I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one, for me this thread is for confirmed signings not common knowledge (unconfirmed signings)4 points

Honestly, I'm probably gonna eat my words in years to come, but I don't get all the hype behind Ashton. Yeah he's extremely talented on a bike for his age, but his attitude and the way he rides... I just can't see him developing into anything too crazy. Yeah he might eventually be a heatleader at Championship level, but I just honestly can't see past that. He reminds me a lot of Lewis Bridger. Bags of talent at a young age, but I just don't see him hitting full potential. I really like Glasgow and I hope it pays off for them, and it probably will, but he's not the next Bewley, Lambert, Woffinden in my eyes. I know it sounds stupid saying this already at his stage in his career, and I do hope I'm wrong... I just don't feel it with him, like I did when I first saw Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley ride, and I just can't explain why...4 points

Well if you put it like that, how about the riders? They're only working for what, between 3 minutes and 7 minutes in an average meeting. The average Top End Speedway riders, hourly rate must be around Ā£21,000 per hour, that's about the same as very low end Premier League footballer isn't it? š± Maybe we should change each race to 12 laps, that way we'd get for 3 x our value for money, and bring these over inflated Speedway Rider salaries down to earth. Alternatively, we could all just go and watch League 2 football, that's about the same price; Ā£24 for a match, instead of these riders who go full throttle, for 4 blistering laps, putting their necks on the line, for the true Speedway fans. Value for money is subjective, and It's personal preference of course, but I know what I'd rather do.3 points

Sheffield should never have kept all 3 HL's, Not going anywhere with those reserves.2 points

Have said this for while the student discounts for speedway are generally pathetic. Iām a Scunthorpe fan and a full time university student yet I still have to pay Ā£18 the same as OAPās and Ā£2 less than an adult general admission which is Ā£20. When you compare it to football it costs far less and people wonder why many young people arenāt interested in the sport!2 points

Happy with that team. Lawson was the best rider in the league last year. A proper number 1 who scores well everywhere. Hagon a young Brit who has so much potential. Good equipment and will kick on this season. Zach and Rowe both are in for big big seasons. Both need to kick on and will surely be the strongest 3/4 pairing in the league. Kerr could take the number 1 jacket from Lawson should he stay injury free. Poole as always will bring the best out of him. Tobais will hopefully pick up where he left from. No excuses with injuries this season so should get out of the reserve berth quickly good luck to whoeverās number 7 and hopefully they can stake a claim to not be the one dropped for Cairns2 points

The home riders know this also. Theyāve also been critical of the track. It needs sorting because if riders donāt have confidence to ride to the max there, then the supporters are the ones who will suffer.2 points

Genuinely not too fussed that AB isnāt returning. Didnāt like his attitude one bit, spent the second half of the season shutting off earlier and earlier, and if he didnāt gate he didnāt bother trying. Clearly a rider in there but happy for another team to find it.2 points

It's getting a little crazy now..it's not just the admission cost,it's the total package, for myself and spouse to go,looking at £50 +3.00 prog + 3.00 parking+5.00 fuel that's £61 before you even factor in any food and drink...that's 4.00 per race,6.00 if it's called off at HT 10.£61 for what equates to 15 mins of racing...value for money? I understand the overheads but....I rest my case,we for one won't be attending this season because of rising costs elsewhere.2 points

Sheffield's admission prices are a disgrace. A 23 year on the minimum wage renting a place in Sheffield would pay £25. A 70 year old who owns a £300,000 house and receives a generous defined benefit pension would pay £23. How is this fair?1 point

I stand corrected, perhaps I am being harsh on Ashton, especially considering I've only seen him a few times in person. I hope he kicks on next year and starts pushing for that 3rd heatleader spot in the Glasgow team, would be really nice to see him progress, I have nothing against him whatsoever. I think I forget just how young and raw he is, when I'm comparing him to the likes of Drew Kemp, Anders Rowe etc... They've all got a fair few years on him.1 point

