  1. dont disgaree but sport is an entertainment business - TV exposure has certainly ensured that!
  2. The superheat is a sort of creeping americanisation of sport in that they simply don't like or do 'ties' - the trouble is they do provide drama and a sudden death jeopardy which the fans at the tracks seem to enjoy. I have seem one and the roar at the end at Foxhall when they secured the superheat v's Peterborough a couple of years back was huge. The problem is everyone wants their promoters and and the sport to innovate and move foward and appeal to the non diehards - there are always so many threads dedicated to what can be done to 'save' speedway and here is an innovation that certainly seems to be well received on the terraces, rather liike the playoffs and everyone seems dead against it on here. In football terms i always felt a well ground out away point was often a great reward, draws in speedway and other sports don't actually happen too often - personally i wouldnt have introduced it but i can see and understand why they have.
  3. So odd that Iversen was hopeless at Leicester last week and yet is great tonight - coversely Klindt and Harris both have stinkers etc. (am aware track etc) Confirms for me is that Leicester are on a roll - great to see Joe Thompsn getting more points now, he seems to be on a slower trajectory to Dan but he is making progess!
  4. Woefull! There seems to be no effort or pride in going down fighting.
  5. Absorbing contest for once a great meeting on TV - well done both sides but heck Belle Vue needed more from the reserves and Blodorn! race of the night had to be Dan T showing Kurtz home! He’s had a tricky 2-3 weeks and that was a great win for him!
  6. To be honest his away form this season is what he should have achieved last season, I considered his away form to be particularly poor for a rider of his ability last year! But good for him for upping his game away from the NSS. I still expect a home win although much reduced say 48-42 ish
  7. only an away win here, would like to see Birmignham put together a few wins to end their time etc but just cant see it happening now.
  8. happy days for sure, yes i recall Screen signing for the Aces on his 16th b'day straight into the reserve slot! I remember in his final season for Glasgow watchind him wind it on at Owlerton one last time - he certainly was spectacular!
  9. The only risk for you now is if like Ipswich last year someone else in the top 1-3 of the side gets injured, Fricke in particular.
  10. Indeed brave effort - I disagree with the heat 6 - but it’s not for that reason the Lions have won - just the better side
  11. You and me both - I seem to see a lot of the Leicester streams and I largely enjoy them - it’s also a much bigger crowd than you normally see too so for the Lions it’s all good! Let them enjoy the moment
  12. Kinda disagree been a few races that have been competitive until the flag and there has been passing in a few heats - but no doubt the race of the night was that one!
  13. Well I’ve seen it on BSN several times - Fricke one lucky mucker there!
  14. Three of my favourites right there. To be fair to Andrew he transitioned from Arena to Swindon fairly well but never hit the heights i felt he could, on his day he was pretty much unbeatable, but he had a frustrating inconsistency about him.
  15. What we need is the stars to open with a 5-1 to put the Lions under pressure right from the start - Fricke E/F in heat 1 should do it 😉 I can see anything past a home win and the Lions getting the cup but good luck to the Stars!
  16. Annoyingly Todd was just very good! You raised a point about Arena - seeing as it was my old home track and I saw NL and top tier speedway there. There were lots of top riders who used to slag the place off (plenty of fans too) - often they didn't do that well there - mainly cos they were mentally defeated by the place before they even rode a lap. But it was always worth noting that top riders would turn up and often do very well. Leigh Adams was classic example - i was at his first ever visit to Arena in 1989 for Poole - first race he came a cropper - track probably too tight given it was his first UK season and he was used to Poole and Aussie tracks - a few years later he was our no 1 and almost unbeatable there! Riders like Loram were a pleasure to watch wherever they rode, but also at Arena, cos they attacked the track and never knew when they were beaten. PK was another great rider who rode pretty much any track in front of him, seem to recall they even named part of track after him at Monmore, he would do the same at Arena inside pass master as was Leigh Lanham. A good race is a good race no matter what track you are at. That said that british final heat at the NSS is the type of race we all crave seeing! No argument from me there!
  17. Sheffield Ipswich and Belle Vue are very easy to intrepet, on paper Ipswich are the best of those 3 - BIrmingham, Leicester are a little tricker and Kings Lynn are mixed along with the stocks so its impossible to see as they didn't seperate out. Peterboroughs were fairly easy to see, no idea about Oxford.
