Workington Comets still waiting to complete final rider signing for 2024 - cumbriacrack.com

Yes, because it creates publicity before the meeting and increases the attendance at the meeting. If it didn't do either, then I would have thought that Ian Thomas wouldn't have booked any interval attractions.
-
Ian Thomas was regularly putting on interval attractions at Workington including Ken Dodd, Charlie Williams, Del Boy, a guy who dived into a small tank of water from a great height, Ice Speedway Bike lap record etc. He certainly new how to promote speedway.

In the 1970s Workington's good year was 1973 when they finished runner up to Boston in both the league and the Knock Out Cup, not 1974 -
Google Keighley Speedway. There are links to a Grasstrack programme from 1932 and to a 2002 remake of the Keighley & District Supporters Club badge for sale on eBay. There is nothing on the Defunct Speedway Track web site about a track being at Keighley.

1988/89 Junior League meetings and results
bigdave replied to pleasureboy60's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Hi, I've had a look through the programmes I have for sale involving Peterborough in 1988/89 and it looks like there was a National Junior League (NJL) running in those seasons. I can confirm that Peterborough raced Ipswich at home on 31/3/89 in the NJL and the programme I have for sale is the referee's copy so contains the completed NJL scorecard for that meeting: PETERBOROUGH vs IPSWICH SPEEDWAY PROGRAMME 31/03/1989 (VERY GOOD CONDITION) | eBay Also I have the 20/08/1988 Stoke v Peterborough programme for sale where the junior team was scheduled to race but the meeting was rained off so the programme is blank: STOKE vs PETERBOROUGH SPEEDWAY PROGRAMME 20/08/1988 (VERY GOOD CONDITION) | eBay I hope this helps. -

Speed-Away Rider Cards Wanted
bigdave replied to MAN ON THE TERRACE's topic in Souvenirs & Memorabilia etc
Have you contacted Speed-Away promotions to see if they can provide any of these cards? -
Yes, there is a market for old Speedway Stars but there are plenty for sale. Have a look at eBay to get an idea of what they are on sale for. There are also some Facebook groups where Speedway memorabilia is bought and sold. In my experience, there isn't a high demand for a large collection of 200 magazines, your client would have a better chance of selling individual magazines and an even better chance of selling individual magazines if they were to describe the contents/articles in the magazine. This takes effort but does attract speedway fans of particular teams or riders from years gone by.
-
If you are on Facebook, join the Speedway Programme Collectors Group and ask there.
-
Use Google maps with the post code ME9 8SP to get an idea of what the track and surrounding area looks like from the air. Dave Payne was also there so he may have some photos of what the track looks like at the ground level.

Try the Barrow Speedway Facebook Group. I am sure someone on there can tell you the outcome of the Barrow meetings.
