  1. Another good meeting with some cracking racing. Hope JG and CW are ok - presume that the latter will be out for 8 days if he was withdrawn with concussion. Hat off to Arthur for heat 14, awesome ride to keep second place. Frustrating that we know he can do that, but hasn't done it all season. Steady at his imperious best, Garrity had an ok night by his standards, Bates rode better than his score suggested, just not Howarths night, Berge was Berge, another solid showing and Greaves... Unlucky to not get a point when he decided to shut off rather than to ram Tungate but other than that was just off the pace. Talking of Tungate, did he purposefully shut off to block Greaves or was it a fortunate consequence of him doing something which was arguably dangerous?
  2. Agree that Berge should be at 2, for some reason he rides better in that position
  3. Will Sheffield's top 5 ever ride well on the same night? Garrity was immense, although how he only got pulled back once for his starting is beyond me, Stead looked OK and was unfortunate in his last (although not as unfortunate as Covatti), Bates was better than of late, although still rides like he's chasing the hare on the dog track, and then you have the heros of the past few weeks in the form of Berge and Howarth who both had mares by their standards. If all 5 ever ride to their ability in one meeting, somebody will get absolutely tonked at Owlerton. I won't mention the reserves. Fair play to Ipswich, they rode well and deserved the draw, although judging by King's tirade at his mechanic in the pits after heat 15, I don't think he was happy with it!
  4. I know he can be excluded only once - he knocked Bares off first time round and then flicked his back wheel out in exactly the same place in the re-run and nearly took Sissis off. Hard riding I have no issue with, dangerous riding is a different matter. To be clear, Steady's injury was nothing to do with Ully as far as I could see - was actually a bit surprised that all 4 back was given when he fell
  5. Ully was a dirty little bar stool and should have been excluded from the same race twice for his moves on Bates and Sissis. The writing was on the wall as soon as we lost Stead, we were never going to have enough strength in the last third of the meeting. Fair play to Peterborough for taking advantage. Does anybody know what is up with Bates at the moment? 3 points from 5 rides is a bit pants, he just doesn't seem to have any speed.... Berge and Howarth on the other hand are flying and kept us in tonight's meeting
  6. Good meeting with some cracking racing, shame about the result, but a fair one on the night
  7. In theory Bates should be OK to ride - his accident/concussion was a week last Thursday so the 9 days would be up today.
  8. Possibly the best racing of the season! Take a bow Messrs Lambert & Garrity
  9. Hopefully this will be the start of a change of luck for the Scorpions - from a Sheffield perspective, I obviously love beating them home and away (I do enjoy my trips to the EWR), but do hate to see them struggling like they have been this year
  10. Nice to see Roynan flying - it was a good he was otherwise it would have been a whitewash! Also nice to see Garrity riding how we know he can. Not the most exciting of matches, save for in the races with slower times which produced done decent racing. Special mention for MPT and Roynan in heat 12 - it's been a while since I've seen team riding like that. You normally have to watch with baited breath to see if one rider will take the other out
  11. It was a nasty looking accident - hope he makes a full recovery
  12. Well... That was a long old meeting, not much more to say other than that little French man is very quick
  13. I've just cycled from town to stannington and am now off for a shower to dry out...
  14. Gutted to be missing this one, potential to be a good one and a last heat decider
  15. It is a curiosity that 2 or 3 years ago (at least that is what it feels like) there was a meeting every single week from March to September more or less without exception, now most tracks are done save for the play offs by the end of August with several blank spaces in between. The number of tracks lost doesn't seem to equate to the number of fixtures lost.
  16. My mistake, forgot that the 2 point win had been scrapped for a home team winning by less than 6... Can't keep up!!
  17. Just looking at the trophy table - it looks like Sheffield's 2 points tonight put us on 13 points, Peterborough have a match left at home that if they get a 3 point win puts them on 13 points, they have a better points difference to us, so why are we definitely through to the next round?
  18. No... You were lucky to draw at Owlerton last week. 2 engine failures for us got you the draw
