  4. Get over yourself. The track and racing snobbery from a select few from the West is tiresome.

  5. Well Paco turn up from the start and Hey Presto it makes the difference.By all accounts Glasgow were poor. Flint like Worrell can only win if he gates and gets down the back straight in front.Maintaining his average but not winning important heats when the pressure is on. It’s Definately the least exciting Tigers Team for while. Well done to Monarchs.

  6. Edinburgh's mechanical issues saved us from a doing. 50 -39 has the face of respectability but its far from that. Broon summed it up in his comments after ht14 but FFS how did this team come to be put together by choice.

  10. I suspect we’d have seen a lot better performance from Redcar’s youngsters if things had worked out as planned over the last 14 months. Our team structure relies on a strong top 3 doing most of the heavy lifting and we just haven’t had that. Connor was a late addition to the team last year. We lost Eric early on and he was only a shadow of his former (or current) self when he returned. We were still just about in with a shout of winning something when we lost Charles and the season quickly fizzled out. We’ve started 2024 by losing TJ and then almost straight away lost Danny. Puts a lot of pressure on the bottom end to perform in every heat with no respite. I’m sure Connor, Jason and Jake will put a couple of points on their averages at some point and I wouldn’t want to lose any of them. Just a bit tough being a Redcar fan/rider/promoter in the meantime that’s all. Similar situation at other teams to be fair.

  11. Is there a reason Cami Brown stays as manager? Genuine question. Does he have a financial stake for example?

  12. Some very good racing despite the score line and the delays caused by the tape issues. Very inconsistent refereeing didn’t help things but Scunthorpe were always well in control and always looked like comfortable winners. Few bright spots for the Bears, Wright battled as always and Bailey looked much better as the meeting went on. Gilkes had one excellent ride. Zischke had a fantastic first race then tailed off. Scunthorpe are strong at home and Howarth seems to have upped his performance. Could even afford an off night for Lambert and win easily.

  18. Take a bow Scott Nicholls. Sam Masters is becoming the most disappointing rider in the entire league this season when you take into consideration that returning Polish riders haven't been used to British tracks for a good few years. No excuse for Masters to keep putting up these 5's and 6's whilst being protected in the engine room when signed on a 7+ GSA. Richard Lawson having to cover for Max Fricke's poor away form is becoming a regular occurrence.

  28. As a youngster and an Arena-Essex fan we would regularly get to 'ackney for friday at 8. I did enjoy trips there. I have some great memories but we were also there the night Paul Muchene had his crash from which he never recovered and I have never forgotten that! He'd been a promising junior at Arena left to go and ride with a certain Mr Nielsen at Oxford and he had just signed for Hackney when the tragedy happened - bless both him and and his dad who used to always be there, its been so long now and I often reflect on it. However, always try and finish on a high - yes the magnificent 7, the man selling the star - Andy Galvin invincible. I recall a patched up Arena getting runners up in the NL fours in 87, the NL pairs meetings they were always good! Huge rivallry with the fans as well but nearly always good natured - although one did call Arena a mickey mouse track much to my annoyance. Think he was miffed we'd just won i think! A certain Ipswich promoters debut season and seeing Mark Loram as a raw 16 year old novice and thinking wow he's good! For some reason I always had a sniffle / sore throat the day after going to Waterdon Road - my old man always reckoned it was due to all the factories and industry stuff in the area. Would give anything to have both Hackney and Arena back!

  32. Yes - largely agree here - I recall Douglas trying to pass trying to pass Rew in heat 10 and he fell after making up a decent bit of ground , Nicholls made some very good first / second bend moves - in fact in heat 15 he was trying to same but just didnt quite have the speed to get past Lawson.

  34. The track was heavy and very tricky. There was one dry line that appeared after the first race or two which naturally every single rider followed. Nobody was likely to go off that line and in to the deep heavy stuff that got pushed wide although to his credit, Emil did successfully in one ride that just shows his skill set! Fair play to all the riders for getting out there, getting on with it and giving it a good try. Ok Batch wasn’t good last night and unlike him, he just couldn’t get out of the start. But I didn’t see a lack of effort from him.

  35. Why would Glasgow go through if it's a draw and then they win the super heat? Surely both teams would then be on 6 points, but Edinburgh has a superior points difference. Or is there a different tie-breaking procedure? Cancel that, realised Glasgow would have seven points. Doh!

  36. Rearranged fixture on tonight. The British Speedway website isn't entirely accurate with their promo The Monarchs lead the table after their dramatic Super Heat win at Ashfield earlier in the month, and they need to avoid defeat in the return fixture to progress, whilst the Tigers must win inside the regular 15 races. Whoever wins goes through, if it's a draw whoever wins the superheat goes through. EDINBURGH: 1) Craig Cook 2) Lasse Fredriksen 3) Kye Thomson 4) Paco Castagna 5) Justin Sedgmen 6) Max James 7) Connor Coles. GLASGOW: 1) Chris Harris 2) Paul Starke 3) Leon Flint 4) James Pearson 5) Steve Worrall 6) Jack Smith 7) Ace Pijper.

  40. Good to see a Troy putting in a positively strong performance. What a waste of space this guy is and you can only think that as a guest he was the cheapest option. Any second string from the lower league would have been a better. At least they would have gained some experience rather than let a has been top up his retirement fund. It beggars belief that Troy was chosen as a guest.

  41. This is nothing against Tom or Poole, but if any pole chose to ride in the bordernapolis/ westernapolis/ ashfield classic rather than a rearranged league fixture what think would happen to them? The club certainly wouldn't get a facility to cover their absence! Could all be conjecture as would have accepted the invite before the fixture got rearranged and might now have pulled out. But if a facility is granted for that but as was suggested earlier not one for Newman's wedding then the sport really is gone to the dogs in this country!

  42. With it being a short ish notice rearranged fixture, if a rider has already taken a booking on what would have been a blank weekend, a replacement facility may be granted, but has to be applied for stating the circumstances

  44. Sooooo sad to hear this news after the miracle of Northside. Having suffered family experience with “the caravan brigade” a few years ago, I commented on our recent visit that they were a worrying sight. They will steal the cream out your ice cream without leaving any trace Donation made, I hope it is a huge success

  45. The only trouble is you'll be running your fixtures long after the play off cut off date, double headers in October

  46. They will be paying out around two hundred grand to a quarter of a million, to a team of riders who will not be recognised by many in the street outside including those living in the houses opposite... Maybe run with five rider teams, save forty grand or so, and use that to advertise their product? Doing the same thing they always have done can only keep geting the same results.. The riders don't have the profile in the UK to bring in crowds so try something else to do it.. And, as the riders' profiles hopefully increase, you get that organic growth you need..

  47. The simple truth is todays Speedway Promoters in general are lazy people who can not be bothered to get off their backsides and drum up support. At BV they have the best speedway track and stadium in the country BUT if you ask someone in Manchester where BV is or what’s speedway they haven’t got a clue. The promotion of BV and the sport is zero and that’s why speedway is where it is….basically bust!
