That daft mini league on a Monday and Thursday is good for the riders to earn a bit extra cash , but it's annoying when they come into the important stuff carrying knocks9 points

Are ye Bob The Builder like? It will be right without your help thanks Marra... If your team ever get here you can come and spend your money... just dont ask for credit cos a smack in the mouth often offends... Regards THJ7 points

Staggering article in the Speedway Star today outlining the investment Nigel has made and contunies to make and how far from break-even they are match to match, and how desperatley low some attendences have been. Positive that he will get to the end of the season and pay all the bills though. Its a strikingly similar scenario to other Clubs who have departed , outgoings exceeding incomings, declining attendences, declining sponsorship and advertising, increased costs, uncaring corporate landlords; and a group of riders whose machine and running costs dicate that they too are living in cloud cuckoo land about being full time professionals, pandering to tuners and the latest weight saving gimmicks; and yes many Owners/Promoters own business models in cuckoo land too, hearts ruling their brains!. With the other ogre the "developer" threatening Swindon, Edinburgh and Peterborough really is time to baton down the hatches and support all Clubs and hopefully come out the other side. Its easy to blame Owners / Promoters as being incompetent, clueless, stupid and even crooks to varying degrees; but I saw how affected Peter and David were last season, aging visibly with worry and stress; and having read Rob Grants comments this week and those of others who have tried and failed in recent seasons in the past decade, it's clear to me that rather than attack those who have tried and failed and moan at those who are trying NOT to fail, it really does need some decisive action. All those that have failed have undoubtedly invested much financially and lost it and immesurable investment in time and stress. That starts from the top down but us supporters also have a part to play from the bottom up. There are green shoots at Workington and hopefully at Swindon and Eastbourne and Oxford big-style are showing it IS possible.6 points

So Shovlar thinks that for a rider to be excluded you have to make contact lol… Thanks for the video clearly shows Lawson diving in hard and leaving MPT no room to do anything Lawson isn’t a dirty rider usually but he got this all wrong. Why can’t Poole fans see things like everyone else admit Lawson should have been excluded and move on Poole simply not strong enough this season if the 3 heat leaders don’t get at least 10 each they struggle Plymouth lost Barker and lost MPT in the meeting had a reserve that didn’t score so Poole couldn’t beat a 4 man team with their usual 1-7…. MPT unbeaten until Lawson took him out of the meeting and his next 3 rides accrued 2 points so Plymouth so unlucky not to win comfortably in the end5 points

Don’t know what the fuss is about “ you being in the know” all that matters is you are keeping fans informed and the info is genuine. Thanks for your effort. ps I don’t do Facebook or Twitter.5 points

Brian Brett was my abiding memory of the Diamonds. He used to come up from London, with his bike,on the train, and I had the pleasure of accompanying him on part of one return journey,as far as York.He was happy to share the sandwiches he had been given, and we had a great talk about all things speedway. He would have got back to London about 2-30,where his van was waiting. He would have a few hours kip, then off to work as an industrial window cleaner. He said he would finish mid afternoon, then drive up to Long Eaton, for another meeting. This was a top rider,English international, but riding speedway full time was not an option. How times have changed.4 points

I appreciate you have probably had your fingers burned last time but I’m sure if someone like yourself was to get involved in trying to resurrect the team you would have all of the support of the fans and all of the goodwill and promises of financial help or support would still be there as we all want one thing a well run, entertaining speedway club that are good to watch and carry themselves with dignity and pride4 points

Is nobody going to say what a fantastic job the promotion at Oxford are doing? The racing tonight was brilliant, the track was well prepared despite temperatures of about 28 degrees, with no dust until heat 14. A good crowd and a great atmosphere, it was simply exciting - like speedway should be but at most tracks it is not. To the person whinging about the £1.00 booking fee. I would like to inform you that 2 weeks ago the meeting was cancelled after heat 4 due to rain and guess what, the promotion gave everyone free admission tonight. I do not think many tracks would do that. Oh, and parking at Unipart is free with a free shuttle bus. But hey -ho you can’t please every body all of the time. Personally, I’ just delighted to see Oxford running again after 15 years.4 points

Heat 14 was the killer Ostergaard or Basso not beating Riss, Personally would of used Hans in super heat3 points

For what its worth I think Pam-Toft saw Lawson coming and got into his own mess.3 points
-
That looked 50/50 to me, Lawson was very hard and it looked like MPT had started to lift anyway but if you look where Lawson ends up I think there is every chance he would have cleaned Toft up anyway had he stood his ground. You could make a case fir either being turfed out. I'm sure one thing we can all agree on is that if it had been MPT storming under a Poole rider like that the opinion of Shovvy would have been completely the opposite3 points

if the boot was on the other foot shovvy would be screaming blue murder ..3 points

good to see the video proves the ref has made the correct decision, not a difficult one at that, also personally vindicates my original feelings at the meeting last night, pretty clear to most people i think3 points

