Workington Comets v Glasgow Tigers 23/08/2025 3pm.
bigdave replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Taken from the Comets website: Denham shares some details on a extra meeting to add to the diary in September: โWe are going to run a meeting in the memory of Jay Cartmell. Jayโs mum and dad Leigha and James have done a great job so far of organising it โ we just have few things to put in place before we confirm any details. So far it looks a cracking lineup and it will be a four-team tournament style, something which we donโt see anymore in speedway. Itโs a really good cause for the fans to get behind and hopefully it will be an entertaining meeting with a good crowd.โ โWe should be a position to announce more details next Sunday at home to Berwick but if anyone wants to help out with the meeting, as there is a few costs associated with running it, then please get in touch with either the club or get in touch with Leigha or James.โ There's a post on the Comets Facebook Page that enables you to message Leigha Cartmell. -
Taken from the Speedway Riders Index 1929-2022: Bernie Lewis LAGROSSE Born: 2 August 1939, Christchurch, New Zealand. Died: 30 June 2007. Career record: (1965) Glasgow; (1968-70) Berwick. NOTE: This rider originally rode under his real name of Bernie Lagrosse for Glasgow in 1965 but, when he returned in 1968, Trevor Redmond took some riders to Wales and said if anyone volunteered to be a Welshman for the night, there would be a bonus in it. Lagrosse agreed and Roy Williams was born!

Edinburgh v Workington Championship 15th August 7.30pm
bigdave replied to eide67's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Edinburgh won 8 heats, the comets won 7 heats but still lost by 20 points! Too many last places. There was only one heat where an Edinburgh rider finished in last place and the Comets didn't get a heat advantage all night! -
