Somerset V Sheffield 27.10.16
Cue Ball replied to Cliffeboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Whilst I agree with you that it should be Somerset's to lose, I suppose the question mark arises that people said that about Newcastle and then about Glasgow. All things considered, Sheffield shouldn't be in this meeting!!. Think we only lost by 10 earlier in the season and a couple of our riders have upped their game since then - it would only take a first bend tumble for Tungate or Josh G to make things considerably more difficult for the Rebels (I hope that doesn't happen, but it wouldn't be unheard of) -

Congratulations to the Rebels, a deserved win (although engine failures lost us the meeting arguably). A good meeting and particular thanks to Robson who rode his proverbials off all night. -

Just noticed that the Rebels have a guest at reserve - just in case we lose, can I complain in advance that it is unfair that they were allowed to use said guest and that it makes a complete mockery of the entire system, accordingly they should be made to forfeit the match or to compete with just 6 riders -
Who Do People Want To Win The Play-offs?
Cue Ball replied to SomersetBlue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Would love Sheffield to win, but realistically (and deservedly so) it will be the Rebels. We beat them at home earlier in the season, but only because they lost 2 riders to injury during the meeting - we will be doing well to win the home leg unfortunately. That said, I thought that about Newcastle and Glasgow, so you never know!! Team work makes the dream work and all that.... -

Not the guests I would have chosen... but I suppose Robson did a decent job for us at Newcastle 😜 -

A small shower, nothing major or worrying. Stopped now. BBC forecast says no rain -

Maybe he doesn't think he was wrong.... Not saying that he was in the right, but nobody actually knows what Bach said to him to provoke him, his reaction would suggest that he wasn't asking him if had watched Eastenders last night. Not condoning his actions, but everybody does appear to be focussing on his reaction whilst glossing over the potential cause. As I've said elsewhere, not necessarily his biggest fan, but it isn't like him to lose his rag like that (especially on a night when with paid 16 he could rightly claim bragging rights) -

It may depend on if there were any mitigating circumstances- from what I have read, Bach had words with Bates after the race, but nobody seems to know what was said. It's not normally like Josh to lose his temper when he is riding well (which judging from his score he was) so something must have been amiss. Not Josh's biggest fan, mainly because he tends not to ride using his head, but he doesn't often get himself into bother -
An unbelievable result! Agreed it is a slightly hollow victory given our guest heavy team, but a win is a win. Also, I don't recall any comments from Newcastle fans about our top 2 being missing in the first leg being unfair. That said, do feel sorry for the Geordies who must have thought that this was going to be a stroll through to the next round (maybe that was the problem?)

I have no idea what has gone on or indeed if he is actually just injured (heaven forbid), but think that people probably need to be very careful about spreading unsubstantiated rumours to the degree of saying he's been taking drugs. Especially by the sounds of it when part of the basis of the story is wholly untrue in that he didn't have a are truck vehicle. Things like that could cause untold problems for him if not true and also for anybody writing it. Don't know the guy other than to watch him race, just think people should stay clear of such serious accusations/rumours. All in my most humble opinion obviously.

No is probably the quick answer I suspect! There was a comment from the Ipswich press guy that he'd had an argument with Boocock (I think) when he pulled out of the meeting there and it all seems to have stemmed from that. Although the way it was phrased in the programme that he wasn't going to be riding for us again this year was slightly curious I thought.

What was the Sarjeant / Berge scrap about? Didn't see anything to kick it off, but James was riled up about something big style Get a fire extinguisher for Mr Howarth... He was on fire tonight! Other than that not the most exciting meeting -
Plrc 2016....who's Your Winner?
Cue Ball replied to Dcb7's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Fair assessment Spinny. No stand out winner or loser in the field for me. Half a dozen riders with a better chance than others, but on the night any of them are capable of winning races and doubt any will go through the card -

Shame the referee decided to assist the Tigers to ensure that we won with ease, but I suppose those are the rules - even though the riding on the infield one is completely bizarre and unnecessary in my humble opinion! Stead unlucky to lose out on a max due to mechanical gremlins; Bates, still unable to bring his Elite league form to Sheffield; Berge and Howarth had solid displays again; Garrity was Garrity, great attempt to slow the race down for Sissis; Sissis, looked better, but against poor opposition; Greaves also rode, looked good in Heat 2, but was then out ridden again -

If you ignore the year he rode for us, Bellego's scores at Owlerton are probably similar to King's -

In theory, we should win this at a canter, but Sheffield have been making heavy work of winning at home all season so you never know
