  1. So why query it then? You may not be bothered whether the meeting takes place, but there a fair few from Newcastle (and the surrounding area) who are bothered, as it will be great to see a "Newcastle" side taking to the track once again.

  2. Bugger of then. This tv show is the best thing for speedway in DK since Nicki won his latest title/they rode SGP at Parken.

  3. The track is looking fabulous and I'll bet nobody thought it was going to be this good(but it is). Probably going to be one of the best tracks for racing in any league. I hope that everyone has a visit planned in their diaries to see the massive change that it is from the small, bumpy and lumpy surface it was. I certainly will and even on the training days.

  4. He’s eligible for this league so it’s fine him being in it. He’s a high quality rider and he has a high average that reflects that, but that must be used. Not a middle order average. The issue is he should’ve been competing for a team place against the likes of Jenkins, Edwards, Bickley, the Thompsons, Stoneman, Shanes etc and not against Spooner, Perry, Hagon, Scott, Trigger, Kingston, Warren etc.

  5. Kemp and Rowe both looked excellent prospects at 16 years old, it's a real shame that for whatever reason they've lost their way. It's not ability on a motorcycle, they just seem to lack elements of what it takes to be the whole package.

  7. Ridiculous that there is information they’re willing to talk about but you have to hunt for it rather than it appear on their own website…..

  8. Roynon’s 2023 average is 6.00 because his NDL MA, per the final issue of 2022 averages, was 6.00. Final averages would have been agreed by all teams at the NDL AGM. That part seems fairly straightforward to me. The reason his final 2022 average was 6.00 is where there could be some confusion. From memory, it was decided last season that the Plymouth vs Armadale match would not count towards the averages due to it being a meaningless match so late in the season and therefore potentially open to manipulation (again, from recollection I believe the same thing happened with Plymouth vs Glasgow in the Championship). Now, whether you agree with that decision or not is very much up for debate (I certainly don’t as it sets a dangerous precedent), but ultimately that was the decision that was made by the governing body at the time. If I am remembering any of this incorrectly then someone please feel free to correct me,. Whatever your view on whether that match should have counted towards the averages, I’m not sure that Edinburgh or Roynon can take any criticism here with regard to the 2023 season. Every team in the league knew his final average, he was available to them all. And Roynon is willing to do a 600-mile round trip to race NDL which should be commended. I’m also not sure what people think the pay rates are in the NDL but I would severely doubt he will make ‘a stack’ of money.

  10. And the 4 meeting rule blocked my rider from competing at the end of the year. Constantly told soon as a wheel is turned in the 4th meeting an average for the following season would be applied

  12. “Actually I’d have liked Ipswich to sign Emil” LOL. You’re fooling nobody. It won’t “bite me” in any way shape or form. The facts are very very simple, YOU have absolutely no clue whatsoever that this deal has “no chance of happening”. You simply know it’s a very difficult deal to do for obvious reasons as does everybody else and Chris Louis himself. If Chris Louis knew it was impossible as you say it is, do you honestly think we’d be in to February with him still chasing it?? You’re a fan, a supporter of your team. No more, no less. You 100% have no greater idea than Chris Louis does on the chances of signing Emil Sayfutdinov. You just don’t so stop all the pompous bullshi!t. Louis will be in no doubt that the chances are he’ll have to give up eventually and move on to someone else but if and when that happens don’t sit there all smug with the “I told you so’s” because you haven’t one iota what is going on behind closed doors. If Louis is still chasing his signature that is because he’s been given encouragement to do so. If it fails, so be it

  13. We weren't trying to be clever but due to being told 4 meetings means an average meant that it would be foolish to do so potentially our rider could of ended up being a number 1 this season after only 4 meetings.

  14. Subtle difference between a "hard rider" and "dirty rider"...Pedersen qualified as the second in my opinion.

  15. NP of 10 years ago on 3.5k a meeting yes , NP of now on 3.5k a meeting would be a massive gamble not alot of incentive for him knowing he's having his pocket lined barely before he's turned a wheel

  16. Something doesn’t add up .if tomalin is funding the club and promoter with Carl why’s that ,let’s be fair everybody bar panthers fans think buster props up club and loses money ..if you was losing money you’d be want rid asap you’d not be piddling the potential buyer off … if the teams 5h1te this upcoming this season they can swivel for the £89 a meeting and programme I spend . Times are tight and putting out has beens and never will be’s ain’t gonna wash

