Taken from the Rebels website: 2014 PRESS & PRACTICE DAY DETAILS Tuesday January 21, 2014 The Cases Somerset Rebels can confirm that they will be holding their season-opening Press & Practice Day on Friday 21st March. In keeping with previous years, the day will be split into 2 portions, the first, which will take place in the afternoon, will see the riders introduced to members of the press, team sponsors, season ticket holders and specially invited guests, after which there will be the opportunity for those attending to meet with the riders and for members of the media to undertake any interviews. The gates will then open to the general public at 5pm, with the riders taking to the track, weather permitting, at approximately 6pm, after which there will be an informal social in the Oaktree. Entry to the evening session will be free of charge, but we would like those attending to donate a minimum of £1.00 towards our Charity Partners for 2014, the National Autistic Society. The club have supported the NAS for a number of years now, and with their local centre at Somerset Court celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, it has been decided that the Rebels will continue their support of the National Autistic Society for the 2014 season.

I would hazard a guess that the cost of hiring the stadium, staff an St Johns was the reason they didn't do it.
-
Larsson and Hougard?
-
Woffinden & Proctor?
-
Kyle wont, he's riding for Poole on 3 out of the 4 published fixtures at home to Plymouth!

Plenty of us down here do care, I think you'll find.
-
Doubt it, must be on a 10+ converted average?

I believe the winners of each round will get £16,000, the overall winners of the series will receive an additional £18,000. -
Who Was The Best Rider In The World In 2013?
Pirate Nick replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I'd rather have Darcy In my team than Tai. Reason: because I've had the pleasure of watching Darcy over the last few seasons and feel privileged that I am watching the most naturally talented rider I've ever seen at the start of his career and now maturing into a world class rider. He looks out for his team mates and has a burning desire to win. You could take my words and substitute Tai for Darcy if you are a Wolves fan and the same feelings would apply. This wihy I think this thread is a bit pointless as far as I can see and only started by Gavan as a means to renew hostilities with Steve shovlar. There are (as have been named previously) several riders who could be considered top of the tree but it's all all matter of personal opinion. IMO there's not much to choose between Tai, Emil, Darcy, Chris, Niels and Hampel, so never mind who's best let's just appreciate what we've got! And Gavan, why don't you and Shovlar get a room😀 -
Biggest Improver 2014

I think Brady is a shoe in for this award, after all he's put 2pts on his 3pt average without even trying! -
I think the rule is PL average under 5.

Plenty of eateries in the metro centre (not sure about Chinese but I think there's a Yo Sushi outlet). Have stayed in the travel lodge silverlink which is quite handy for the track and across the road from a shopping centre. -
Smart assumption? So you keep in contact with your governing body throughout the season, checking at every stage is it ok to ride in this league or that meeting and at every stage your governing body says yes. Then when you declare your side the same governing body changes it's mind. Perhaps the chairman would care to comment? Sour grapes? You might think so, I couldn't possibly comment!

Just missed the age cut by 312 months but have been told if 453 riders pull out I'm in!
-
Just between me and you they've fitted a bike with airbags and stabilisers and I'm in at No 7

Bit of a shoddy way to treat the bloke though.
-
He's been outed? Never saw that coming

I think we should all post that Harris has no chance, is out of his depth and nowhere near good enough................... It worked wonders for Tai last year😀 -
Not in the Echo. Had a look at the Echo Twitter @bournemouthecho and can't see it there either?

Doubling Up Or Down..?
Pirate Nick replied to 2ndbendbeerhut's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I believe if the rider is a Prem asset then the Prem take priority. If the rider is an Elite asset then they take priority. I don't think it matters who they are riding for it's the club that owns the registration that determines priority. -
I believe the Elite League will take precedence in all fixtures unless the rider is a Premier League club asset.

British Speedway Promoters Meeting

My take on is that it won't just be NL riders. It would be criminal if the likes of Ellis, Garrity and Kerr were not included.
