  1. And, sometimes it can be boring as they cancel each other out....
  2. Copied and pasted from SCB rulebook: 04.2.7 Dirt Deflectors Are compulsory and must be FIM Homologated, including all the parts.
  3. Depends what the illness was, I guess?
  4. It used to be that you could change the riding order if agreed by the referee and the opposition. Not sure if that is still the case.
  5. Nobody (Ref, Promoters, anyone else) thought of telling them (at the time)?
  6. Be careful what you wish for, look what happened to Newcastle last year.
  7. If you are going to go to a speedway meeting "as a neutral", then the result is never going to matter! Now Newcastle has gone, I'm a neutral wherever I go (mainly Redcar as I find Berwick mightily boring) and don't really care about the result and hope I'm going to see a decent meeting. Last night provided that.
  8. Hasn't ridden for a few weeks, prob needs the £££ and also prob helps to get back to race/match fitness, so why turn it down?
  9. Yes, they did, my mistake, apologies. I thought, for some bizarre reason, they started with R/R but Spencer was injured in his first ride and they used IRR.
  10. Is it not the fact they started the meeting with five riders, rather than averages not adding up, being the point they were "under strength"?
  11. Clerk of the Course, Pits Marshal, Environmental Marshal, Flag Marshals, Start Marshal, Timekeeper/Incident recorder, Machine Examiners, Announcer, Centre Green Announcer, Track Electrician(s).....
  12. He will have given his 1-7 already, so there should be no "secrecy".
  13. Howarth scheduled (and named) for Sheffield tonight (15 June).
  14. SCB Regs: 010.4 TEAM NOTIFICATIONS Home teams must notify their opponents of the team line-up at least 5 days before the meeting to which the away team must respond within 24 hours with their team line-up. Notifications must be in writing, include MA’s and where applicable, the reason for facilities being used.
  15. You can listen LIVE here: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/motorsport/65891969
  16. Without many of the "Free-bees" a speedway meeting wouldn't even get started - I could list them but won't, as it is fairly obvious who they are. I can only talk about Newcastle, but when Rob Grant took over, many of the "Free-bees" were stopped (e.g track staff guests). I could name names regarding people getting out of vans (and I'm talking six or seven, rather than one or two), but won't. All I will say is he was a junior/second-halfer and didn't last long as a "rider" as he now no longer rides!
  17. Here was looking at the Forum yesterday morning, so he's still coming on, just not posting, it seems.
  18. Technically though, Boughen "refused to ride". I can't remember the circumstances behind Ablitt's "no show", but did he not "break down en-route"? Which is totally different to the Ashton Boughen situation.
  19. Until we know (if we ever do) the actual circumstances, we can't really make assumptions. For a start, did his dad do the driving home. or was there someone else to drive? As far as "mitigating circumstances," I'm not so sure about that. Seek medical advice (plenty of that around) and seek another mechanic. If medical advice is "go home" then maybe, but the rider should still be disciplined for not riding in the meeting (I would expect a 28 day ban). But, as I say, let's hear the truth of what actually happened.
