Have no fear. We'll get our revenge the next time a Polish club signs a Scotsman...4 points

You are really embarrassing yourself. Calling yourself a wakner tops the lot. This is not a thread for controversy. There is a guy in a hospital bed with very serious injuries with a mother and wife praying for every positive moment in hope for their boy. Pinny pretty much sums it up.4 points

And to think the abuse Marcin got for going to his stag do to get out of riding armadale, oskar seen the place once and trying to get ways out of riding it š¤£.3 points

It's common knowledge that at times Craig struggles with his mental health. If he's not in a good place at this moment in time, then he's done the right thing in not riding. Let's hope he's getting the help he needs and we see him back riding soon.3 points

You can walk round Plymouth, probably take you about a minute3 points

This, x100. Only in speedway could the novelty of seeing a rider for the first time be take away at 24-48 hours notice because said rider is signing autographs in Poland. Itās a constant dilution of the British product.3 points

The blame game has started I see. Shocking accidents happen all around the world in speedway so see no need for people to be saying "Poland again" or words along those lines like I have read elsewhere on the forum and social media. Garry Stead and Lawrence Hare both had nasty accidents which left them in wheelchairs in the UK and there are many more. Its a dangerous sport and accidents will happen. Main thing is Woffy makes a full recovery. The way they went into the fence, I would be amazed if the outcome would be different on any track in any country.3 points

You're spot on. In the early days of cinder tracks it was hard to produce a good starting area, as the back wheel spinning dug big ruts, worse than the ruts dug in modern shale tracks. Also electric cables to operate the starting gate etc often ran under the track and needed protection. In those glorious days before Health & Safety, the easiest solution was to concrete over the starts. Again, as you say, this was dangerous due to a lip being created which would act as a take-off ramp, and dangers due to the increasing grip on change of surface. (As previously discussed with riders hitting a concrete kerb and taking off - the coefficient of friction between a rubber tyre and concrete is much higher than that between rubber and shale). Also, as anyone who has looped a bike will attest, landing on a shale track hurts a lot, but landing on concrete hurts a hell of a lot more. As track preparation techniques improved, with better quality shale surfaces replacing cinders, concrete starting grids were banned.2 points

There's (a positive) update on Sportowefakty... Woffinden has woken from his (induced) coma according to reports.2 points

100%... The big difference isnt the overall racing but the size of the crowds... An "average" meeting (of which most were just like today), didn't seem so average when you had decent crowd numbers who brought noise and a fair few away fans to add a bit of rivalry and increased the atmosphere...2 points

Sadly we won't see Polis but on the other hand it makes Edinburgh stronger on the night and likely to win and allows headlines like 'Despite no Oscar performance, the Monarchs come up victorious thanks to Victor'2 points

We need to accept that meetings at nearly every track are not going to be thrill a minute with passing in almost every heat. Was it ever any different though? Iāve been watching speedway for over 40 years and despite people saying the entertainment isnāt what it was due to various reasons, I personally donāt think itās any different now to what itās ever been. We all know the NSS is a cut above in terms of racing, but after travelling up and down the country watching speedway the last few years, the rest all seem to be very similar in what they produce. Mostly processional with a few really good heats throw in. But again, itās always been that way in my experience.2 points

Although not a Sheffield rider, I would say that Sayfutdinov would disagree with you!2 points

Have nothing against Polish riders, in fact most are great to watch, however am not so sure about celebrating having one when permission for availability from Polska can change almost overnight. Not the riders fault at all but it does leave a sour taste in the mouth especially as it could well happen again in the future. # bum deal for the paying public.2 points

Zagar is 42 and way passed his best..Surely it cant come as much as a shock2 points

If Riss scored 10 instead of 20 Oxford get battered. He didnāt and they didnāt, just like Tungate didnāt get 5 more. Bloody daft playing what ifs because you can play that game both ways.2 points
-
Every time Iāve watched a Oxford meeting on stream itās always a dust bowl the bowser is totally inadequate and is unable to put enough water down during the meeting. But it always seems itās far too dry from heat one. Maybe they canāt get on the track early due to the greyhound2 points

