  1. Have no fear. We'll get our revenge the next time a Polish club signs a Scotsman...

  2. You are really embarrassing yourself. Calling yourself a wakner tops the lot. This is not a thread for controversy. There is a guy in a hospital bed with very serious injuries with a mother and wife praying for every positive moment in hope for their boy. Pinny pretty much sums it up.

  3. And to think the abuse Marcin got for going to his stag do to get out of riding armadale, oskar seen the place once and trying to get ways out of riding it 🤣.

  4. It's common knowledge that at times Craig struggles with his mental health. If he's not in a good place at this moment in time, then he's done the right thing in not riding. Let's hope he's getting the help he needs and we see him back riding soon.

  6. This, x100. Only in speedway could the novelty of seeing a rider for the first time be take away at 24-48 hours notice because said rider is signing autographs in Poland. It’s a constant dilution of the British product.

  7. The blame game has started I see. Shocking accidents happen all around the world in speedway so see no need for people to be saying "Poland again" or words along those lines like I have read elsewhere on the forum and social media. Garry Stead and Lawrence Hare both had nasty accidents which left them in wheelchairs in the UK and there are many more. Its a dangerous sport and accidents will happen. Main thing is Woffy makes a full recovery. The way they went into the fence, I would be amazed if the outcome would be different on any track in any country.

  8. You're spot on. In the early days of cinder tracks it was hard to produce a good starting area, as the back wheel spinning dug big ruts, worse than the ruts dug in modern shale tracks. Also electric cables to operate the starting gate etc often ran under the track and needed protection. In those glorious days before Health & Safety, the easiest solution was to concrete over the starts. Again, as you say, this was dangerous due to a lip being created which would act as a take-off ramp, and dangers due to the increasing grip on change of surface. (As previously discussed with riders hitting a concrete kerb and taking off - the coefficient of friction between a rubber tyre and concrete is much higher than that between rubber and shale). Also, as anyone who has looped a bike will attest, landing on a shale track hurts a lot, but landing on concrete hurts a hell of a lot more. As track preparation techniques improved, with better quality shale surfaces replacing cinders, concrete starting grids were banned.

  10. There's (a positive) update on Sportowefakty... Woffinden has woken from his (induced) coma according to reports.

  11. 100%... The big difference isnt the overall racing but the size of the crowds... An "average" meeting (of which most were just like today), didn't seem so average when you had decent crowd numbers who brought noise and a fair few away fans to add a bit of rivalry and increased the atmosphere...

  13. Sadly we won't see Polis but on the other hand it makes Edinburgh stronger on the night and likely to win and allows headlines like 'Despite no Oscar performance, the Monarchs come up victorious thanks to Victor'

  15. We need to accept that meetings at nearly every track are not going to be thrill a minute with passing in almost every heat. Was it ever any different though? I’ve been watching speedway for over 40 years and despite people saying the entertainment isn’t what it was due to various reasons, I personally don’t think it’s any different now to what it’s ever been. We all know the NSS is a cut above in terms of racing, but after travelling up and down the country watching speedway the last few years, the rest all seem to be very similar in what they produce. Mostly processional with a few really good heats throw in. But again, it’s always been that way in my experience.

  17. Have nothing against Polish riders, in fact most are great to watch, however am not so sure about celebrating having one when permission for availability from Polska can change almost overnight. Not the riders fault at all but it does leave a sour taste in the mouth especially as it could well happen again in the future. # bum deal for the paying public.

  19. If Riss scored 10 instead of 20 Oxford get battered. He didn’t and they didn’t, just like Tungate didn’t get 5 more. Bloody daft playing what ifs because you can play that game both ways.

  20. Every time I’ve watched a Oxford meeting on stream it’s always a dust bowl the bowser is totally inadequate and is unable to put enough water down during the meeting. But it always seems it’s far too dry from heat one. Maybe they can’t get on the track early due to the greyhound

  22. See I don't mind replies like this, pointing out why my suggestion isn't a good one. Rather than someone suggesting I'm clueless. Although so far, no one has been able to suggest a better replacement than MPT (except a 75% guest) if MPT is such a bad suggestion, it should be easy for people to name stronger (realistic) signings right?

  25. I think it's going to be a big year for Dan Thompson. He was superb at Oxford last night, mixing it with genuine world class riders, and it looks like he was pretty impressive again this evening.

  26. There was no money tonight, they donated their wages to tai, there is no such thing as best equipment is in Poland, an engine for Poland won’t work in England and they use tubeless tyres over there which give lots more grip, they are banned here

  28. Yes you can pay by card. M181 will be open but down to one lane whilst another roundabout is built, traffic runs freely through 50mph stretch with average speed cameras operating.

  31. That’s Emil in a nutshell tbh very philosophical. People should watch it again, huge amounts of shale was getting caught up in his machine and it was like putting the brakes on and off around the third and fourth bend. We all have a pair of eyes and we could all see the huge collection of dirt by the fence. Why people choose to deny it was an issue is mind boggling. The Holders themselves even admitted there was an issue there that needed rectifying.

  35. What idiot was representing UK on the International Speedway League Bureau at the time the rules were formed? Clearly not one who could negotiate and stick up for the UK.

  36. Yes @Ray Stadia @RoundTheBoards @SPEEDY69 you're all correct. As everyone knows, a bike leaving the shale and hitting the concrete kerb with the back wheel is liable to take-off. I think someone has maybe had a drink and meant to actually type: "Best wishes to Tai for a full and speedy recovery"

  37. Slightly curious how you think Birmingham tried - they were one of the worst sides I have seen in over 25 years at Owlerton! Zagar Jenson and even Tobias were shocking. Both Zagar and Jenson got out of the gate once and held on for wins but it was at the end of the meeting. I counted about three passes all night also - for £25 quid plus £4 for the programme it was poor entertainment it really was. Rowe looked good - but how can riders like Zagar and co be losing to a home RS and a no 2.

  44. His results at Berwick speak for themselves: 2024 - 2 from 1 (Withdrawn) and 4 from 4 2023 - 3+1 from 4 2022 - 2 from 3 2021 - 5+1 from 4 His average mainly comes from superb home form at Scunthorpe etc.

  45. No point worrying, it’s over, he won’t turn a wheel for the club. Far easier just to move on and see if there is/who is the replacement, Cook was always a major risk and maybe it’s better getting this out of the way in April rather than further down the line.

  47. looking to start a discussion rather than an argument when i say this and i recognise how good northside has become in a short space of time but why is it cash only ticket sales at worky and no online tickets card and/or online really ought to be available for a track hosting a national/shared event in 2025 imo

  48. I think a lot will depend on the performances of Grahn and Polis. If they hit the ground running, it could be a tight meeting, but if they do a Matic Ivacic and ride like they’ve never seen a speedway bike before, it could be a long night for Edinburgh. There’s a lot of pressure and expectation on Glasgow’s top five, but if they deliver, it affords Hodder and Perry the time they inevitably need to develop and progress. Really looking forward to it; the speedway and the portion of chips.

  49. Unfortunately looks to be a bad injury, but Tai has done little for the Ben fund who help out all riders, so why make a special case, it happened in Poland, let them do the fund raising. You may not agree with my opinion, but other people maybe thinking the same