  20. I have no issue with Roynon riding in the NL, my issue is with his average. As I see it: 1) Roynon didn't have a NL ave when he signed for Plymouth, so raced on an assessed 6.00 ave (double is Champ ave) 2) Roynon didn't ride enough matches for a new ave, so still doesn't have a NL average. Should he not then be starting 2023 on double his Champ average (3.56 = 7.12)? The logic for keeping him on a 6.00 ave is beyond me 3) I believe his 4th match for Plymouth didn't count for the averages as it was after the cut-off date for the playoffs. This is the same as what happened in the top 2 leagues. However it makes no sense in this instance, as wether or not the match took place before the cut-off date, neither Plymouth or Armadale could make the top 4! I strongly dislike this rule as the only possible reason for it, is to stop riders losing on purpose to lower their averages, which is basically suggesting, they expect riders to cheat - a very dissapointing situation! 4) what's even worse is Ashton Boughton ride a 4th match after Roynon's 4th match, but his did count giving him an average. What's the logic of a rule that means a guest will get a new average but a rider in a 1-7 won't?

  21. Despite all that has sadly transpired before and since the publication of his book there's no getting away from the fact that PC was a great rider during a time that England ruled the speedway world during the sport's last "Golden Era". He was a household name appearing regularly on National TV (the sadly missed "World of Sport" in particular) and I, for one, will never forget his contribution on track and the excitement he generated.

  23. New look, maybe new mindset, so now just needs a new team to go with them. Probably won't have to wait too long into the season until he gets a chance. Him and Dan Thompson vying for first dibs. Who will be first to get the call out of those two?

  24. He’s hardly up and coming though, the NDL is becoming an outlet for some easy earnings for a number of these “older” riders. Also Bickley and Hook should not be riding at this level if they have any ambitions. That’s speedway in GB though.

  26. From my book: Sheffield kick-started their title charge with an unexpected win [at Tilehurst]. The Tigers possessed enormous strength in depth, even their reserves were averaging nearly 7 points a match. The visitors' reserves (Doug Wyer and Bengt Larsson) totalled paid 19 points between them at Tilehurst. The Sheffield fixture is also remembered for the night's off track events. Since the start of the season announcer David Hamilton had brought a stream of famous faces to Tilehurst as his guest. Many of them would no longer be recognised but that night's guest remains famous, albeit for entirely the wrong reasons. With two number one and two number two hit singles in 1973 Gary Glitter had star written all over him. His presence encouraged many teenage girls with no interest in the racing to attend the meeting and drew a backlash from hardcore supporters who regarded Glitter as a distraction. Their behaviour towards Glitter attracted stern words in the following week's programme! The Evening Post gave the visit front page coverage: “Fever as Glitter hits Reading”, ran the front page headline. Page 4 carried further pictures of the Glitter visit next to a story giving the latest developments in the Watergate scandal. 'Tears & Glory'

  28. But the land, grandstand, fixtures and fittings etc etc are not the only financial outlays. What about the utilities to basically be installed in the middle of a field.Electic, sewers, water, telecommunications, and a huge drainage system would also be needed. You don't get all these things put in for free of charge, that's why there aren't any new tracks appearing in the UK being built from scatch. With the amount of people coming through the turnstiles speedway just isn't a viable proposition.

  29. As an outsider looking in the questions around the ownership of Peterborough seem Pretty simple to answer. The club has a year left at the showground. Although it appears that another site has been found the costs with obtaining the land & building the stadium seem to be an issue at the moment. Buster is trying to sell a club that currently could have no future in 9 months time. Any offer made is likely to be well below what Buster wants for it. Tomlin wants to buy the club but because of the question mark around what happens after October isn't willing to meet Busters valuation. Buster won't sell, expects to lose money at Peterborough but can use that to offset tax elsewhere. This probably gives buster better value right now than selling for what Tomlin wants to pay for it. Currently Peterborough speedway isn't worth a great deal as the future beyond this season is far from certain.

  30. Based on what? Good experienced rider who will help progress the younger guys in the team. What every team needs. Double his average and lap most of the riders. We are talking about Adam roynon here and not Tai Woffinden.

  35. Rowe quit at Leicester. I get the impression he's not bothered about racing in GB, happier in Poland. Imo can't count him as a Brit unlucky not to have a UK team.

  40. Only one announcement we need now is Buster stepping down and handing over to Tomalin and his team.

  41. A better signing was the Czech rider for Poole 2 years ago …never showed , but it was ok for them to use r/r for a couple of months until a better rider was sourced . Plymouth are looking at doing the same as the precedent has already been sent .