See I don't mind replies like this, pointing out why my suggestion isn't a good one. Rather than someone suggesting I'm clueless. Although so far, no one has been able to suggest a better replacement than MPT (except a 75% guest) if MPT is such a bad suggestion, it should be easy for people to name stronger (realistic) signings right?2 points

Another big one to start off the season, we will be there to watch Troy and Tate do the business!2 points

Yes you can pay by card. M181 will be open but down to one lane whilst another roundabout is built, traffic runs freely through 50mph stretch with average speed cameras operating.1 point

Probably the most boring meeting I have ever attended at Owlerton, one pass, Flint on Jeppeson in heat 8 and the rest you could fill your programme in 30 yds after the tapes. I doubt even if Birmingham had gated more often it would have been much different as the 2 times that MJJ and Zagar did pop out in front there was still no way Josh or Chris could pass them as the track offered nothing either inside or out. Maybe with last years injuries sustained at Owlerton, the constant slagging off of the Owlerton track for too much dirt building up on the outside and the recent injuries suffered by Tai, maybe the Tigers management and track staff took this onboard and produced an ultra smooth slick track....all in the interests of rider safety, which I'm all for. Although to part with cash for fuel, car parking, programme and entrance as well as my time, then sorry I demand entertainment for that kind of outlay, thankfully next week will be spent watching the "racing" on BSN1 point

Huge caveats with those two defeats though! Littered with guests and rider replacements. They looked nothing like an Ipswich team letās be honest. They didnāt face anything close to what theyāll be facing Monday.1 point

Well you canāt but follow my leader isnāt entertaining . if the Birmingham riders had managed a gate or two we may have seen some - ergo the meeting would have been more entertaining for me and suspect most of those attending! part way through the meeting I moved to the 3rd/ 4th bend to see my tigers mate - at no point did I see any Birmingham riders trying different lines or trying to claw back ground on the Tigers - they simply sat back and completed the race settling for third or last!1 point

Wasn't it ....'set-ups' after the first match v Leicester ??? The only excuse I can think of is.....'B'ham's so called TOP 3 are 'sh#te' yet again!? No desire....'meal tickets'!!! No disrespect to Flint/Rowe, but they shouldn't be peeing all over B'hams Heat Leaders....especially on a proper race track like Sheffield!1 point

Can I change the word 'are' for 'were' ? Absolutely pathetic showing from B'ham !1 point

There is nothing sarcastic or bitter in my previous post. It seems that I have upset you on previous posts and it appears that you canāt let go. Iāll move on, but canāt promise that your feathers wonāt be ruffled again. All of my comments are tongue in cheek and itās quite sad that you find this so upsetting.1 point

That performance tonight was for Tai. I said earlier in the thread we were never going to get beaten tonight. Okay reality check Birmingham are by far not the strongest team in the league, but they did try but Sheffield stepped it up a level and everyone of the 6 riders deserves credit and all played their part in the win. Anders Rowe and Leon Flint deserve special mentions. I don't think I have ever seen a better performance from home debut from Anders, and I think that this season he will reach heatleader standard for Poole. And Leon awesome performance but for an engine failure it would have been 13 from 5 rides tonight, and with Leon on this sort of form along with Kyle Howarth, Chris Harris and Dan Thompson in good form Glasgow have a power packed top 4 that should do well in the championship.1 point

Don't think you can completely walk around any UK speedway stadium, but with the improvements you can access ALL viewing areas without going outside to get back in š1 point

From what I've seen from past meetings from Oxford,, it's pretty slick,, not Danny's ideal track prep.1 point

LOL no. Seems I wasted all those years studying physics, back in the day. Not to mention the 50 years of watching speedway from both sides of the fence. Going to have to recondition my brain now, so that it thinks all those riders that I've seen hitting the kerb and picking up from the excess drive, never happened.1 point

looking to start a discussion rather than an argument when i say this and i recognise how good northside has become in a short space of time but why is it cash only ticket sales at worky and no online tickets card and/or online really ought to be available for a track hosting a national/shared event in 2025 imo1 point
