Have to say after watching some of the videos and interviews on the club's twitter I'm getting really excited about this season. I always thought Ben might drop a bit start of this season but was flying for Peterborough the other night beating doyle and Emil. Potentially best 2nd strings in the league now Marcin has his own gear over hopefully see better performances away from home. And Lee seems proper fired up to get out reserve Berth which would be some achievement in that side. And even if we don't win the league ashfield going to be the place for entertainment this season!!5 points

What about fans who don't have a local track, or are unable to travel to away matches, or simply can't afford admission prices?4 points

Don't know if you meant that as a negative comment towards Berwick, but Edwards taking Mulford's rides is the equivalent of Berwick racing a team above the points limit!3 points

You can bet if next year starts at the end of April we'll have a dry March & first half of April, then a very wet spell as soon as the speedway starts!3 points

He fell off on the practice lap they do a few minutes before the parade. Didn’t see him come off but he was limping and being attended to by the paramedics for a few minutes.2 points

What about the elderly, disabled, people in hospital, people away on holiday, people who are working late. There's many reasons fans might chose to stream if they can't make it to a match. Get rid of streaming & you'll lose all these payments! There maybe some who chose to stream, who would normally attend (especially in bad weather) but Speedway is always better live than on TV, so don't imagine there would be many choosing to stay at home if they could go.2 points

To be fair, I don't think Tomlinson did much wrong. He always insisted that houses could not be built until the Stadium was completed, and it now seems to be being completed. The reason Swindon closed down was down to Osbourne and Russell. If Terry Russell decided to shut the club down, there's nothing that the local MP can do about that. I guess that what will now happen is the stadium will be completed, the houses will then get built, and then Osbourne will eventually sell of the newly completed stadium and it will get demolished. I'm sure the work that is going on there now is purely a legal requirement to allow the remaining houses to be built. If so, Tomlinson was true to his word.2 points

Watching Emil Sayfutdinov race last night was something special. Do you think Ipswitch have done a big favour to alot of other clubs to bring in the crowds when he rides away at other tracks this year in the UK ? When Ipswitch are in town its a definite one to watch and hopefully if Nick Pederson is ok that should help bring in a few extra in through the gates around the country. Anyone else ?1 point

Yes each team had a minutes practice before the start. Flint lost control and fell hitting the fence near the starting gate.1 point

I was hooked from there! Then I didn't go for a number of years when we moved back up to the prem. Now I'm back again! This time to stay1 point

Most Testimonial’s cannot now be taken seriously. It was usually rewarded after 10 years at the same club. I have no idea why that suddenly changed. Understand the ‘Farewell meetings’ (after long service) but not those that benefit then return a year or two later.1 point

At the NSS it's the quality of the racing rather than the quality of the field that we go for. Many remember the first Craven meeting when the lineup looked decidedly ordinary but the racing was brilliant.1 point

Title winning season if I remember correctly. Sweetman replaced Josh G after he broke his leg that year with a young Nick Morris scoring big points.from reserve. What a team we had that year unfortunately a revitalised Newport beat us in the KOC final to stop the double but a fantastic team to watch that year.1 point

I once had the pleasure of meeting Mary Hopkins when she attended Shielfield to witness the Bandits take on the Canterbury Crusaders on a rainswept October night in 1977 and she did indeed say that at the time. We all thought she was barmy though.1 point

Was it not Richard Sweetman that went over the fence as well during the 2011 season against Somerset??1 point

Regardless of whether (no pun intended) the decision was correct (and I'm sure it was) we have to lament the loss of a really mouth watering opening match. I was looking forward to Dan Thompson beating Emil, preferably from the back. Well he did it to Jason Crump, 3 times world champ, and Emil hasn't won one (yet).1 point

i remember back in the 70's when i was just a lad sitting in the office with the lovely Mrs Taylor rain bouncing off the pavements and the good old fashioned phone ringing with people asking is the meeting on. Yes was the reply and around 6pm the fire brigade would arrive and pump the water off the track. Riders would hoy a boiler suit on top of their leathers and we would have ourselves a meeting. In the words of Mary Hopkins, Those were the days my friend.1 point

Firstly, we are in England thankfully . The meeting being off tonight comes as no surprise giving the weather in Berwick this week. Monday was lovely, since then we have had showers and longer spells of rain each day.1 point

Just pointing out facts. Maybe the best thing to do would be start the season later and finish it earlier? With the amount of fixtures, should be pretty easy to do.1 point

That's odd because it's nice and dry in Scotland atm. You know you're getting old when you find yourself mumbling "I remember when riders rode through sleet and snow!". Club owners will one day have to come up with some sort of solution to keeping the track dry up until tapes-up. Large sewn-together track-shaped cut tarpauling (four individual segments?) draped across the track from over the top of the air fences and weighted down on the centre green perhaps? They have to do something soon otherwise these milder summers with more rain are ultimately going to kill this sport.1 point

Not sure how I feel about new race suits. Better than last year but wish we'd go back to the traditional tiger not the cartoon1 point

...I would add Reading to that. A poor loss to the sport and again clouded in "rumours" and "stories" regarding promises of another site but, as yet, has come to nought!1 point

Apologies for being a luddite Rob and being stuck decades back. You have addressed none of the points I raised, of course programmes should be cash, its a few quid. Without doubt a fall back of the track shop is positive so well done for that To argue that a rain off at 1pm justifies the ease of advance payment is nonsense because pay on the gate nobody has bought a ticket as at the point of calling off so struggling with that argument. I do understand that for the one rain off last season it was easier. I would also argue that for the one meeting I purchased in advance and then due to family illness I was unable to attend and therefore lost my £18 was a good argument for NOT having to pay in advance. Its swings and roundabouts but I had no choice but to lose my money.........unless I had paid for insurance. Just for comparison, if I purchase a ticket for Oxford United and cannot attend then OUFC will refund my ticket as long as it was before the game. Oxford Speedway do not offer that luxury So if you do not want to pay for each meeting in advance at the time you can for EVERY meeting in at the start of the season, OK that is a cracking response, not sure I see the link but then I am stuck in the past. Good to see you dismiss all the fans on here as not interested in modern day speedway, I am sure they are all over the moon with being dismissed as luddites with me I did not see my points as a moan, I believe it was constructive and I tried to balance my point with positives and negatives but as I also said there are some who want to blow smoke and will not accept any points. I actually take your comment as somewhat offensive to suggest that a moan because its not like 2007. If that was aimed at me then yep, I am offended. Paying with a debit card is not 2007, its how the vast majority of transactions take place including at all the bars where you do not have to prepay through an app Having said all that, fair play to you for responding, you are the closest thing to the club who does respond. Out of interest is the club mailbox attended and do you think a response should be expected ? If not then I suggest the club do not publish it, email was of course around in 2007 but is still live today.................unless I have to put my questions in advance in an app ! Just out of interest, you made the point that tracks would have upfront payment with no option on the gate. How many tracks did you visit last year that had no option to pay either with cash or debit card on the day. As its the way forward I am just interested to know Apologies for daring to say that not everything is perfect. I also do not frequent this forum any more and thank you for reminding me why1 point

For all the moans on why crowds have dropped its always been quite clear to me that the main ireason s that the standard of rider has . The most stupid thing I kept hearing on here is that we don't need top riders. What other sport would work like that. If Emil or Nicki are riding at my local track I'm going its as simple as that. .1 point
