting injured elsewhere, not eliminating, but minimising. They are saying you should only need one other job (in their eyes, your home or base nation) if you ride here. Their ruling stops no rider from riding the UK. EVERY single rider in Poland COULD ride the UK if they wanted to. Dan Bewley wasn't stopped riding in the UK by the PZM, he was stopped because he chose to ride in Sweden instead. I get it, people want someone to blame, but they need to look closer to home4 points

Because you would lose even more riders and create an even bigger problem with rider shortages. You would lose I expect Fricke, Zagar, Holder, Musielak, Doyle, Riss, Masters, Pickering, Kurtz, Ellis, Morris, Becker, Bloedorn etc. That’s a lot of riders to replace all of a sudden plus the cut off to bring in new or returning riders too.4 points

It will be a usual sized crowd then. Missed a massive trick here. And people wonder why speedway is in decline. Not many supporters going to travel with work the next day and kids who are the next generation of income for teams still at school. This main men want to wake up and smell the coffee. Certain events in many sports have a spiritual home, in Speedways case the home of the PLRC is Sheffield. Enjoyed some great Sunday afternoons/ evenings back in the day there watching Anders and Wato. Always a huge crowd and great atmosphere. They were the days. When Stoney was Mr Workington, Wilson for Sheffield, Carr for Edinburgh, Pickering for Stoke , Wato for Newport, Coles for Exeter, Lanham for Arena, Thorp for Hull etc…. When clubs had proper, loyal , long term number ones. So sad to see how low the sport in the UK has fallen.3 points

I agree, it's not a great way for Kings Lynn to do things, and however good it feels for Jake now, venting your opinion on social media, it only alienates those potential future employers, looks unprofessional, and drags you down to their level. Riders get treated like this all the time. Doesn't make it right, and I don't condone it, but venting publicly never improves the situation.3 points

Wednesday night at Poole, with a live stream available for the other five thousand who would have gone if it were on a Saturday ...2 points
-
Hi guys, we can confirm once you have purchased a stream, that stream is available on VOD ongoing. So any stream that you have already purchased this season you can still go back an enjoy again.2 points

If it's not on should've gone back to old format. Split league into 2 x 4TTs and 1 3TT. Race at each team's home track, 3 winners and best runner up go to final then same again. Used to love the old 4s meetings, great weekend Edinburgh Fri, Berwick sat, Glasgow and Newcastle on the Sunday2 points

Was always a great day out at Peterborough. Although my team were never very competitive and never made the final i always enjoyed some great racing.2 points

The sport cannot be taken seriously in GB in its present state. But as usual in the Ivory Towers everything is rosy.2 points
-
It could change But needs 5 years of constant supply from the NDL into the championship but it's far too strong, for the good of the sport it needs to weaken to become a platform where riders can progress But then fans will say they dont want a watered down product even if it becomes £10/12 to get in as a result, meaning long term their beloved club dies2 points

Apart from 2017 when it was held at Glasgow on a Saturday night Riders Championship has always been on a Sunday at Sheffield for many years. Why it is not there this season god knows2 points

I agree with you regarding what a number 8 should be used for but if what he has said himself on Facebook is true and he’s gone too the effort of sorting everything out at his own cost too turn out for Lynn and he’s found out through social media he isn’t riding then that’s terrible, can’t and shouldn’t be treating a young rider like that2 points

Shocking that this is now mid-week and if I'm not mistaken won't those north of the border be out of school holidays by then? To be fair the fact that it's not a neutral track or in the midlands to allow supporters a chance to get to this is a joke, but then what's new with this sport...2 points

I agree re the gardening and other things that go on... The UK just needs to do what the Poles do.. Two minutes is on, and you had better be ready to start in two minutes.. Noticable too over there that when using RR or putting in a TAC sub which means "two on the run" for a rider, there is seldom extra time added like you hear from the track announcers over here... The two mins is on, and you had better be ready to start in two minutes... This means they run meetings in "sections", so have several natural breaks for relaying the track and plenty of time to go to the toilets, bars etc... The start marshall is also linked to the ref too so the riders all start in line and not going off at all angles, and no one can pull back from the tapes when the start marshall moves away like happens over here.. Simple, structured, and organised..2 points

Right up north?! Manchester isn’t right up north… Newcastle northwards is right up north! you say holding it at a neutral venue wouldn’t attract many locals… there was never a problem with crowds when Peterborough have held 4TT’s at their track… Poole will have mainly locals filling up their stadium but it’s still a poor choice when you consider the fans from the real north… Edinburgh, Berwick, Glasgow, Redcar etc… teams that have fans that normally come out in good amounts for the tournaments!2 points

