  1. The Glasgow owners are once again linking the Glasgow line up with local charities and gifting each of them £500. They hope that people will also think about those less well off and also donate what they can to the charity linked to each rider. So each charity will get a bit of publicity and much needed funds. Might explain why they are not releasing the names of the riders all at the same time.

  2. full of admiration for the Glasgow promoters/owners, they will be a massive miss to the sport if they decide enough is enough

  3. One of the biggest losses for Wolves was that of track curator Doc Bridgett retiring due to ill health. During his tenure the racing was superb, passing inside and outside. Wolves won multiple track of the year awards as voted by referees and riders. Size and shape was irrelevant then. All this with limited access to the track due to the greyhounds. Subsequent curators have tried their best but really Bridgett was unmatchable.

  4. I'd have Blodorn over Wright anyway... Especially if Charles is coming back from a serious injury.

  7. If i understood correctly, going by what @W9 Lion said, Ippo had first refusal on Dan, despite him being a Leicester asset, which sounds crazy!

  8. With all due respect to Joe, there’s no way Leicester would pick Joe over Dan so clearly Dan wanted the move to Ipswich.

  9. I think the 25% reduction is given to rising stars that moves out of a rising star position,to encourage clubs to take the riders on in the team.

  16. I'm not sure if there will be enough quality, but I'm sure they'll find enough riders who want to race, just hope they can all turn the bikes safely etc. i.e the NDL shouldn't be the level where you learn to slide etc.

  17. Klindt may struggle against the big boys in 13 and 15 tho ..He's a bit hit and miss at times ...

  19. Having Monday night now means track guys will have Sunday and Monday to prepare the track and do plenty of watering when required, unlike before when they had Sunday then had to start again weds, Terry, John and team should have a great surface to race on imho.

  20. Dan is delighted to go back to Ipswich. He became a firm part of the Ippo family and was given loads of help and support from Emil, JD and all the riders and staff. Who wouldn't say Yes to an offer to go back? Another year there, a solid year in the Championship and we might just see a real British prospect for a golden future.

  21. It's a good side but not a special one, It's a bit of a boom or bust situation where BV have got a young side where nobody apart from Mountain has reached their full potential yet therefore everyone has the scope to improve. If they don't improve again in 2024 then this team is bang in trouble, However if they do improve again (I think they will) then the sky is the limit for this young BV side. Bewley will be different gravy next season and he will be back to his old self so that's not a worry, The worry is Blodorn and B. Cook having to ride at 2 or 4 when they have averages that are inflated due to spells at No.6 for their respective clubs in 2023, That's where BV's 2024 fate lies.

  22. From listening to comments he made about Ippo last year it seems that absolutely no pressure was put on him at all, so you can't blame him for wanting to return... or was that Joe? either way no pressure

  23. Could have kept both Wright and Brennan releasing just Blodorn for a slightly weaker number 6. Keeping 6 of last seasons table topping team which would have i.m.o been a stronger team.

  24. Completely agree Wright is a very exciting rider, bit wild at times, who can beat most 3rd heat leaders, he rode at 4 at BV and expect him to ride there for Oxford, Klindt is a fantastic gater, not many outgate him, he has ridden at number 1 before so see him scoring plenty of points.

  25. It’s a decent side I don’t think any side can be classed as poor until we see what they go like as a team However my team Ipswich and Belle Vue have replaced 2 riders each from the 1-7 last season Belle Vue replace Wright and Brennan ( who in the league meetings at Foxhall got 15 and 19 between them ) with Cook and Mountain which makes them weaker in my opinion (especially at Foxhall)….. and Ipswich have replaced Riss and Hume with Ellis and Jenkins which in my opinion makes them stronger … so we beat Belle Vue in the play offs last year and this season I would fancy us again I admit obviously each team has strengths at different tracks like Sheffield look strong but the Holders sulk at Foxhall and Tai hasn’t been there for years …. For example Iversen and Musielek will probably outscore the Holder brothers easily at Foxhall Still it’s all about opinions … may the best team win lol

  26. I think people are forgetting just how good Wright, Harris and Kerr are at Oxford. Kerr was superb for us in the Champ, and Harris and Wright were arguably the two most impressive visitors all season last year. Wright was also second only to Kerr in scoring in the Pairs, and Harris broke the track record in that meeting. Yes, the Prem is stronger, but they are still going to score big points at home most weeks.

  27. Kerr has a higher Prem & Champ average than MPT, who is surely Lynn's 6th best rider?

  28. I have watched lots of meetings at Monmore and Perry Barr and in my opinion the better racing has been at Monmore, for whatever reason Perry Barr does not lend itself to overtaking except on the odd occasion, whether it's down to track prep, or maintenance I don;t know but the Monmore track has had far more time and money spent on it than Perry Barr has, one of the reasons being that Perry Barr is limited by access issues and another would be lack of money plus inferior equipment, another from reading comments are riders don;t know what to expect from one meeting to another, I read Nigel intends to spend time on the track in the close season, it not only needs time spent but money and for goodness sake lets see more banking on the bends..

  29. That makes Birmingham 2.64 km (or 1.64 miles) long. Bomber will be pleased. We can have the World Long Track final there.

  30. Why are the Pawlicki's being called has beens? Maybe they are not at their peak (former GP riders) but they're still Extraliga riders & you don't get to race in that league without a hell of a lot of talent.

  34. That’s a weak team imo compared to the other teams I’ve seen built for 2024. Need Dan to be fully committed to the UK this year & big improvements needed from norick who will be in the main team?

  38. Actually, Jonathan Chapman said at the time he would not object to speedway returning to Norwich at the showground but would not agree to the name "Stars" returning to Norwich. The showground did say at the time that racing would only be allowed on Saturdays with practice possible on Wednesdays. After that it al seemed to go very quiet.

  39. Some harsh reality. Some teams fans will have to learn to accept some speedway is more important than winning speedway. The recent, mid and long term past is littered with clubs who have tried to buy success without the funds to bankroll it and failed. Good intentions no doubt, greedy riders possibly, not enough supporters prepared to turn up definitely. Supporters always blame owners and Promoters and expect winning teams. Normally and with only a few exceptions there is a correlation between supporter base and success or strict spending limits and realism. Poole have massive support in terms of people turning up. Glasgow have massive financial backing Scunthorpe have a great pragmatist who refuses to buy what he cqnt afford. Mark Phillips works incredibly hard, shoulders massive stress, spends more than he probably can. But. You can't make a silk purse of a sows ear. Fans have to be realistic. Speedway is it more important to have it or to win? Or maybe a few hundred more at many Clubs like Brummies and Plymouth could get off their backsides turn off the streaming and support the teams in the flesh... I'm guilty if not supporting as much as I used to but this Autumn has struck home... My club Brummies may not have a track after this season.. So support it whenever possible I will. If plymouth can't build a competitive team. More people need to turn up. Then they at least have a fighting chance.