Given Glasgow got a 4-2 in heat 13 off 1&3 if my memory serves me correctly I thought their choice of 2 and 4 in 15 was odd. Batchelor made a cracking start and made the room for Harris to get up the inside. Really good close meeting that had a bit of everything and was a good evenings entertainment. First time I'd seen Killeen riding and he was on the pace after bend 2. Don't think he could have any complaints about his exclusion and from where I was stood I thought the ref got the first bend calls correct. Tempted to go back again next week Any chance of finding another spot for the enormous tractor to park as it does block the view of parts of the track. You can't see the start/finish line from the entry to bend 3. Rico3 points

My post (which I've requoted above) is off Facebook (apologies for not mentioning that bit. The team vs Poole was also taken off Facebook. As I have said before I was never "a mouthpiece" for this or any previous promotion. I put stuff up on hear that people may not be aware of, as it was only on Facebook at the time I posed it. Many on here are not on Facebook and would be unaware of it. As for "being in the know" I know/knew no more than anybody else. The info I put on here was in the public domain already.3 points

Two things; 1) You called Lawson a gating tart which is something he most definately isn't and never has been and 2) You inferred Lawson cannot pass without knocking other riders off, something he proved he could do a number of other times during the same meeting. Sorry, but in my eyes the above unfortunately proves your post was 'clueless'.3 points

I was determined to get my own back in any way I could that says it all . Lewy is right some Poole posters are distinctly absent from the forum at the moment .3 points

bowtell could have easily gone down and lawson would have been excluded3 points

Then wnen be gets it he rides like a man looking to get dropped !!!2 points

There’s a few Teams would like to sign a gating tart as good as Lawson though.2 points

Only this isn’t a win, it’s a draw, but a draw you get 3 points for. All thought up by Chris Louis I am told and as Roger Jacobs says above it’s a complete load of bolleaux2 points

Lawson to blame for me. Lawson comes in wayyy to hard, Tofty can see what's going to happen. Toft has 2 choices, 1,He comes off the throttle for a slit second and tries to get out of the way, which he did.. That caused the bike to straighten up for a split second, the bike grips and he's in the fence. 2. Keep screwed on and get obliterated in between Lawson and the fence. It looks like his elbow might of caught Lawsons bike as wel. If there wasn't contact somewhere i'd be shocked. I'm sure Richard didn't mean it, but that crossed the line imho. Only one rider at fault there... And i'm a Stars fan...2 points

It really is simple ,its not a full time job but a good hobby that pays ,cut the wages snd take or leave, only prople who make money are stadium owners and tuners back to basics sure would work .2 points

If I've read it right he meant after is exclusion, and therefore winning the final race to get a draw. It would be good to see a video clip of the incident as most people agree that Richard Lawson isn't that type of rider at all. It's not a stunt though is it, its perfectly within the rules2 points

This may be a silly question but why do Leicester bring In a guest from another club at home when they have a NDL team of their own? Looks like a slap in the face for a least one of those lads2 points

Could someone check on Shovlar, a bit concerned about him he's gone awol2 points

If Pearson was a Birmingham asset I would agree with you, but as he belongs to Belle Vue I'd drop him if it makes you stronger. Even if he stays & improves there's nothing to stop him leaving in 2023 for Poole or Glasgow!2 points

Killeen scored what I expected tonight (0 points) you can't compare racing against a very weak (4 reserves) NL side to Glasgow possibly the most solid Champ side.2 points

Could end up just North v South.... Home and away 12 times with top 2 to the final2 points

Reading some of the comments on hear it would appear that he has thought he could take the supporters for mugs, made 22k from one meeting when closure was threatened and thought he could put a sub standard team out and the supporters would still turn up in droves because some speedway is better than no speedway and he would be quids in. the simple fact is all he had to do was put a team together that could be competitive at home and decent on their travels and the crowds would have remained as there was a feel good factor at the beginning of the season but that soon disappeared Rob has put his money in and probably lost a lot but to be fair most of that is his own doing2 points

I understand that the television programme focuses on a family who moved from India to Uganda before eventually settling in Britain, probably following the coup by Idi Amin in 1971. Amin declared himself president, following which there was a period of ethnic persecution during his military dictatorship. By 1971 most of the prosperous businesses and the wealth in Uganda were controlled by groups originating from Asia and Amin issued a decree expelling 50,000 British passport holders. Many of these people of Asian origin relocated to Britain. Grasstrack racing was popular in Uganda and Kenya during the 1960s and 1970s and it is likely that the brief clip shown in the programme is from the 1960s.2 points