Could of made that a hell of a lot easier but glad we got it done eventually! I don’t understand the Basso bashing, thought he was brilliant especially after his run in with Doyle, he isn’t phased by anyone and that’s what I like about him1 point
-
It has. I'll admit when I'm in the wrong and I've just lost my head tonight after throwing all of those points in the space of 6 Heats. Started with Nicholls in Heat 3 and then the two 5 - 1's thrown away in back-to-back races was the big 1, 2 punch.1 point

It is crackers isnt it? Due to the way the leagues are contrived, they have rendered them pretty worthless.. Yet should some Div 2 team not be able to run with Div 1 HL"s there will be fans complaining that they may miss out on the play offs because of it.. There is a reason Poland dont use guests or doubling up, (DU Covid excepted), and that is they know they will destroy what they have if they do.. They also know that they need a constant stream of riders to keep Poland at the top which keeps the media interested, so have Polish "juniors" at six and seven of every team. And also now run an international U24 league to hopefully bring through and develop Brits, Danes, Swedes, Aussies etc so they can fill the overseas riders slots inevitably vacated by the current incumbents as they get older.. Light years in front, however the UK could do a smaller similar operating model but choose not to..1 point

people in glass houses and all that. I have a recollection of Mulford letting Kent down a few times in NDL with transport issues and lack of bikes etc. If you are looking at proven NDL / CL form then it's a no brainer that Edwards would be preferred and surprising he wasn't a dedicated no 8 although he is riding NDL and CL already. May be Mulford needs to focus on Grass/Long Track or Speedway for now. He's similar level on Grass to Atkins and Wirtzfeld both of whom seem to have had a rather in/out relationship with Speedway too. The common fact is they all have talent but may be trying to spread it too thinly. The other issue for mulford is that as long as he's viewed as a Grass Track ridr he won't be attractive to well over half of the CL teams who race Friday/Saturday and Sunday as preferred day1 point

That would be too sensible.was always a good away day for fans and usually well attended.1 point

I think you might have that wrong. I'm pretty sure BSN had already advertised that they were including this in their annual and monthly subscriptions as well as the pairs from Oxford.1 point

This does surprise me because things have been much better since Alex Brady has been involved, if it was still down to other members of the promotion you probably wouldn't be. Presumably Mulford will still be required on Thursday if it's R/R for Puk anyway? Agree that venting on Facebook looks awful even though I do have sympathy with the boy. However as I said before to me a number 8 is to cover the odd meeting, not longer term injuries.1 point

You couldn’t make it up.Just another Home fixture for Poole.(in fixture sense)1 point

Peterborough's website has the teams listed for their match; PETERBOROUGH THUNDERCATS: Sam Bebee, Max Perry, Ben Trigger, Arran Butcher. IPSWICH RESERVES: Alex Spooner, Sam Woods, Jacob Clouting, Josh Warren.1 point

Brandon was always a tip for years. While the grandstand will probably have to go, it is not essential: everything else which is needed is still there. There are few enough plush stadiums used for speedway.1 point

Yes only male dogs will be allowed but only if they have no teeth as you can still kick them in the bollocks and they will not bite you lol1 point

So many sporting stadiums these days dont have car parks its a risk leaving your car anywhere these days must put some people off attending1 point

Sorry stats don't lie home meetings only. For most of the season they rode together at number 1 and number 2 so they had plenty of races together 31 in total. Bewley won 28 of them Bickley 3 and 2 of those wins came in the play off final so late in the season and one of his wins was an awarded race when Bewley fell while leading. Bickley stayed at number 2 all that season so never reached heat leader status in the season they rode together. Sorry enjoy the stats side of the sport and not long retired so plenty of time on my hands lol.1 point

It's the National Speedway Stadium in name only, B.S.P. Ltd. don't own it. It was given the name to attract grants.1 point

But to convince one to come over here for half a season ain't easy. If they don't have everything set up in the uk, they need to get 2 more bikes, engines to suit, van, mechanic, somewhere to stay etc. A complete new set up. which they can't use anywhere else during the season. Riding the the UK is a big commitment ££ for the first time for the rider. But a Dane, Czech, or German lad can easily pick up extra meetings in Europe using the same kit they have at the moment. That's the biggest issue before you even start getting into Visas etc1 point

I actually think the old shape was much better for passing, it was just more technical. The problem now is that the curb has been moved further and further in that it's just too far to really get passed around the outside anyone1 point
