  1. This update was posted on Luke's Facebook Page: As most of you are aware Luke had a crash yesterday whilst racing. He is currently in Sheffield children's hospital receiving treatment for 2 broken vertebrae a broken shoulder and bruising to the lung. He is in good spirits and thanks everyone for the get well messages.

  13. A 1930s World Final Programme from Wembley recently sold on eBay for over £300. Also, someone recently bought a late 1920s Middlesbrough programme for over £400.
  14. in 1987 they started off racing at Derwent Park as the Glasgow Tigers, then changed mid-season to the Workington Tigers in the hope of increasing the crowds before being kicked out of the league. Workington Tigers Race Jacket below.
  15. At Workington's first ever away league meeting in April 1970 at Rochdale, in heat 8 both home riders fell and were excluded. In the re-run, Mal McKay and Chris Blythe of Workington were then excluded at the end of the heat by the referee for not racing each other, leading to a 0-0 heat result.

  17. Interesting that there was no mention of any riders from the all conquering 2018 treble winning team. I would have thought Rene Bach and/or Mason Campton would have been worth a shout, as they both rode for the Comets for a number of years.

  19. According to an article in this weeks Speedway Star, Andrew Bain has confirmed that they will be able to take on the Workington Comets name when they do get up and running.