By my reckoning only 6 riders who have a team building average of 8.00 or more from last years championship field will start in 2025. Harris, Masters, Lawson, Wright, C Cook and Batchelor. Probably shows how much the dynamic of team building changes to teams building to a more strength in depth option, not out of choice but because they have to. Redcar might be the only expection in 2025 if they have Wright, King (just under 8.00) and the return of Riss.1 point

Seems an odd choice to offer a 3 point rider a spot to replace a 5 point rider you had planned to use though? If it was a week before the season, I'd understand it?1 point

I can see where this idea has come from, clubs happy with 5 or 6 home matches, but riders wanting more than 10/12 fixtures. Would it be better to run as joint teams like Scunthorpe & Sheffield did? That way if a stand-alone team wants to enter (Eastbourne at Iwade) they can get a full season of racing?1 point

https://ipswichwitches.co/2025-signing-jordan-jenkins/ When riders sign on, thereās always a PR spin. But if he didnāt really want to be at Ipswich and would rather be elsewhere, that is the most OTT PR spin Iāve ever seen! Jenkins was wanted at Birmingham, but he refused to go there and he dug his heels in to get his move to Ipswich. Oxford also had a priority pick over Ipswich. Would Oxford seriously have picked Killeen over Jenkins if they had that choice? Not buying that one for a second. The fact is Jenkins wasnāt an option for Oxford either because he was going to Ipswich and only Ipswich. Oh, and if anyone knows the true facts here, Arch Stanton surely does! š1 point

I can't see a way JJ doesn't return - loves it here and said if it wasn't for the RS at Ipswich I certainly think he would have been in the Spires set up too. I think Gilkes will be here based on his guesting at the end of the season and the things that were said, but we can't say that for sure. Likewise I'm confident Jody Scott will be #7.... my one thought is whether we'll actually see Scotty return. Nothing concrete yet and I'm concerned that the injury at the end of the year has made him think about retirement - that's my own suspicion and is based on nothing concrete.1 point

Not sure I'd agree with that philosophy, Hagon got his average as high as 5.18 this season, wether you think Thomsen should have kept him at reserve for longer or not, if a rider is capable of that figure they have to expect to move up into the team. Some riders make the step up to the top 5 easier than others, Hagon obviously found it harder than might have been expected.1 point

I'd love to see Glasgow put a NL team out. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Workington, Redcar, Belle Vue Leicester, Oxford, Kent, Sheffthorpe, Mildenhall? (Not sure on the Mildenhall situation) Never going to happen, I just don't understand where all the teams are going to appear from to create 2 divisions. Unless Oxford put 3 or 4 NL teams out š1 point

Just looking BV is/was Ā£24 for the back straight and either Ā£26 or Ā£29 for the grandstand, so whilst you donāt get a seat at Sheffield, not the first to charge Ā£25 by the looks of it1 point

And why does this concern you what he gets. Or is it because itās Glasgow that you have to make comment about something that is A. Nothing to do with you. B. Nothing to do with you. C. Still nothing to do with you. I just love that this annoys you .1 point

Ā£2 increase? Has that ever happened before? I know Leicester have increased their admission but thatās by the standard Ā£1 which is the norm, canāt remember a Ā£2 increase before? Leicester Ā£23 btw so better value. Ā£276 also for a season ticket that is only for the 12 league meetings. 12 league meeting at full Ā£25 is Ā£300, so youāre only saving Ā£24. Not even enough for one full free meeting! Thatās terrible value for money and poor from Sheffield. You do get a fiver off the first KOC round for balance, and same again IF they make it to the semi finals, but thatās still awful value for money.1 point

Iām amazed by the disservice Thomsen is getting here. It wasnāt his greatest ever season, but 10+2, 11+1 and 8+3, including a win over Masters (the highest averaging home rider in the league) at Oxford across the final three cup final meetings of the season is remarkable from reserve. Being British and possessing potential is one thing, but if Iām a Poole fan, Iām delighted with Thomsenās return.1 point
