  1. I think they are fairly even - from a Sheffield perspective I wouldn't have wanted to come up against Glasgow, Peterborough or Ipswich, likewise I doubt many teams would want to come up against Edinburgh, Newcastle or Sheffield. I suppose Workington and Scunny are marginally weaker than Redcar & Berwick, but I wouldn't have thought there was much in it
  2. No Josh Bates tonight due to illness, so rider replacement, probably guarantees a win for the Scots
  3. Yeah, you're right, just an average, run of the mill, from the gate, kind of race
  4. Ostergaard looked like he was having bike issues and was easily winning his final ride when his chain went. Not trying to defend him as he was a bit crap, but not as crap as his score suggests. Anyway.... heat 15 was worth the admission alone, possibly the admission for 2 weeks! Absolutely awesome race and credit to the 4 involved for such close racing with no hint of an accident occurring. Sort of wish Holder rode for us. He's a good un
  5. Do we know who is set to guest at reserve yet? The whole JPB thing is slightly confusing in that it should have been a 28 day ban, unless he returns to the same club in which case it is only 14 (eg Josh Auty style) - sure that I have seen he is returning to Birmingham colours which would suggest the 14 days rather than 28... but he hasn't been announced as being back with Sheffield. Not got an issue with him getting a reduced ban (if he has) as he is 16 and needs to be cut some slack IMHO, but would be nice to know. In terms of the meeting, think it could be close, Peterborough have a top 5 who are proven race winners around our track in the past and don't see why this week should be any different
  6. Actually heard a rumour last night that JPB is coming back... don't know if there is any truth to it though
  7. They used to until I would guess early 2000's, but seem to remember talking to Louis Carr about it when they stopped it and it was a case of the club wasn't getting anything in return in terms of advertising or something along those lines (it's all a very long time ago!!). It might be something worth raising as Mr Bates & co seem to be a bit more progressive and willing to try things to boost attendances so they might want to re-visit it
  8. Completely do we think or just Sheffield/Championship? Sorry to hear it either way, the step between the leagues has just seemed a bit too far, but sure he would have made it given time - I imagine it must be morale sapping though to turn up for 3 rides and very few points. Hopefully he comes back bigger and better soon, at 16 he has plenty of time
  9. Another week of good racing. Think it's fair to say that Josh G has got his sheffield set up sorted out now 😀 Fast as... Nice to see Branford have a better night, just need to get JPB going as well as we know he can. Must confess to not being sure when we signed Bjerre, but am really enjoying his performances and watching somebody who has the ability to both overtake and defend his position
  10. Decent meeting, Sheffield had a bit of bad luck with Josh Bates bike problems and Kyle was not as prolific as usual. Not taking anything away from Glasgow though, they thoroughly deserved their point and arguably a draw. Good meeting I thought with a few good races
  11. I'm glad that's cleared up!! Should be a decent meeting, but think the Sheffield version of the Tigers will edge it
  12. Love watching speedway at Scunthorpe, love beating them as well, but at the same time always feel slightly guilty - it's like beating one of your kids at a game... Howarth imperious Bates slightly ragged at times, but unbearable Josh G and Lasse brilliant in their first 2 and then downgraded to good Todd, Rob and Shuttleworth will have better days.
  13. I heard somewhere that Stead has said Vaculic and the GPs come first and take priority over Sheffield meetings
  14. Agree with Andrew, didn't see any contact - looked more like Barker took him by surprise causing him to lose balance and slide off. Barkers move was a common one by the likes of Compton in the past
  15. Sheffield seemed to throw a lot of points away during the first half of the meeting with breakdowns and Todd being taken by surprise and falling off (no contact from what I could see), but to an extent was equalled out by Garrity having a couple of duff rides to start and then his and Barkers double breakdown. A fair meeting with some decent racing.
  16. Will hopefully be a good meeting - Redcar have picked up points in 2 out of 4 of their away meetings to date, so they could potentially push us right to the end, expect to win but also expect it to be a more difficult meeting than Redcar fixtures of the past few years
  17. Damned if you do, damned if you don't... crap forecast, don't call it off and abandon the meeting after 2 heats the promotion pay out god knows how much, lose money and get crucified as they should never have tried to put it on. crap forecast, do call it off, enough rain during the day to make it look like a good call and then the heavy expected rain doesn't arrive as predicted and the promotion get crucified... Either way the promotion lose money, I might be wrong, but I would guess that they wouldn't do that on purpose
  18. can't see anything to suggest he isn't riding in the under 21 final tonight, so would presume he is fit to ride for us tomorrow
  19. Too close for comfort for most of the meeting! BWD gets better every time I see him. Nice to see baby Bjerre in heat 15 showing why you should never give up and pulling back second on the line Anybody know why Marc Bates was manager tonight instead of Steady?
