  1. Why Monday nights?? I seem to remember live meeetings on a Tuesday and a Wednesday on Sky last season.
  2. You'll find it here http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=75401
  3. I know it's only a minority, but don't forget there are fans who can't do both, for various reasons (e.g. ill health, distance to travel, lack of transport etc., etc.). But those able to do so should be encouraged to do both and we all know who's job that is.
  4. Yes..... but they are only looking for all the mistakes on it....
  5. Not saying you are right or wrong but 4 PL teams (so far) have named two Brits in the reserve berths (Ipswich, Newcastle, Peterborough and Workington). Is that enough? My personal opinion is no, it's not.
  6. Whilst I totally agree the announcement should have been made by now, for sponsorship deals etc., especially with NL riders riding in the EL this coming season, it's hardly Phil's fault the announcement has not been made. He can only say a certain amount. As far as I can see (I could be wrong), but part of the blame may be put at the door of a 'respected' (according to pandorum) Promoter, who opened his mouth to someone who (I presume) thought he could trust with that info, so, at the same time, part of the blame may be put at the door of the journo the aforementioned Promoter told. Also, perhaps the announcement may hinge on a Sponsorship deal for the League(s), being completed.
  7. Gutted for all of the IOW speedway people. Let's hope they can come back in the future.
  8. The reserved fixture is for the PL KnockOut Cup 2nd Round. If Sheff beat Berwick they meet Edinburgh (who got a bye) on that date, so it's 'reserved.' Open fixtures are for rain offs etc.
  9. Rye and Workington for two ran a double header and Newcastle had to run a Sunday and the following night in 2013. There's three for a start. And the year before, when teams had to forfeit there second legs to help with fixture congestion? (i.e Workington)
  10. So, a few dozen fans from each club, who post on a forum, are "a lot of fans" now? And, all of a sudden, the BSPA and rule-makers, are interested in what is being said on a forum?? Maybe those teams whose meaningful fixtures ended before the beginning of September will welcome more fixtures, but I'm not so sure about those who had to run double-headers and twice a week to fit the fixtures in.
  11. How many fans, from how many clubs, were asked how many fixtures they wanted? In fact, when was the last time fans were asked what they wanted in general?
  12. So some would rather have no speedway? Funny lot.
  13. A piece from the local paper here: http://www.nwemail.co.uk/home/drive/rob-makes-a-jump-to-speedway-1.1059690?referrerPath=2906 I've seen him a few times in the NJL (mainly at Brough Park, Newcastle) and he seemed to have improved each time I saw him. Whether he's ready for the NL or not, I'm not 100% sure, but I'm sure he will continue to improve.
  14. Now the fixtures have been announced..... Having to go to Plymouth as a one off again. It's not rocket science! Either go to Plymouth on a Friday and then go to Rye House on the Saturday, or, alternatively, Somerset on a Friday and, now they have extra dates allowed, go to Plymouth on the Saturday.
  15. It's a pain in the do-dah, but if you go to the BSPA website and go onto the Fixtures drop down and go in to the month-by-month pages, you will get the fixtures for all team (inc., Berwick, obviously).
  16. Nice to see that we have to go to Plymouth as a one-off away trip again.
  17. Someone has to be named as team manager for a meeting.
  18. Who mentioned "full throttle tracks"? You can race harder on a small "trick track" too. A lot of the time, track prep is down to the weather conditions leading up to a meeting. If the track is used for Stock Cars, that can play a big part too.
  19. More often than not, it depends on the conditions/weather etc., to how often a track is graded. Of course it can also be used as a 'time wasting' tactic as well.
  20. There was a great piece in one of the monthly speedway mags about the making of the film (It may have been an interview with Bill Owen). Some of the action scenes were done in a studio where they built a bit of track (a straight and a bend, I think) to film some of the close-ups. I can't remember which (real speedway) rider it was, but in one of the scenes he came a cropper and broke a leg.
  21. This season is starting a week earlier than last season! Last year the Race Night was on 31st Jan.
