Flint like Worrell can only win if he gates and gets down the back straight in front.Maintaining his average but not winning important heats when the pressure is on. Edinburgh's mechanical issues saved us from a doing. 50 -39 has the face of respectability but its far from that. Broon summed it up in his comments after ht14 but FFS how did this team come to be put together by choice.

I suspect we’d have seen a lot better performance from Redcar’s youngsters if things had worked out as planned over the last 14 months. Our team structure relies on a strong top 3 doing most of the heavy lifting and we just haven’t had that. Connor was a late addition to the team last year. We lost Eric early on and he was only a shadow of his former (or current) self when he returned. We were still just about in with a shout of winning something when we lost Charles and the season quickly fizzled out. We’ve started 2024 by losing TJ and then almost straight away lost Danny. Puts a lot of pressure on the bottom end to perform in every heat with no respite. I’m sure Connor, Jason and Jake will put a couple of points on their averages at some point and I wouldn’t want to lose any of them. Just a bit tough being a Redcar fan/rider/promoter in the meantime that’s all. Similar situation at other teams to be fair.

Is there a reason Cami Brown stays as manager? Genuine question. Does he have a financial stake for example?

Some very good racing despite the score line and the delays caused by the tape issues. Very inconsistent refereeing didn’t help things but Scunthorpe were always well in control and always looked like comfortable winners. Few bright spots for the Bears, Wright battled as always and Bailey looked much better as the meeting went on. Gilkes had one excellent ride. Zischke had a fantastic first race then tailed off. Scunthorpe are strong at home and Howarth seems to have upped his performance. Could even afford an off night for Lambert and win easily.

Still no sign of any smoke coming out of Perry Barr yet?

Richard Lawson having to cover for Max Fricke's poor away form is becoming a regular occurrence.

So the champions elect start their campaign with a tough opening fixture against last year’s fortunate league winners. Vissing is very much missed right now although he wouldn't have affected the result tonight. It's the manager. He couldn't fail last year after Tarasenko came in (although he came very close to fumbling the ball against Oxford).

Scunthorpe are a good side at home. I was surprised by the guest choice but meh looks like it is going to be one of those seasons. Big match tomorrow for Redcar. It is winnable for sure and hopefully when Danny King gets back he can inject some more points scoring into the collective. This is depressing!

I always thought he was exciting rather than out of control in those early days. But, hey I am getting on now, so you may be right. One of his first races involved a dust up with Dave Blackburn at the pits gate. I think that's when we started to really like this guy, especially when he made it clear he wanted to stay with us rather than return to Sheffield. I think they had dropped him because of an hand injury in the workshop so he got a chance at Long Eaton and quickly became a fan favourite.

Nothing that I heard other than we will be with you next Thursday. I always like comming to KL. It goes back to when I was on the spanners with Adam Allott.

The track was heavy and very tricky. There was one dry line that appeared after the first race or two which naturally every single rider followed. Nobody was likely to go off that line and in to the deep heavy stuff that got pushed wide although to his credit, Emil did successfully in one ride that just shows his skill set! Fair play to all the riders for getting out there, getting on with it and giving it a good try. Ok Batch wasn’t good last night and unlike him, he just couldn’t get out of the start. But I didn’t see a lack of effort from him.

This is true but he was their best rider last night - people who weren't present and havent seen any race highlights need to understand that last night after bend 2 there was vrtually no passing - that heat i recall Lawson was off gate 4 the same gate many others failed to get away from including Emil in heat 1! Once behind there was virtually no chance of getting past.

Why would Glasgow go through if it's a draw and then they win the super heat? Surely both teams would then be on 6 points, but Edinburgh has a superior points difference. Or is there a different tie-breaking procedure? Cancel that, realised Glasgow would have seven points. Doh!

Don’t agree that Bailey is reserve standard in this League.

Neither are the bar prices! The only income to the speedway club is from admissions, programme sales and advertising, banner ads and sponsorship.

Redcar now have 4 reserve standard riders in Bailey, Mulford, Trigger and Gilkes. On a hiding to nothing at the moment I'm afraid.

He is prepared to make changes when he feels someone is under performing or something isn’t working. For way too long now at Berwick we’ve been blindly loyal to riders even when it’s clear that they and/or the whole team is underperforming. I just feel it’s a breath of fresh air to have someone like that as our Team Manager I’ve also now just noticed my typo in my previous post which may render this whole post moot, oops.
