I didn't see the comment in the light of 'I know something you don't'. I think it's fair for a rider to comment that there's others they'd be more concerned about on track without giving specific names. Are these things not linked though? As others have said, if it was a convicted felon going back into plumbing or mechanicing, no-one would care less. Speedway is neither important enough nor sufficiently in the public eye that there's any sort of reputational issue involved, and as much scumbag behaviour offends and appalls me, I think once you've done your time you should be able to resume a gainful working career unless the crime was related to your original employment (i.e. child abusers should never be allowed to work with children or vulnerable people).5 points

Why oh why did we not keep Claus. Be struggling if he wasn't here tonight4 points

Think saw an interview with cami the logic was 6 Brits with 2.5% reductions meant the side was built nearer 40 than 38. But I'm with everyone else Claus would've got my vote in that position, and each riders early season form only drives home that opinion4 points

Still waiting for the people demanding the meeting be postponed due to the weather to pop up & admit they were wrong / congratulate the track staff / promotion for ensuring the meeting went ahead.4 points

The moment Glasgow got Vissing in for Flint I think Berwicks chances of getting the bonus point went up in smoke. We had a fair chance before that imo and I don’t think Sedgy will do a bad job at all, he was the best pick of what was available with Brennan away and Nicholls ultimately never takes Championship guest bookings. Vissing however makes Glasgow extremely strong, I do also wonder why they let him go and brought Leon in but only time will tell if it works out for them.3 points

Was surprised that we never asked about Borke as it was clear he couldn’t get to grips with Armadale. From memory he was very impressive at Glasgow last season and again tonight. Berwick have won a watch getting him this season, Kemp very impressive also it was the heat leaders that let them down tonight.2 points

In Poland they have what they call sparring meetings or in our terms challenge meetings maybe to iron problems out as UK season is so short a couple of pre season meetings could even run POTE just to get riders dialled in be better than going in cold into league meetings2 points

"Not that great" Oxford took unbeaten Ipswich to within 6 points, with a missing rider & a manager who made a howler. That would've been a good result even with a full team. Harris has been decent, you can't really give him grief over one poor match, after all he was signed on a sub 7 average, you can't expect big scores every week. Janowski has been poor, but they are better to wait till gets a new average then drop a reserve for another heat leader (if anyone's available).2 points

Actually Schroeck's excuse for his mistakes makes him look even more inept imo I’m normally clued up, but there was so much going on towards the end of the meeting and I missed an opportunity there and that does frustrate me. As soon as Tungate was missing & Clouting was his planned replacement, the obvious choice would be for Wright / Clouting or Wright on his own to take the first 3 rides with Riss replacing Clouting / Tungate in heat 14 alongside Boughen. Then once they were 6 points down, very obviously you'd put Nicholls in instead of Boughen. So how was "so much going on" that he made a mistake? He should have known what to do before the first heat?2 points

Tungate's absence last night at Ipswich is being looked into by the SCB. No decision yet but could result in a 28 day ban for withholding his services. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/miscellaneous/scb-statement-rohan-tungate/2 points

Before my time really and don't fully know the details of that particular theft. But whilst I wouldn't equate the gravity of straightforward nicking of bikes with robbing vulnerable people with menaces, I don't think you'd want such people back in the same workplace where there's the opportunity to nick more bikes. I think I previously qualified my views on rehabilitation versus ongoing risk to others involved in the industry. At the end of the day though - with certain obvious exceptions - I think it needs to be up to individual employers whether they want to employ former criminals. I wouldn't employ someone who'd robbed disabled people unless I was absolutely convinced they were a reformed character, but if you get into blanket bans on former criminals resuming their former (honest) trade for unrelated crimes, where does it stop? And unless you mandate the death penalty for every crime, even former criminals need to make a living otherwise we'll continue to have to pay for them.2 points

Bringing Leon in is probably down to 2 things his age and they probably hope there is room for more improvement.2 points

Strawman argument. Harris's GSA is under 7 so no one should regularly expect him to score double figures. He's outscored his average in 4 out of 5 matches so far this season and that's an admirable record, not a reason to laugh at him.2 points

Yip, I agree I've said to someone who pulled the old 'I have a reliable source so I am right but I wont tell you my source' sort of thing that if you arent willing to name the source then keep schtum. Its the same for this situation It was worth a cheeky attempt at trying to get the name though I didnt for a minute expect it to succeed though As an aside though, it concerns me a little that the drugs side of thing is what is being concentrated on rather than what he did to a vulnerable disabled elderly person in their own home. If you want to get over the narrow minded perception of some of speedway's image, Im not sure granting him his licence back is the way to go about it2 points

I think his opponents will question whether they will want to be in a race, on a lethal machine, with someone as mentally unstable as he is? brick laying, plumbing, etc etc etc.....are one thing....but, one of the most dangerous sports in the world is another!? Just saying.....2 points

A lot off If buts and maybe,s if lee hadn’t failed his drug test pretty sure Glasgow would have won at Berwick if the team manager gave Borke 7 rides you might have got bonus point1 point

Oops! You know why I didn't include it? I didn't see that Martin Ashby won it in 1974!1 point

Another week where the Bears start well, then fade badly and lose. Bigger defeat than last week but probably more encouraging performance (if that makes sense?). Meeting changed when Charlie, who only had one completed ride, took a really awkward tumble over his handlebars and hurt his shoulder and Bears had to use IRR. The race he was injured in was turning into the best race of the night and his loss was too much for the inconsistent Bears to overcome. Edwards, Bailey and Knudsen all showed much better flashes this week, which was encouraging but the team overall is still too hit and miss. King started well but faded and was poor when it mattered most. Scorpions are a strong team with a lot of riders who like Redcar so I was expecting a defeat and given the circumstances it’s not all doom and gloom for the Bears. Crowd seemed significantly down from last week which is a worry although it was a bitterly cold night.1 point

4 of the team got some laps in,track rode pretty well I think, weather has been favourable the past 5 days,so gladiators are ready.1 point

We never have got a workable team in with both Basso and Bomber, and much though I do love Ben, Bomber came first, for me. Their combined average would have crippled the team building.1 point

If a league match, for example, is abandoned without the result being declared: - no team points are awarded regarding the league table - no rides and points count in the riders' averages - the fixture does not count in official 'records of achievement', so effectively the races completed become unofficial - if a rider sets a new best time in an unofficial 'race', such as in a practice it does not count as an official record ..... so why would a track record time set in an abandoned meeting stand? On the other hand: - the riders will have been paid for the races they competed in - at the time the races took place they were 'official' until subsequently deemed otherwise - if a team drops out of the league the results are expunged from the records - if a team drops out of the league the riders' scores no longer count in their averages - expunged results are no longer official, although they were at the time they were achieved - a track record set during a meeting subsequently removed from the official records still stands ...... so why wouldn't a track record time set in an abandoned meeting still stand. In my opinion the record should stand even if the meeting is abandoned. It was an official race when it took place. Ivor Brown held the track record at Cradley Heath for nearly 6 years with a time of 68.4 seconds set against New Cross on 20th July 1963. Eric Boocock eventually set a new record of 67.0 seconds on 12th May 1969. In 1963 New Cross dropped out of the Provincial League in August and the results were expunged from the official records. The meeting at Cradley Heath was 'official' at the time it took place. Subsequently, Cradley Heath had the league points from the meeting taken away, Ivor Brown had the points scored taken away but he kept the track record.1 point

What I’m saying is I think Cook has played around with his set up and scored enough pts to make it worth his while , I watched the match and I’m sure others will agree if they took the Poole glasses off1 point

Exactly. If you follow this line if thought to it's logical conclusion why not dispense with all that messy racing and random variations and just add up the two teams GSAs and award the match to the team with the highest combined average. [Think of the savings: No stadium to rent, staff to employ, machinery to purchase, riders to pay]1 point

Im of the same thinking tbf, i think Ipi can afford to carry Jordan atm till he finds his feet, he just needs a spell at reserve to get some confidence, young Dan is picking up decent points home and away and Ellis is doing his bit and like been said their still unbeaten so it ain't all bad.1 point

If they sacked Klindt for underperforming, does that mean they'll do the same with the team manager?1 point

The problem I brought up pre-season is most of if not all of Vlad and Patryk's UK experience is on the Showground circuit which counts for nothing now. They're basically having to start from scratch and it's a big risk asking both riders to rack up the points consistently especially Patryk who hasn't even ridden every track in the league. For KL to even push for a play-off place they need the Ekstraliga versions of Vlad and Patryk due to how poor the engine room stacks up compared to other teams (MPT and NKI's best days are long gone).1 point

If Nicholls has the wrong helmet colour on then surely he should’ve been excluded on the 2 minutes there. Or was there more to it like Oxford don’t know the rule book when it comes to changes.1 point

Agreed! But he's one of the few that have a criminal record for it, therefore, it hits home with a bit more awareness (imo) Personally, I loved watching JG when he was at B'ham....great entertainer and one of the few riders that was worth the entrance fee. I wish him well, as in well-being and hope he's educated himself in the art of 'humanism'!1 point
